HelloBro, I bought a 2TB WD MY PASSPORT extnl HD 3 days ago. When I send a file only 780 Mb to my passport from my laptop (which is slow I don't kno y) the speed is just 18 MB/S n when I send a folder containing lots of small file max speed is 12 mb/s n connection is in 3.0 usb port!!! M so confused if Amazone hd send me a duplicate item or is it due to my laptop??? Plz help

Have you opened the casing? On the old style USB3 "My Passport" drives they had soldered the connector directly to the drive so if the USB portion failed you lost all your data as you can't connect that style of drive to the PC. On these is it the same or is it a removable adaptor now?

WARNING----WARNING-----WARNING WD backup is totally screwed up it will not let you restore to a new computer and that is the very Ideal of what a backup is for don't take my post for it check out a search for WD backup will not restore and WD will not help or fix this problem

Is it that it contains advanced type c input? Does this mean that it is better than wd black 10p since the p10 does not contain Type c advanced entry?

Some people say the usb-c at 5gb/s is already slow and outdated and should be at least generation 2 at 10gb/s and soon 20-40gb/s. But, if the transfer speeds are only roughly 125 mb/s, what's there to complain about? It doesn't make even close to any difference at all. Even an ssd drive at 700-800 mb/s doesn't even use 20% of the usb-c generation 1, 5gb/s capability! I am trying to figure out what devices will be able to actually take advantage of usb-c at 5-40 gb/s? Hard drive companies will have to step way up. Maybe if they altered ssd drives for way more speed and got the price down somehow.
So, I got this drive but I'm having issues where it won't download games past 8MB a second. Overall that's slow now and days. I've tried going into device manager and changing the policy and nothing works, despite I have incredibly fast internet. Any solutions beyond this? Or could it be my laptop itself?
No body wants to talk about or show how to use the Software because it's so complicated, especially when trying to restore to 2 or more HD's. WD Tech support is positively TERRIBLE ! .
