I would NOT recommend this product. I purchased 1 March of 2017, it worked great for the 1st year, I was able to access it via Phn app which was a great thing and THEN around June of 2019 the blue led light started flickering which was very noticeable then It started flickering blue...I called WD support and we tried to get it back on line with NO luck, I asked what my options were about getting this product back online, well I was told by their support that I would have to contact an Outside business to crack and retrieve the hard drive and retrieve my information......Not GOOD & EXPENCIVE....Oh and by the way all this hard drive did was sit in a corner of my office, was NEVER dropped, Kicked or abused just stopped working...???

Just purchased the newer version of My Book 4TB - NOT WORKING AT ALL, not recognised by either of 2 computers, wasted hours trying to sort it out. This was my fifth WD external hard drive - all the others worked OK. WASTE OF MY MONEY!
The hard drive is not full 4 TB be cause windows calculates in GiB not GB, if you plug it into linux it says 4 TB :)
Can I use this as extra space for my ps4? I'm bad at this stuff...

my only complaint about this drive is you can't power it off with a switch, you have to use their software to do it. this is on the new model of the my book

Any performance difference between this and wd passbook ultra? I'm planning to buy 2tb one for keeping system image of my 1tb internal hdd which contains everything and is critical for me because two times i have lost my whole 500gb data which included my bros wedding photos and my important programs. It takes me 4-5 days to bring my pc back to normal in such cases that's why i have decided to go with a 2tb beast.

Can you make a video about the power button behavior? Or just answer in comments... If you turn off the drive, and then turn off the computer. When after a while you turn on the computer again (with the drive connected to computer's usb port) will the drive automatically turn on with computer? Or will you need to press the power button on the back of the drive in order to power it on? And does the power button need a special WD software in order to work properly?
Weird. I just bought one of these. But mine has no power button. It just turns on and off with my computer. And I can't believe how cool it stays, even after hours and hours of use. My HP Personal Media Drive always gets really hot when it's on. Very different from this MyBook.
