You could get away with everything but the ride... that’s the one cymbal you can’t cheap out on. A shit ride versus an intermediate priced ride is night and day
I love the ZBT series.There are cheap cymbals and then there are inexpensive cymbals and these are the latter.I love the crispness of the hi hats and the configuring tones that the 16inch and 18inch cymbals produce is perfect.That 20 inch ride cymbal's bell cuts through the mix as well as any other ride out there.

Thanks for this video. Love the new ZBT series. I think the hihat is old one right? I own the new ZBT 18 China and 8 Splash and I love them. Now I am planning to buy the Complete pack in future. At least they are some kind of bronze cymbals. I had these brand new before and the ring , Well i just could not bare. I just found a used kit and ........, it comes with the same Set of ZBT cymbals, stilll sounding like the 90s models too online. I really think ill do like i did with the old brass cymbals i once had to experiment on, and drill round holes all the way around and make an crash like effects crash , then just buff the coating crap out of the hi-hats to make them sound more dark like.

A lot of people don't like these cymbals and I understand why, I personally am not a fan of the ZBT's. This doesn't mean they are bad. They are a great set for beginners who are just starting out and inexpensive. It is a great investment for beginners because you get a complete set for a good price.

Well you get what you pay for man. You want the holy grail just like on Led Zep II. Then you know what a cymbal should sound like.
Just came here to remember how horrible these cymbals sound. Yep they are still offensive on the ears. It's a shame zildjian can't make a decent begginer line like the paiste pst5s or pst7s. I still feel ripped off for paying up for a new box of these when I started out. I think a lot of people get sucked into buying these because they've seen the Zildjian name around and think it's trustworthy. But seriously if you are starting out a are considering these just buy used pro zildjian A' s or whatever. Even if they look old and dirty, as long as they have no dents, cracks, keyholes etc, it will be a much better use of your money. Dismiss this advice as you will but be advised you will end up selling them for good sounding cymbals as these get obnoxious to listen too very very quickly.

When you used to playing on better cymbals, these ZBT’s are pretty much disposable. I grew up playing on old 60’s or 70,’s Avedis. They were made really well and never had any issues. Great sound and not like tin sounding like these.

I totally agree. The mics make the cymbals sound aweful and cheap, so use profesional mics or dont post it. Nice drumming though.

My main cymbal today is a 20 inch ZBT Crash/Ride and it honestly sounds better than anything Meinl releases...

This is the worst zildjian cymbal set every other zildjian set has a good purpose. k's are very versatile dark cymbals, a customs are very versatile bright cymbals, k customs and A's are just very very good especially the A's for the price they sound the quality of k customs imo for less... And S is very good live and even decent for recording and amazing value the best value of any zildjian cymbal for how quality they are and ZBTs are just worse s's.

Is it worth it to upgrade to these instead of the stock pearl roadshow new fusion cymbals? Or is $200 not worth the upgrade. (New to drumming)
ZBTs are garbage as u can see from the video they sound like shit. If ur really on a budget invest in some good used cymbals from a local drum store Cus at the same price range u could get better sounding cymbals.

I like the 20" Crash Ride.
I love Zildjian, but the ZBT's are garbage. If your budget is limited then I would suggest the Paiste pst5's, pst7's or pst8's over these. Paiste know B8 better than anybody in my opinion. Or better still, for £150 more the new Zildjian S family, which sound very good.

News Flash! HCS now has a B8 bronze series, this is BRASS on this video, totally different metal tones! I have Zildjian b8 bronze and also one HCS Meinl brass ride cymbal. Brass is good for ozone in imo, but then I dont buy b20 anymore either, lol.. A happy medium, B12 or b8 for the intermediate player so you wont hate your own cymbals sound 😊

I pretty sure brass is gonna always sound worse, just buff them or drill holes, experiment with your old cymbals! Tape the cymbal for ringing i think. By the way, isnt the MCS meinl better match for ZBT bronze?

That's not a Zildjian Crash, it's a Crash Ride, I got that one myself. Personally, I don't like it that much, I'll swap it with a BCS.
The ZBT's deff sound better to me.

Great vid presentation. Did you do one of Meinl HSC vs Sabian B8X ? Since Covid stay at home, i ordered Meinl HSC CYMBAL PACKAGE. They are ok for an upgrade from my Grammon cheap starter kit, but also ordered from Amazon the Sabian B8X package . Meinls are brass, Sabians are Bronze based. Im on fence about which to keep at this price point. One has to go back like now if i am to get a refund. Now i hear the Ziljians , really like that sound. Must be COVID anxiety making me a little crazy . The high hats on the Meinls compared to the Sabians are better. The other cymbals from Sabian of same sizes have more sustain thsn the Meinls.
I thought the Meinls would be cispier at least the hi hats

Good video, nevertheless I think this is an unfair comparison, HCS aren't made out of Brass, a better comparison would be against MCS which are ZBT's direct competence
