What does the best strings' guege for FG830 ?

OK. Less than a month ago I gave myself a major guitar "slapdown". I traded my Yamaha FG830 in on a Martin Dread. Martin is absolutely great. But today I visited the shop that I teaded the FG830 for the Martin and 830 was still there. I told myslf "Self you are going to buy that 830 back" I whipped out my Debit Card and slick as a whistle I had my 830 back!!! No mo trading this FG830. Ever again. My son owns an FG830 as well.

My youngest son bought his 830 from G C in Ft Worth Tx. I own a Martin and an Epiphone Dreads. I took his 830 to our bluegrass jam session. Even tho it's got a laminated back and sides it acquitted itself well against the Collings D1, Blueridge BR160, and a Gibson J45. So well I'm thinking of flipping the Epiphone which is all solid wood for an FG830. Son has the best laminated guitar with solid spruce top I've heard in the last 70 years I've been playing.

I have an FG 800m 3yrs old, it is modified with a bone bridge which has been lowered as has the action. I put Ernie ball Earthwood bronze alloy strings on it which to my ear sound fantastic, Yamaha strings are good but these sound and feel great. The overall result sounds fantastic to me, even against my Guild and Taylor guitars that cost much, much more. The Yamaha just feels like a players guitar, it’s not a wall decoration, and I play it every day. I’m tempted to get a an FG 830 but please note, it does not have solid rosewood sides, a point carefully omitted from most reviews. However, if it plays and upgrades like my FG 800m it will be great. Just a word on FG 700, it is a great guitar, but the FG 800 is a great improvement. Just a last thought, this guitar has been left sometimes for 4 months, yet when I pick it up again, it's still in tune. Rock solid tuners.
Should I buy Yamaha fg820 or fg830?
The 800 and 830 sound better than the 730, the scalloped bracing gives it rich bottom end and punchy mid-range. I sortve regret not getting the 800 but the finish was darker and just looked better on the 730 and was a little cheaper so I went with that.. but that low end has me thinking if driving back to exchange them! Then again it may be a bit too boomy for some mics whereas the 730 more balanced. The 800 definitely feels richer and better to play though. It has this sortve v neck spine in the neck that's very comfortable on satin finish
I need to get this action lightened up and thinner strings, are .009's a possibility?
After 2 months of research and a visit to guitarcenter, I am set to buy this guitar. Looks and sounds so good.
