I have the Advantage RX- A660 receiver 7.2. What is the best speaker hook up for Atmos just using the receiver? This old guy needs direction. THANK YOU!!
Hi audioholics gene I'm thinking about getting d Yamaha rx a780 how would it compare to 860 or should I get a pioneer elite like d lx104 also does imax enhanced do anything
Just had this receiver give me the powering off issue with an external amp I thought the receiver was bad I sent it back.
Yamaha Stereo Receiver lnfo.help/YamahaR is awesomeSound is great, remote is easy to use and the unit doesn't seem to get hot easily. You can also limit the max volume so the kids can't crank it. Everything I wanted in a unit.
Thank for the smart review of the Yamaha RX-860. How can I wire two additional rooms to the receiver. Each room has two spekers.
Steven Wilson "The raven that refused to sing" video on the telly :))
Would the 780 be a step down from this?
Whats the best receiver in the $400 range?
Hi Gene, Could you please make a direct comparison and tell me which is better denon avrx2500h, yamaha rx a880, marantz sr5013. Also which of these companies gives good build quality. Like no overheating, value for money stuff.
Suggests best natural sound ,,,yamaha 5.1av receiver in ....budget
LOL at the picture frames on top of the subs. That must sound awesome.
I just got the Klipsch R-28F, R-12SW, and R-25C. Is this a good receiver to run with those? If not, any better suggestions? Thanks
This model or the Denon AVR-X3300W?
Appreciate your honest feedback
Great review Gene. If I decide I need more power I'm probably going with Emotiva's BAS-X A-5175. Input sensitivity for full power is a very low 1.2v, and it has a 29db gain. It should be a great fit.
I own this receiver , driving klipsch surrounds r14s, center rc62, and r28f front tower speakers, and it does an amazing job filling a 20×25 room with beautiful music and amazing home theater sound!
I never have to turn it all the way up, way more than loud enough, and absolutely crystal clear and natural sounding.
Thanks for the review and useful tips!
pioneer htp-074 review please, entry level guys need some help too 😉
Wow ! Now that is what I call a very thorough and detailed review. Loved it. Awesome video and great job.
Did you have a chance to do bench test with RX-A1060 ? Interested to know wattage output when playing 5 channel driven.
I am about to set up RX-A1060 with 2 fronts of Bronze 6, center with Bronze center, and 2 rear with Bronze 2. Not sure if I need an external 5 channel Emotiva in this case. Thanks
Review Anthem next time.
Just got this a week ago The klipsch rp-8000f.
which AV receiver can I best use with the klipsch rp-8000f,
Gr : Ben (Belgium).
This receiver is rated 100 watts x 2 RMS. You are testing the peak power aren't you? Shouldn't you be getting at least 200 watts on those tests (I think peak wattage is usually at least double RMS)
Would like to see the test with Steven Channel driven
Divine av I'm looking to buy a receiver between Yamaha rx v6a or tsr 700 vs sony str dn1080 which is better quality
7 channel output pls
Hey guys. I would really apreciate if you would test the rx 4va as well. How much power does that put out in 2 channel? I own the rx v4a and i was curious. The rx v6a does a little over 140 w per channel. Its rated at 100 w 2 ch driven . The rx v4a is 80w. So i was curious how much power does mine put in my tower speakers. Thanks. Dont need a video. Just a reply if u tested it would be much apreciated. Great review as well. Well done.
