I have a D850, and have come from various other Nikon DSLR's. I also have a Z fc, which looks great and takes nice pictures BUT I absolutely hate the EVF. I'm not doing the old stuck in the mud, "I hate mirrorless cameras" thing, because I think regular DSLR's are on the way out. But for now I'll use my z fc as my holiday snaps camera and stick with my D850 for everything else, and buy a fancy new mirrorless camera when I have no choice.
How does having a Mechanical Shutter improve DR? To me that statement makes no sense. I have found my POS 850 to be far too Contrasty in sunlight, adjusting the Contrast in Picture Controls, just one tick, and the contrast is worse than "Flat". As I said the D850 is a Piece of Shit.

A D750 produces very similar B&W images like the Z9. Much lighter!
Not sure why people would think the A1 is even competitive with the Nikon z9. The A1 is $1000 more to begin with, to get the battery grip is a few hundreds more, also Sony's choice to use a CFexpress card type a in the Sony A1 is also mysterious. A1 and Z9 photo capabilities are about the same but yet Z9 has much better video specs.
While the Z9 may be the best mirrorless camera that Nikon has ever produced, it definitely is not the best mirror less camera that any manufacturer has ever produced, especially when compared to even Mid range Canon and Sony bodies, which cost far less and can actually focus,which is something that Nikon's seem to have difficulty doing. The enthusiastic initial reports on the Z9 are from guys who were used to typical Nikon AF capabilities,which is like listening to a caveman talk about how great his first ride on a horse was while he never experienced flying a airplane.
5:38, honestly... the Z9 has a cleaner image than the A1 and almost on par with the Z7 II. In a real world scenario, you will be happy. In a lab environment, you'll find the smallest flaws.
I did ask this question before but didnt get any response so here goes again....Does the Z9 exhibit the usual nIkon "hunting" issues ?...can you touch the screen to pull focus from near to far without the "judder" we are used to with Nikons video focus ???

D850s were in short supply for a long time when they first came out.
Ive been loving the Z9, such a great camera.
I've been so happy with my Z6, especially compared to my D810, so I can't wait for a Z9 like feature set in a camera like a Z8. Then I'll switch all my glass to Z mount

I'm a super rookie... and im starting my journey with the D3200. I use ND, and Black Pro most filters. Since it's a crop sensor camera. I love the 35mm which is 47mm. And I use the 18-70 (I think) only because 18mm is actually 37mm . Anyhow, I have to work on shooting in lowlights and I don't have the changing iso come 2nd nature yet. I've been learning alot and Nikon has been getting a bad wrap and I was bummed out because I wanted to stick to one brand. But this video gives me hope to keep pushing and upgrade when I'm ready. Thanks for making this.

I love my Z9 also. I got mine two months ago and shot two comic cons so far.
Shot Nikon for 25 years. Happy for Nikon but glad I switched to Sony in 2018 or else I would still be waiting for good autofocus on a smaller body. Almost stayed with Nikon with the z6 but the af was unreliable. For many z9 will be the best camera they will use in 2023-24 because of the chip shortage. Hope the technology trickles down faster. Still miss d810 color with capture one.

I also have an SL2 and I love what it can do using native Leica lenses. There are trade-offs though as you have noted in that low light performance is not the best. And of course the autofocus on moving subjects is not at all what can be achieved with Sony, Canon, and now with the Z9. So I have placed an order for a Z9 and hope to receive it within a few months. Going forward, I can see the Z9 being exactly what you describe, a great all rounder, with the Leica used primarily for stills in daylight of static or slow-moving subjects.
