    tp-link AC2200 Deco M9 Plus - Better than the Deco M5?
This is a very detailed review that includes unboxing, setup, mobile application review and speed test. The TPLINK Deco M9 was just released today.
FYI speed test if from main deco to internet. not from your phone. I can do speed test even when I am not on the network and will get the same value.
Your speed test is not correct in the way you presented it.
Can I link my ham radio hot spots (Openspot 2 & a 3) as well as raspberry Pis to this system?
Your speed tests were not accurate, you were testing the speed through the app which will only tell you how fast your speeds are from your modem to the router. You need to run a speed test on the phone itself to be accurate. How has no one else mentioned this.
Great review. Do you know the length of the included cable?
does the main piece connect to a jetpack via wifi? there is no ethernet option to connect this to the jetpack.
Great review. Can I buy extra hubs to put around the house?
The speed test you are doing is speed between deco and your provider. Not between deco and the mobile.
Is the Anti-Virus Protection plan free for 36 months and then you have to pay for the service after that? Which anti-virus software is used so I can go research it more and see what the cost will be after the free period?
good unbox, unfortunately, the speed test you did on the app, is for the speed between the modem and the main router "ONLY" not the speed you're actually getting via WIFI to your device.
My app shows a much higher download speed then when checked through various other online sites. Seems fishy.
Can you set parental controls for certain devices - ie my daughters tablet/laptop? I don't want to limit the adults in the household but I do want to limit my daughter.
You didnt mention the big issues with the deco m9 plus, it does not support viewing which device is connected to which deco and which device is connected to 5ghz and which to 2.4ghz, V1 has this feature and V2 is NOT.Big issue for tp link
AP Mode (Bridging)Lots of Service Providers these days provide internet routers in which you can't place the modem into bridging mode, so this causes the dreaded "double nat" which has issues for services such as XBOX and PS4 to name a few. If you enable "AP Mode" on the Deco M9 to resolve the "double nat" you will lose most of the benefits provided by this system.
The main thing that you didnt even mention is showing the devices connected, which device is connected to which node etc
My house isn't big but old. Thick walls. I needed 6 of these to make it decent.
I heard this product has been discontinued is that true?
Thanks for the review detailed EBP I am looking at this 3 unit Tp Link as well as the Netgear Orbi. What are your thoughts? Does one out weigh the other? Thank you in advance. And really do appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos.
Nice Video - Should I turn off the wifi radio coming out of the main router from the ISP and just let my DECO do his thing? Or it's best to let them work side by side? Thanks!
Ive been looking for a Wi-Fi mesh to work with my TP Link Powerline , this looks like it could be the solution ! Great video, nice picture and sound too ! Also you have a beautiful home ! Subscribed !
why not a deco p9 instead?
Hello, interesting video, we have a similar setup to you, ie old house in Wales with lots of stone walls. I have just bought 3x M9's in the hope to finally sort this out. I'm using Ethernet backhaul as well (as powerline doesn't work for us). We are also on Sky, FTTC here and I've been looking at running OpenWRT on a BT Openreach modem then into a Firewalla Gold that's another story really. What I really wanted to know if you had tried extending the network outside with a TP-Link EAP225 or similar?ThanksJonathon
This is great, I did like the Power-line connection part to go through the brick wall because I have the same issue. Thanks!
Just found your channel as I was hoping to use the Deco M9 system. I noticed that you had a Sky Hub and wondered how you connected the Deco to Sky as some people have mentioned having problems with Sky Q Hub? Any help would be appreciated.
Beautiful home! So to solve the last wifi issue, you actually used a different product from TP Link, not the Deco M9?
Just what Im looking to do also.. and you have answered a long unanswered question that I can use powerline adapters that I already have in use alongside a mesh network. Thank you for this fantastic video tutorial. Can I just ask did you put the router into modem mode before you connected the mesh units?
Amazon eero is best and cheapest.
Great video, very informative. If the unit 3 worked correctly without the wall problem am I correct in saying the WiFi connection between the unit 3 and unit 1(main hub) gets passed on by unit 2(the one in the hallway)?
