I am a subscriber to your channel, I have been trying to find your video on Victorinox Hunter XT but in vain. Kindly do a video on this tool. I like you videos because it very thorough and informative. Thank you.
Thanks for the very thorough video! The product number of the pouch you show in the video (4.0837.4) is different from the one in the description (4.0822.4). When I researched on the internet, 4.0837.4 is being recommended for the larger 130mm Ranger line and 4.0822.4 for 110mm SAKs as this Soldier 08. I am trying to order the right pouch for my Soldier 08 but know that I've seen your video I am confused. I guess my question for you is: Is the 4.0837.4 pouch you show in the video a little too big for your Soldier 08 given that there is a smaller 4.0822.4 pouch designed specifically for this knife? Thanks.
Very good SAK
Tres bon couteau suisse
Excellent couteau! J'ai le même ainsi que l'étui!
J'aime beaucoup le chant des oiseaux! Est ce que c'est un enrégistrement ou live? :)

ma façon préférée https://youtu.be/s8Nmfoxe_Ak
Have you seen this version?
You may not be too excited over it, sense it it specifically US Army version.
*But,* all the tools are black anodized! And its available for civilian purchase!
I'll be pickin one up soon enough.
Here is the link so you can see it.
i would like this knife but i am not a fan of the blade
I've always wondered why Victorinox did their serrated blades that way. Love the way you explained it.
I have used the Soldier as my EDC knife for 3 years now, let me tell you its a really good knife......the dual blade is great for everything from opening boxes at work, to cutting rope when you are outdoors, the saw is great for small branches, e.g. to start a fire or making a throwing stick for your dog, the can opener functions as a D large phillips as well as a small flat head, the pry bar is excellent for opening paint cans or lids that are stuck, the awl is perfect for creating a starting hole for a drill, the only part I don't like is the phillips driver next to the awl, I find that if you apply any kind of pressure on it; then it will fold to either direction and it is generally awkward to use. But that's my only complaint about the soldier, apart from that its a great knife
NOOOOO!!! You DON'T need a pocket clip attached to the knife!!! Use a holster, but never EVER put a clip on a pocket knife! It ruins the usefulness!
And a knife is a tool. You have to be a tool yourself to use it as a weapon. If only because you get hurt a LOT more if you use a knife as weapon.
I just ordered the us combat utility version of this knife. The first thing I'm going to do is remove the serrations from the blade and give it a smooth edge.
Man, this isn't a knife for defense, is just a multitool. Every soldier carry another knife or bayonet for defense. For that reason the blade doesn't need a tip, and is dented cos is more useful for a soldier (they cut a lot of ropes).
Had separate of handle and rubble when keep long term
Would also like to see a pocket clip and no serrations.
I don’t care for a belt clip, honestly. The knife is great as it is. Also, the play you found when opening the blade is normal in all of the Victorinox models with a lock. There’s nothing wrong with it.
For a soldier a pouch is a more secure carry for a medium sized knife like this. As for "fighting" and needing a pointier tip this really is not a combat knife but more of a utility knife. I think there is / used to be an actual Swiss Army issued combat knife for fighting.
I love this knife, but I needed a toothpick and tweezers, so I got the One Handed Trekker as well.
I was issued a Gerber multi-tool by the Air Force back in 2002 when I worked with them. It had a lot of tools on it but its to heavy to carry it inside your pocket. I finally got today the Victorinox Soldier Knife which is a German Army issue knife which I really like the design. I love it's weight and the tools in it which makes sense. Yes it does need a pocket clip on it as you said. During my time as an infantry soldier I like this design better. Back in the 1980s I used to carry the WWII style US Military stainless steel field pocket knife made by Camillus. Mines was made during Vietnam. I picked it up from a surplus store at home and had my parents send it to me when I got to my infantry battalion in Germany. I used it and carried it with me everywhere. I opened cans, opened ammo crates, used it to clean weapons, etc. It was so good that it got stolen. I didn't get one again after I came back from Iraq. Yes the Soldier Knife is a remarkable knife for all my needs better than the WWII Camillus field knife. I wonder since my Soldier Knife was German military issue. Did German soldiers have to turn their knives back in when they finished military service? Very strange? I was glad that I got my Gerber Tool from the US Air Force as a gift when I left them to go back into the Army.
Great knife. Wouldn't change a thing on it. That blade w/serrations will cut anything. I like the one hand blade opening feature. A little pricey, but those Swiss folks have to eat too.
Sorry but yeah it’s a soldiers night but the tip is not going to be that good for stabbing or slashing this is a secondary or a third line to all go to soldier would even be using if he is got down to the point where all he is got left is this then he is in bad shape and the war is over same way with pocket clip I mean now this is this is going to be stove somewhere where the soldier has a list amount of time to lose the thing it’s either going to be in a pouch sure it’s going to be somewhere in his pocket where I won’t be as hard to lose be gone in their marketing this is the soldiers clip so I will nap your spot on but you got a remember those of us who have been soldiers I know if I’m if I got a knife I’m gonna be using a bayonet anything else you know Rachel’s gonna be first bayonets going to be second pistol depending on what your issue but I don’t see a soldier really having a need for this as a last ditch weapon he be serve a pic with doing a battlefield pick up really other than that great Review
I every day carry a trekker wich is basically the same but black and full blade. I agree it should have a pocket clip. What I do is tie a small loop of 550 cord to it. I think it makes finding it in your pocket a little faster.
Unfortunately, I think Victorinox have really missed the mark with this knife compared to other modern alternatives. The tools are all fine but not including a saw blade here is a huge oversight. The biggest problem is the blade. It's effectively useless as a tactical blade (ineffective tip), lacks edge retention, the serrations suck (even your demo showed how relatively ineffective they were). The softer heat-treat is not a bad thing in an outdoor blade, nor is the corrosion resistance. 1.4116 (SAK knife steel) is tough enough but just how much hard use will a liner lock really take? One batoning session could destroy the liner lock and render the knife useless. This is a knife for "Desk Soldiers", not those in the field.
Yes, i can not understand a soldier knife without a good tip for self defense, it is a rounded tip.
The only place for a pocket clip is on your back-up knife on a Molle vest.
A very good knife, fine review, I too am on the waiting for mine to show up, plus it looks more concealable than my regular hunting knife, grant it I love my knife mind you since I have had it by my side since I was 12.
But overall having the blade for piercing advantage would be bad, a soldier knife should last longer then be sharper, now a pocket clip would not be bad but I would go string latch to my pants or belt.
A POCKET CLIP IS NOT NEEDED, WOULD YOU PUT A POCKET CLIP ON A BUCK 510, YOU DONT FUCK WITH TRADITIONAL KNIVES, VICTORINOX SENTINEL HAS A POCKET CLIP MODEL BUT ITS SHIT
The serrations of this knive cuts car belts? Like the rescue tool? 👍

I too have this in my collection.
And i love them
great swiss army knife! I also love how you just casually insulted scomo lol
I only fancied buying the Soldier but the Trailmaster has a pair of tweezers and a toothpick in the scales, while offering the same tool combination. I ordered the Trailmaster online last night.
Great piece of kit!
It closes one-handed easily in the left hand--and I'm righthanded. Just to mention... Cheers!
I've still got my first Victorinox pocket knife that I got as a boy. A bit scuffed but going strong! This one looks great!
