Great video, very informative. If the unit 3 worked correctly without the wall problem am I correct in saying the WiFi connection between the unit 3 and unit 1(main hub) gets passed on by unit 2(the one in the hallway)?
With the Powerline AV600, did you: 1- Plug in your Deco via ethernet to the AV600? 2- Enable TP Link ethernet backhaul since you're using ethernet to connect your M9?
Do you have two wireless bands? One for 2.4 ghz and another one for 5ghz? or are they combined?
Hi, Great video! Im thinking of getting the TP-Links M9 for my home. I also have an old house like you (about 400 year old) and have very, very thick walls. Im not technical so dont understand how the powerline works in relation to the Mesh. Is it connected in any way to the Mesh or is it a separate thing that runs via the home electrical cables? If it is the latter then why do you need the mesh when you could just have a few powerlines to do the same job? Sorry if this is a dumb question? Regards Richard
If you see difficulties or dead spots then the cure is to add extra deco .mean you need the forth deco to be added to your big house..is not necessarily the forth deco to be m9 ..You can add M5 or any of tp link deco series , and doesn't effect the mesh

Thinking of replacing all our wifi extenders which have been added on over the years, few units of TP link sockets and 2 old units of Apple airports. Noticed you have a sky router. Did you have to disable the wifi on sky? We have sky q hub and mini boxes mesh network. Just wondered if I have to disable the wifi or if both mesh network can work side by side.
I have tried pretty much most solutions over last 20 years and the Mesh ones too. I have found the Devolo Magic 2 the best as long as your wiring is good. Its a powerline mesh solution. The speeds are good enough for 4k . It doesnt like anti pest plug in devices

Your speed tests were not accurate, you were testing the speed through the app which will only tell you how fast your speeds are from your modem to the router. You need to run a speed test on the phone itself to be accurate. How has no one else mentioned this.

The speed test you are doing is speed between deco and your provider. Not between deco and the mobile. 😜
Is the Anti-Virus Protection plan free for 36 months and then you have to pay for the service after that? Which anti-virus software is used so I can go research it more and see what the cost will be after the free period?
good unbox, unfortunately, the speed test you did on the app, is for the speed between the modem and the main router "ONLY" not the speed you're actually getting via WIFI to your device.
My app shows a much higher download speed then when checked through various other online sites. Seems fishy.
Can you set parental controls for certain devices - ie my daughters tablet/laptop? I don't want to limit the adults in the household but I do want to limit my daughter.
You didnt mention the big issues with the deco m9 plus, it does not support viewing which device is connected to which deco and which device is connected to 5ghz and which to 2.4ghz, V1 has this feature and V2 is NOT. Big issue for tp link
AP Mode (Bridging) Lots of Service Providers these days provide internet routers in which you can't place the modem into bridging mode, so this causes the dreaded "double nat" which has issues for services such as XBOX and PS4 to name a few. If you enable "AP Mode" on the Deco M9 to resolve the "double nat" you will lose most of the benefits provided by this system.
The main thing that you didnt even mention is showing the devices connected, which device is connected to which node etc
My house isn't big but old. Thick walls. I needed 6 of these to make it decent.

Hello, just recieved the deco m9 triple pack. Also ordered a TP-LINK TL-SG108 - Switch. Question, should I connect te switch to my modem, than the deco to the switch? Is this the same result if I connect the deco to my modem and connect the switch to the deco?

If you want to change your life use MOCA adapters with your coax wires to do ethernet backhaul.

The problem with Deco M9 is that it cannot set more than 2 Main Deco. I've got 2 different deco on different location connected by LAN cable but only 1 main deco can be set as internet sources. Causing secondary deco to have slower speed than primary deco. I dont want to set multiple SSID i want to connect to the deco by using 1 SSID with both deco connected by LAN cable so that connection will be very fast, unfortunately it cannot be done
Would you get a faster speed if you plugged an Ethernet cord in directly from one of the remote nodes or would it be about the same?
Will this compatible with HYPPTV? Unifi should be no problem, but HYPPTV need certain port enable (e.g. Lan 4). Thank you
I just set up Deco M5 in Router mode. Main deco has one port connected to modem, and I want the second port connected to a DVR box that powers my home's CCTV system. But the DVR is not receiving Internet from the second port. I did the same thing with a satellite Deco and it works, but main Deco not working. Is there a way to solve this?
i think access point is still better such that you will get full speed all the time. just buy a 2nd router and make an access point. just need to be rajin a bit la to lay the wire from main router all the way to desired place.
Let's assume that everyone in Malaysia have 3 storey houses. LOL. if you live in a single storey house, you don't need to have the mesh wifi. The router is more than enough, unless your house is like 1km long from the front to the back. (hehehe).

Great router imgs.love/TPRouter?ab I ordered the two pack for our smaller home that has signal issues due to a centrally located kitchen. I have both routers connected by cat6 cable and switches at both ends supporting 4 streaming devices and a home office. Routinely have 34 plus devices connected and no lost connections and wifi is actually the speed we pay for. App is great too. Works great if your house has dead zones and you run a lot of devices. Only cons so far is the units themselves tend to run warm, so keep that in mind as you place them. I put 1/2 clear vinyl bumpers under them for more air flow. Made a marginal difference. Highly recommend.

Hi, I bought the m9 plus and I'm waiting for it to arrive. But I have a question that I hope its not a problem. I have wireless security cameras around the house and they only connect to 2.4GHZ, since the deco is one ssid and I cannot separate the 2,4 and 5 ghz, i want to know if there will be issues connecting them to the 2.4GHZ band and how the deco will know to connect them to this band and not to the 5ghz band. Another question, is there any where I can see which of my devices is currently connect to the 5ghz and which are connect to the 2.4 ? on each of the decos looking forward to hear from you

Hey, I have a question. I bought the TP-Link Deco M9 Plus Smart Home Mesh with an extra deco. So 4 in total. My main Deco is plugged into the wall with ethernet for straight connectivity. 2 other deco's connect with the main deco from another room for an optimal connectivity in house. Now I need to reach another room that is kind of far away from those 3 deco's. This signal doesn't reach this room... What I can do is set up this deco in this seperate room with ethernet! But then it seems the deco can only work as an independant wifi network... can this deco also be part of the same WIFI system? For user friendly-ness it seems more interesting that the 4th deco is part of the same wifi network.
This works without landline tho?
