Victorinox Swiss Army Knife Classic SD | Knife Overview
who thinks this guys voice is he most annoying in the world
Won't leave home without one. But have the swisschamp or leatherman wave in my backpack if going to be out for more than half an hour
I like your New York accent its great!
Sir I disagree on what you say about the blade having limitations. It's more than capable of opening clamshell packages, boxes, and other packaging including mesh and zip ties. I don't just carry this - it sits in my coin pocket and I have a larger folder with me - but I use the Classic the most. The scissors are better than those on a Leatherman Squirt and also get a lot of use. As you rightly say, so small, light and inexpensive you don't notice it's there, but very functional. Not a standalone EDC knife but still an EDC knife as it serves it's purpose in conjunction with another pocket knife, who said EDC has to consist of just one knife anyways
i saw one on a counter display at a car wash when i was 8 years old. i begged my mom to buy it for me. it was so usefull it felt like a superpower. i've kept a 58mm sak on me for the last 40 years. they just seem to outwork any edc in my kit...year after year.
Will the tweezers fit the leatherman style cs slot.
I like this guys accent
I have a recruit(I think) in my car, and this on me at all times, except airports etc.
i have the rambler on my keychain... i dont even know its there....but when i need it...BOOM..I LOVE IT.not the best for cutting big stuff, but if i needed to chop a ships rope in half..it would do it.if i needed to cut a bandage ..it gets it done....if i need to get a small phillips screw out...BOOM DONE.AHGH....I NEED A BOTTLE OPENER...BOOM DONE.the rambler is probably the best knife in the world...it is always with you on your key chain...and you dont even know it..until needed...oh yes a gurkha knife would do it better..but this thing just gets it done....
My dad gave me this when I was 10 lost it and found it it's still with me it's very handy
its a great office desk knife
Would you recommend this if you already carry a pocket knife
Totally designed wrong.. Knife opens towards the keychain.. Which makes it useless when attached
Perhap you could take a dremel and some needle files and turn the main blade into a cap lifter, or some other simple tool, if legality is a concern?
I love the version that replaces the toothpick and tweezers with a pen and light. The tools are far from great, but its a backup for the stuff that I use most often around town. A TSA-friendly version would be awesome.
You said that it would be cool if Victorinox made something like this without the blade so it'd be TSA approved...well they do, but maybe they didn't at the time you uploaded this. The Jetsetter has a 3-function utility tool instead of a blade, a bottle opener/wire cutter with a Phillips screwdriver on the end, although tbh the wirecutter won't strip or cut wire unless you sharpen it. There is also a Jetsetter work with nailclippers but it's outrageously expensive for what it is.
Who else has a black version
Sir want this knife plz reply
I have one of these but its white
Two words: Leatherman Micra
I was dating a girl who bought me one of these, even had my name put on it(natural wood grain finish). Weve been married for 9 years now:)
Buy a 6mm square by 6mm hex adapter on Amazon and use your phillips screwdriver (or cap lifter) as the shank. I learned this 'trick' from Nikos Doulas NikGyver! :)To be fair to the Surge, it has much bigger pliers, so this is the main reason why it has the bigger size. If someone needs bigger pliers on a daily basis, they will go Surge for that reason. That's why they should not be compared.
Nothing better than a Swiss Army knife for EDC. I carry the Explorer plus in the coin pocket of my jeans and a Spyderco PM2 in m390 in the left pocket!
The fish scaler is a great tool for ripping quickly through cardboard boxes, and being a generally useful poking/prodding device.
Metal file/saw is amazing on the victorinox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEDdIaMpnioHands down flat out beat everything. Gerber a close second and leatherman and sog equal last.
The magnifying glass got cheaper.
Who needs a designated bottle opener?
Very nice review, well balanced, nostalgic a bit, and practical. I thought the option of the Champ as a knife sheath pocket add on was smart...
kossuth lajos messaged thathe ran out out of his regimentif he messages that once morewe will all have to golong live the hungarian freedomlong live the nation
Too big heavy and clunky, get a smaller standard size, saved you 20 minutes.
I just bought this yesterday for myself as a Christmas gift from Canadian Tire, Brandon, Manitoba. God bless everyone
Regarding the file and metal saw - I have SwissChamp for 20 years now and the metal saw is bent and file is not great. I wouldnt say I used them often, but would love to replace them
Duuuuude.....the Opener layer is THE reason to own a SAK!