Is TSR-700 exactly the same as RX-V6A when it comes to specs ? On the Yamaha website TSR-700 is listed as 7.1, where as RX-V6A spec is 7.2
The Airbus A320 is my all time favorite plane. This is also my hobby. I am also special needs. I love Yamaha Receivers as well. I own the Yamaha TSR-700 a rebranded model of the RX-V6A
Are u guys confused? Or do you just not understand what the digits in these numbers 5.1, 5.1.2, 5.2.2. 7.1, 7.1.2 and 7.2.2 actually means? This receiver can do up to 7.1.2 and 7.2.2. That means 7 flat speakers LCR SL SR SBL and SBR which is 7, Max two outputs for subs .2, and two LR FRPS .2 (Front Presence aka Front Atmos speakers). At least do some homework and confirm on the back of the receiver, not just the surface of the box, it allows 9 speakers total if u do single zone usage you could achieve at Max 7.2.2. Love the Dyno, but your understanding falls a little short outside of what the box says. Manufacturers purposefully misleading and misunderstandings like this is why people go buy new receivers when their receivers may already possess capability of 7.1.2 and 7.2.2. What this receiver can’t do is 4 Atmos speakers as it doesn’t have LR BKPRNS which is 2 more Back Presence or Back Atmos. This receiver can do more than 5.1.2 Atmos.People today only know what they know and lack creativity to actually see beyond the surface of things. Yamaha don’t care to tell u as they will just brand the next set of receivers 9.1 which can be used in 7.1.4 and dummies will buy it. The same people who don’t know that Dolby TrueHD can decode Atmos. Yes, I said it, your old receiver that says Dolby TrueHD will run Atmos but most people won’t tell u that so u can buy another receiver that’s 8k Atmos when they already have 4K Dolby TrueHD aka 4K Dolby Atmos which maybe what they wanted to achieve all along not care for 8k. Now if u want to just get rid of old receiver, that’s your choice, but for those who are about to spend their last paycheck due to a lack of understanding, thinking they need an Atmos labeled receiver to achieve Atmos, I hope this helps you reconsider and save money and keep your current Dolby TrueHD. I saved my brother $1600 on a new Denon by setting up his old 11.1 Yamaha receiver correctly to output 9.2.4 Atmos. He was going to dish out $1600 for an 8k receiver to achieve Atmos sound on a 4K TV. First time on this channel, but I’ll give you guys another chance.
what are the main differences between the TSR-700 vs RX-V6A?
Does anyone know if it is possible to connect a DJ mixer to the receiver and play music at equal levels out of all speakers and sub? And will there be a delay from when I press play in the DJ deck and the audio comes out the speakers?
That was super interesting. Just seeing the test brought so much clarification
Can I pay half for this then update my payment at a later date?
J.k but really, do they usually end up giving all the promised features?
How’s earc for the time being? Ps5 lgcx. Thx
How can I get one of these?
Fantastic I want to see more
Why does this Yamaha cost $200 more than the TSR-700?
Great video! Suuuuubbbb!!!!! I would like to see other tests of this as well. I almost pulled the trigger on the well loved Sony 1080, but I am VERY interested in this. A comparison between them would be awesome as well! Keep it up!
143 watts would likely blow my vintage B&O S80's. Its looks great. Let's see all channels driven.
What is the difference between the RX-V6A and the TST-700?
Absolutely! A 7 channels driven test AT FULL RANGE is needed bad.
One major point I missed to mention in dislikes is lack of pre-outs. v585 doesn't have a pre-out so you cant attach a poweramp to it.
The fast forward or rewind function is not working with mp3 files on a usb pendrive (SanDisk 32GB) Anyone recognise this issue?
Hi brother. How far it is justifying for YouTube videos or movies and airtel xtream box? I am also using xtream box. Planning to buy AVR but I am confused wether it gives surround effect to only dolby or dts audio or even for stereo. Please revert back.
Nice review, very helpful bro.
Yamaha av receiver showroom address in Bangalore?

Hi Ravi, Very informative content. Can you please guide me to buy RX v585 or denon x1400, also can u suggest me the store u bought in bangalore. also please suggest speakers in budget max 20k,
Sir can the same receiver be used for polk s60 by bi amping, i am planning to add only polk s60 to my setup, so no other speaker for now.??
Does it have Dolby Pro logic? Or Dolby surround? And how does it work means does it convert stereo to 5.1?
Thanks for the review. You mentioned some issues you didn't like--just to confirm, are you on the latest firmware? (the latest I see on Yamaha Canada's website is dated April 2020)
Hi, I was planning to buy the same amp, the config I saw was 6ohm, which speaker should be perfect for this, 4/8 ohm
I heard you mentioned that you are using l12 sub, activ subs don't use AVR's power, so 585 doesn't power that. Only your LCR speakers are fetching the power from AVR.
Sir, I also have same 585 receiver..bought this June 2020...I face issues in Amazon Prime music connectivity...It oftens gives error Access Error in MusicCast app.
Any help sir?
Thanx in advance.
