As usual, Park Tool is my go-to resource on YouTube for bike service. Just picked up a bike with hydraulic brakes which Ive never owned in the past, right from the shop I heard a little rub on the rear brake. This alignment of loosening, holding the brake and then tightening is quite possibly the easiest thing Ive ever done to fix my bike. Thank you.

What if the rotor is rubbing against the break housing? lol i just bought a new bike and can't figure how how to fix it. Took everything apart and rebuilt but no change.
So, I did not see my issue. I have a brand new bike. The bike came with SRAM brakes and rotors. But, I have another set of wheels that has same size rotors but in Shimano. The bike has not been outside at all yet. Only trainer. I put on the wheels with the Shimano but hear a ticking on one wheel. How can or should I adjust to that the pads are set for both sets of wheels and rotors? Great vid and tutorial thanks

Okay, but, at 3:48 until 3:55, when you stopped the scraping by adjusting that one bolt, there is still the other bolt to tighten up more, correct?... and then, the bolt that you adjusted also has to be tightened up some more. So is there a big chance of misaligning the pads while tightening up the bolts those last few turns?Or... when i have the pads aligned while adjusting say, one bolt like you did, do i have to tighten that bolt i am adjusting tightly first, and then go retighten the other bolt tightly?

I hate Torx as well .
You don't need a tool. Just squeeze and tighten and all is centered.
Went ahead and bought the Birzman tool, and can say it does the job nicely! Even get to give one of the three that come in the package to a road cycling buddy.

Why is this any better than just squeezing the brakes onto the rotors without the gap tool? I'm not saying it isn't better, just wondering.
I totally agree Clint - My Sram Apex 1 piston calliper and rotor tolerance appear acute - However not a bad thing but do require you to accurately centre them because of the callipers POST MOUNT TOLERANCES - Which is a superior mounting system as long as the post mount faces have been accurately machined. Sram's use of torx head bolts for calliper mounting requires you to torque them up PERFECTLY SQUARE ON otherwise you damage both bolt & Torx head driver - So I'll be changing out mine for Allen head bolts. The calliper / rotor cantering tool is excellent as is your earlier advice of using a credit card. Happy pedalling & best wishes

Torx sucks!! Have had the same issue with sram brake bolts, horrible
I find it works better if you pump the brakes then carefully tighten them while there isn't any pressure. The tool will help set the new settling point for the caliper as that's where the rubbing is happening.

I ordered one from your suggestion from another video, it sounds great! There is a small plastic safety looking ring over one of the bolts on the front fork that attaches my shimano caliper. Can I loosen the bolt with that plastic ring/clip on the bolt or do I have to remove it each time? Do you even know what Im talking about? Haha
