Tribology - The branch of science to study the details of interfaced surface interactions & their consequences like rubbing, friction, wear & lubrication. Detailed surface properties are investigated like micro to nano level roughness, grip, contact holding properties & all. There are two types of surface contacts - (i) Stationary contact (No relative motion at contact interfaces). Here, gripping capacity is studied to hold & maintain the contacts. (ii) Dynamic contact (Relative motion at contact interfaces). Gripping as well as motion transmission is investigated. Consequence of friction like wear, rubbing & resulted surface quality is studied. Supporting factors like temperature, contact stresses, contact deformations, noise, etc are investigated in detail. To avoid the above undesired consequences, various physical mechanisms of lubrication are studied. Which to use under what circumstances, which to use with efficient energy consumption & which not are completely studied. This topic is very hot most important almost in every industry from automotive to power & from power to manufacturing. This topic also has very unique importance in research & development (R&D).