Please suggest speakers for rx v 585

I really like Yamaha, I bought two Yamaha MX-A 5000 for bi-amping my Klipsch speakers a few years ago and have yet to plug it in the wall. I was lucky and found a OPPO 205 ULTRA Blu-ray player and I just got an SVS PB ULTRA 16 and looking to buy another. Im sure it will kick booty once I put it together. I have the Yamaha MX-A 1000 and that baby rocks the neighborhood.
Yamaha always, always, always and another always has been the best receivers for the money. I've been with Yamaha since the early 90's and they're just rock solid all the way around. No, I didn't say they're the absolute best money can buy nor did I say they're the worst. But if you're just a beginner, just getting your feet wet and/or just want to plop down a couple grand for a top of the line stereo receiver you absolutely won't go wrong with a Yamaha . . .
The last really good receiver that Yamaha made was the RX-Z1, and that was 18 years ago. It was worth every bit of it's $2800 price tag.
Which one is better ? Denon X4700h or the yamaha 3080 ? Price / value/ Future compatiblity/ 3D Sound/ Quality...?
I have that receiver , awesome I bought a 2000.00 marantz before that one , it only lasted four months ! Not you but alot of the reviews I watched said marantz was the best, that's BS I will only buy yamaha . My last yamaha receiver lasted 19 years !
I was looking at the BnW anniversary series 600 edition as floor standing speakers and wanted to add a pre power amp
Is it ok to add an AV receiver instead.
My source of listening would be Rega planner 3
Or could you suggest me if I should get into 5.1 system that would serve both video and audio listening
My budget is $3000 inclusive of the Rega if I go in for 5.1
Kindly suggest thanks 🙏
Hey Andrew, nice video. Is there a chance that you tested the RX-A3080 with towers as main speakers for music?, i was wondering how does it sound and how do they sound in comparison with your sony 1080.. thanks!
I’m looking to upgrade to 7.2.4 I’m thinking of this receiver as it’s quite cheap for the specs or the x3700h. Currently got the x3300h pretty happy with Denon actually but never had a Yamaha
I have the Sony STR-DN1080 running everything, home theater and two channel music. It is good for movies but I am unimpressed with music. I am wondering if I should buy an amp and DAC for music and do two separate systems or replace the AVR with this unit or the replacement model for this one, when it comes out? Is this great for movies and two channel music. If it matters, I have the Klipsch RP 8000F models for my main speakers.
I'm feeling a little silly but here goes; (hope you are well great channel) I'm bothered to know if I can use my Yamaha RX V863 pre Amp outs to my main in's like we did with the "U-BAR'S" back in the day? I have a pair if these amps w ith a V2400 also. Big project in the works and I just need to know about the internal PREOUT to MAIN multi channel option, is it an option? Thanks, I'm subscribed and nowhere else really, looking forward to your answer!
Im wanting a receiver thats 5.1 digital receiver but want the easiest to set up
Hi Andrew thanks for your video.
I have model 3060 is there a point upgrading to 3080 what is the significant difference?
Your set up always looks so elegant and serene. Great design.
“It doesn’t stay on forever?” You’re just a talking head huh
I do like all the features except that I'm not sure If I'm going to need all 9.2 ch. But if I can get a 5.1 ch for a more accessible price that will be a really attracting offer for me.
please advise what is the compatible graphic equalizer for Yamaha Aventage RX-A3080.
So one thing I have noticed from watching so many videos on surround sound systems is knowing which receiver to use with specific speakers. for example using the correct receiver with the ohms your speakers have. I just purchased some SP-FS52 Pioneer Stand up speakers that are at 6 ohms. Someone told me I could use any receiver and it will work, however, then I watched some videos and it was recommend not to use an 8 ohm receiver with 6 ohms speakers. This gets more confusing. I am a newbie at all of this. Does this mean that since I have these 6 ohms speakers the rest of the speakers I purchase to complete my 5.1 surround sound should also be 6 ohms speakers? Please educate me. Thanks.
The horrible Tidal app operation through Musicast crosses it off for me.
Thinking of returning my Marantz sr7013 for the Yamaha rxa3080. Not completely happy with the marantz for what I paid compared to my previous receiver. Marantz sounds great, and works fine, but the interface, app and overall build quality isn't $2000 level.