I just got one of these well not this one but same company with 15 gadgets
Love the review great video. Just subscribe your channel
The hook makes a great boot or skate lace tightener.
you did not mention the pin inside the knife which you can swap for a needle
Mine fits fine in the pocket! No problems. I don't find it that big at all
I've had mine since the mid 90's. My mom said I'd need it. She was right, Still use it often.
I cant decide, swisschamp or the explorer
Congratulations to Kevin Wiliams for winning the Knife Center Exclusive Swiss Army Pioneer. Keep your eyes peeled for the next KnifeCenter Giveaway.
Good video. This channel has really improved.
I hate the cork screw.
a victorinox is always on my belt. as the boyscout motto: be prepared. i have owned a few different models in the last 50 years and i think they are the best designed and made of all the knives i own. razor sharp and lifetime guaranteed.
The Wenger scissors make the Victorinox ones look like crap.
Is a corkscrew AND philips head too much to ask for?
Before the Leatherman type of multitool this was the go to gadget.
I bought my SAK back in the mid 90's. I didn't remember what it was called so I went to the official website and it turned out to be a red Spartan (the Tourist has the same 12 functions but is a bit smaller). Obviously the pen dried up a long time ago but everything else still works as if it was new. Awesome tool.
I used Swiss Army Knife for years. Even early in my military career I still used the old fashion traditional knives until I started to get issued Leathermans.Well, I've been out of the military for years now. I've still got a few of my old pocket knives laying around. Recently I learned that the US Military had adopted a Swiss Army Knife as its combat utility multi-tool. I have a previous version of this multi-tool. I got it from my dad as part of a lineman's kit the army issued him back in the 1970s. I still have the whole three piece kit. The full leather sheath, the multi-tool, and the wire cutters that ironically don't have any handle wrap. It is a straight metal tool so shocks would be a concern when using this tool. But I digress ...So I was curious to see the new tool. With minimal effort I found a few vendors that carried the knife. I also found it interesting that the US military adopted a Swiss Army Knife that had slight variations in use with the Swiss and Germany armies. The US military took the Swiss variant and tweaked it just a little to meet their needs. As I type this I have the US military variant on the desk beside me. That knife is now part of my EDC.On a side note, if there is an "official" sheath for this knife I've yet to come across it. But Victorinox makes a sheath for their knives. I bought that one. But if anybody knows if the US Army has a sheath that they issue with this knife, I'd be interested in knowing that.
Me 10: i love saksMe 16: nah they re not cool.Me 27: i bought 2 new saks.
I always carry a Victorinox Pioneer Alox with me with a 4mm Paracord Lanyard
I wish I was in the Swiss Army.
why are the onyx colours like 2x the price :( my poor ass loves the onyx ranger grip 55 but can only just afford the stander colour :(
I really want a swiss army knife, but I don't have one. HE MAKES ME WANT TO BUY ALL OF THEM!
The Hiker is my favorite! It has what I want, without anything I don't need. What I would really like would be a Allox Hiker, that would be perfect!
Such a nice guy
Im really starting to like his guy. He seems like a solid dude.
You definitely under-covered the MiniChamp. You should have at least shown it with its tools open. It is unique. Also, their is a thinner, non-lite version, plus a much thinner Alex version. The aloe version feels very premium/dense in the hand and excellent in the pocket. It has definite gravitas for its size. The so-called emergency blade is excellent, and the cut-and-pick is surprisingly useful.

How is the scissor? I bought a dollar store pocket knife and it was shit, but it looks pretty much the same as the Victorinox. I need a good one while fishing to cut line etc..
The biggest flaw in this knife is the key ring. It should be in the other end of the knife, that way you could use the blade when it is hangin from your keys. Now this is just junk.
yo so dang flipen cool dude
The Manager is pretty sweet.
My favorite has got to be the huntsman, but if your talking survival knife then the Swiss champ
My favorite swiss army knife is my compact
Explorer
Mini Champ is my favorite. TWO blades. Rough one up? Use the other.
God I wish this had a bottle opener, it would be perfect. All it needs is a notch in the back of the screwdriver tool. The signature lite is cool too, but the tweezers are too useful. And it still lacks a bottle opener.I like the rambler as well, but it's a little thicker and doesn't come in the cool designs the SD does.
This knife: exists(the world seent it)Review: complete
Super Tinker is my fav'! If only there was a version with a nail file instead of the small blade!...
The Mini-Champ is the best for a keyring knife, IMO. I'm on my 2nd. It may be small but you can get them screaming sharp.
