For the past 30 years, my cymbal setup has been Zildjian new beat hi-hats and a Sabian B8 Pro Rock crash, they go together like peanut butter and jelly
I'm gonna mix these with a meinl extra dry ride FIGHT ME

I don't like that set up
In my opinion, the newer models of the New Beats (the ones with the larger "A") are trash, literally and figuratively. They sound more trashy and less crisp and clear than the older models. I would stick to the classic New Beats (80s-early 2000s) and avoid these newer ones.
They sound like hi hats should sound. Crisp, open and dynamic!
Generally Zildjian would be my least choice, but these hats are just amazing.
Just picked up a set. I've loved these things since the mid-80s. Got some Paiste 2002s and have used Sabian AAs, but these are the best all-round hats out there, IMHO. They always sound good and fit the music, from jazz to hard rock.

That snare is so trashy. I love it. I see a lot of people negatively commenting on it though. I dunno. I try to think of applications for even the most nasty sounds I hear. I'll make a beat using a garbage can if I have to.

I am curious what mic is being used to record the high hat in this video? I like the sound of the mic/ high hat combo.
Tons of compression on this - colors the sound of the drums and the cymbals ALOT. To do a demo of this nature, you gotta back off the compression boys. Just my 2 cents.
That deep, dark, rich slush and open sound is one of a kind. Oasis' Supersonic is a great example, as is P.O.D's "Boom"

I just purchased a pair of 13" New Beats. Maybe the best pair of hats I've ever played. Feel so good under the sticks. And the sounds they produce are incredible.
