Is It True Titanium Bolt Not Easily Rust Than Stock Bolt On Any Kind Bike Like A MTB, Road, Etc?
Nice... Like you, I'm bored, just ordered matching titanium rotor/caliper/stem/stem cap/bottle cage bolts. I will bet that I'll save a whole 30 or 40 grams LOL,, but it'll look good doing it.
Grease or locktite?
I have received my red ones today 😃 Hope they will hold strong 😃
Nice upgrade Jase! if you brake hard enough for long enough your rotors will match also :)

I just installed this then removed it. What do you do about dust and debris getting inside? The original crank cap from Shimano actually cover the hole completely.

This is the video I was looking for. I have Polygon Premier 5. It has Cartridge BB. I want to clean it myself. Can you name the exact tools required to open?
Thanks for sharing!

Kiya price hh bottom bracket ka
Bearing alignment should be controlled by the faces of the bottom bracket not the BBs threading. Its purpose should strictly be to hold the bearings a fixed distance apart.
doesn't ensure perfect alignment, but can help to reduce movement within the shell, no?
What do you recommend instead?
That play won't happen when it's tight in the BB shell along with the Crankset spindle passing through the bearings and preloaded correctly. This is misleading people to a wrong conclusion.
I’m curious I currently trek pro caliber and I’m the second owner. When the bike was sold to me it came with the wheels mfg bb86 bearing for Stan cranks with 24 and 22 mm spindles. I’ve been been having an issue with it creaking I’ve tried to take it out and grease the thread and put locktite on the shell but it proceeded to creak. I’m positive it’s not my chainring as I’ve cleaned and greased the bolts. And I’ve tightened everything. Last time I took it out I torqued everything to spec. Is there anything I can do. Thanks
I have a question. Is this a theoretical problem, or you actually installed this kind of BB and occurred a misalignment caused by the reason you explained in this video? Thank You.
The cups are pulled into an interference fit recess in the frame taking out any play and making the screw thread solid, so the play you show in free state is irrelevant
I have one of these in my Cannondale Synapse Carbon. Who cares if the tolerances are slack, if it works fine? I did have some trouble with mine clicking , but I didn't tighten it enough. 35Nm torque is quite a bit.. Now its fine. Some people's fixation on tolerance issue really seems like more of an obsessive compulsive disorder issue than an actual, real world problem for people who just want to ride. If it didn't work, I'd agree, but it does.
And that's why I got a hambini race black for my cervelo S3 , 👍
Nice try... ahhh you are wrong. I have never seen a BB riding down the road by its self. Where is your frame shell in your testimonial? Does the BB press to the frame? Why yes it does. If you had zero tolerance on the threads, what would happen when you pressed it into a frame that was not faced & chased... you would induce a load on your carbon fiber frame... then what happens with that stored energy... carbon fiber cracks. You are so far off on your analysis, I have to wonder if you work for a Wheels Manufacturing competitor. Nick is right in his comment, as well as the frugis, and mjs1231. Dude, your video is really embarasing.
Man I love these kind of engineering videos keep up the good work Shiba been an early subscriber for a while you should have way more subscribers
Why not run the spindle though the bracket before it is tightened to act as a guide when it is tightened. Then finish the assembly of the crank.
If the threads had 0 play and you have a frame with a bb shell that is a bit warped so that the two sides are not as concentric as you'd like, wouldn't you run into the problem of the bb not being able to actual press in all the way and have immediately unhappy customers. As many bikes as we buy that are spit out rapid fire from Taiwan you gotta guess that this could happen.
You are wrong. Under tension from tightening and the pressure from the install clamping force all play is removed.
What are your thoughts on BBInfinite's solution of a unibody shell that presses into the frame? I've been using Praxis Works/ WheelsMfg BBs for BB30 and PF30 frames with some success. I mainly use screwed-together BBs but had trouble with a TT bike that is PF30 and running a Quarq Elsa with 30mm spindle on it. The product I chose is from Wheels Mgf and it presses together and relies on friction to retain the shape. It creaks and clicks and grinds and after watching your video, I think I know where the inefficiencies are coming from now. I learned a lot from @Hambini video about bearings and also from yours and curious if the BBInfinite solution is the way to go. Mr. Hambini's BBs also use a unibody approach but his stuff is more expensive compared to BBInfinite. My instinct is to go with BBInfinites PF30 - 30mm spindle BB w/ ABEC-7. Wanted to know what you thought. https://www.bbinfinite.com/products/pressfit30-30mm?variant=9864615555
maybe the threads are there to deal with another problem than the misalignment . maybe the squeeking or/and to provide a different way to assemble the bb instead of pressing it
Shiba, would you mind if I used some of your footage? I thought it was a very succinct description of the problem
