Just bought a new sworks stumpjumper evo and it has a 34.9 seatpost diameter but my dropper is a 31.6. It came with a shim for a 30.9 which obviously didnt work but I dont see why there would be any problems with the seatpost shim system. Seems like a great solution to me.
Need help i got my seatpost and shim stuck on frame how to remove that?

shim good idea for old bikes?
I used to shim on my seat post because I wanted a different seat post. One that had suspension. But now my seat twists every time I get off and on the bike. There’s no way to tighten it enough so that it won’t twist. So in my opinion, no it is not a good idea to use a shim.
I use shims on some old bikes. Its just hard to find nice 26.4 or 26.8mm seatposts haha.

You didn't mention grease. How often do you grease the seatpost?
