Thank you for the nice review! I've got 3 questions for you: 1. Does it have to be fed with batteries for the shutter release function, or it is fed from the camera itself? 2. I heard some friction noise of the ball-head while you were moving with the grip. Has it become smoother by time? Coz I read some reviews on amazon.de complaining about the extraordinary stiffness of head's sliding on the ball-head. 3. How much is the max weight capacity of this head, and  do you by chance know if it can be mounted on Vanguard Alta Pro 283CT too? Thanks again!

In My Box there is a Cable TN 2(Nikon MC-DC2). The TN2 Cable is compatible with the Following Cameras: Nikon D90, D600, D3100, D3200, D5000, D5100, D5200, D7000, D7100! For my Nikon D800E, I have to buy the cable TN1(about 20 €). I also received two cables, but one is for Canon. I left Canon in the year 2012 and I switched to Nikon. But I have tried the cable TC2 with my old Canon: the autofocus works with the GH-300T Pistol Grip! Now I just have to wait for the cable TN1 for my Nikon D800E.
Yes, it works for autofocus. I received two cables in mine. What does it say on your box?
Yes, I tried with my old camera, the button on GH-300T Pistol Grip can also put the images in focus. In any case, it is very fast. You have to get used to it.
The shutter button on the head, it works with the autofocus? Can you focus(by pressing the button halfway), move the camera to recompose, and then take a foto(by pressing the button all the way down)? Yesterday I bought this tripod, but the the included cable was the TN2. I have to buy a new cable, a TN1.
I have some feedback. I got my pistol grip back. They exchanged it for a new one. It now works great. Movement is smooth and its not that stiff anymore. Have you returned your pistol grip?

Mine is also very stiff. When I loosen it almost all the way it works ok. I also have the same question about the stiffness. My cable connector at the bottom is not always connecting so I will be sending mine back and also request an answer on the stiffness. Anyone else having an issue with this?
Hi - I just bought this for my D5100 and 300mm f4, the combination works great. Have a concern though: the pistol actuated ball movement works but I find the spring pressure on the release a little heavy and that the ball is still pretty stiff (even with the friction control switch completely loosened)...Please advise if that is how it is or could be a potential defect in mine.

Wish they sold this kit for the 264, I take my tripod out everywhere so would appreciate the smaller folded down size. They have wonderful deals for the 263s that make it pretty great value but for the 264 I can only find the legs on their own 😪 Great video though, in either case it's convinced me I need this tripod in my life!
Nice tripod, I love my Vanguard tripod, as a matter of fact I bought it after seeing one of your videos, the Alta 204AP, I even have an table tripod from Vanguard the VS-82, they are excellent tripods!
Looks alarmingly like a firearm, would not want to use where armed police were!
Regular pistol grip + 3rd party remote release + duct tape. Way cheaper alternative. LoL