With the Powerline AV600, did you:1- Plug in your Deco via ethernet to the AV600?2- Enable TP Link ethernet backhaul since you're using ethernet to connect your M9?
Do you have two wireless bands? One for 2.4 ghz and another one for 5ghz? or are they combined?
Hi,Great video! Im thinking of getting the TP-Links M9 for my home. I also have an old house like you (about 400 year old) and have very, very thick walls. Im not technical so dont understand how the powerline works in relation to the Mesh. Is it connected in any way to the Mesh or is it a separate thing that runs via the home electrical cables? If it is the latter then why do you need the mesh when you could just have a few powerlines to do the same job? Sorry if this is a dumb question?Regards Richard
If you see difficulties or dead spots then the cure is to add extra deco .mean you need the forth deco to be added to your big house..is not necessarily the forth deco to be m9 ..You can add M5 or any of tp link deco series , and doesn't effect the mesh
    Thank you;...........................love your home.
    Wow beautiful house!
Hi, a very beautiful house.Could I kindly ask for the distance between each Deco device ? I would like to have some sort of comparison in terms how far a good signal is based on the distance. Thanks in advance.
Thinking of replacing all our wifi extenders which have been added on over the years, few units of TP link sockets and 2 old units of Apple airports. Noticed you have a sky router. Did you have to disable the wifi on sky? We have sky q hub and mini boxes mesh network. Just wondered if I have to disable the wifi or if both mesh network can work side by side.
I have tried pretty much most solutions over last 20 years and the Mesh ones too.I have found the Devolo Magic 2 the best as long as your wiring is good. Its a powerline mesh solution. The speeds are good enough for 4k .It doesnt like anti pest plug in devices
Does your home have a WiFi problem? Let us know!
Thanks so much for the video. Could you help clarify: I have Synology NAS attached to my Maxis router. Will Deco M5 affect it? Or can I connect M5 direct to router and use same SSID and password? Thanks.
Just wanna ask, i stay rumah flat, should i buy the 2 packs or just 1 pack is enough for flat house
Excellent review. Really informational and nice comparison to a normal router
Hi Warren, Ive been using the M9+ over a year now and I didnt realised there can be the same SSID for all the nodes until I saw this video. Is there something have gone wrong during my setup process? I have to switch a network to another when my wifi signal is getting weaker around the house
installed this recently. Superb! got maximum speed throughout the house and seamlessly.
Where did u connect the M9 to at the Alcatel BTU?
wanna ask how come my Deco M9 plus still need the old router to connect try b4 to replace existing old router as the video shown dat the mesh only connect wif the gateway ?pls help thanks
Wonderful explanation! Thank you for your insights on this mesh wifi system.
My wifi keeps dropping and it affects my cctv recording. Will the TP_Link Deco help resolve the problem?
Could you also please explain if there is a mixture of m9 plus which is a tri band + usage of x20?
Best review of the deco M9 plus out here! Clear explanation
    1) Can TP Deco M9 be a main router and replaces the Unifi Router? Hence I only connect one M9 to modem and another node on the second floor?2) If my house is 4000sqft, shouldd i get 2 packs of TP Deco to cover the entire house?
Can this deco connect to unifi tv white stb with Lan?
If u place the mesh wifi at test point C/D/E. is it need to connect to RJ45 as well? Or just plug in at electric plug only?
    Ma man!
Hi! I am not sure if you guys gonna see this but I hope you do! I currently have a router and a modem (traditional WiFi system), and recently got the Deco M4. What I currently do is plug one of the node into one of the LAN slot of my Maxis router. What I am wondering is that is it possible to replace the router altogether with just one node? Meaning use one of the node as my router and place the other 2 nodes across the house. Hope to hear from you guys! Thanks :)
definitely you dont need M9 plus model while you are subscribing 100Mbps.. just a waste of money.. E4/M4 is more than sufficient for your scenario..
    Good review
kalau pakai deco m9 ni, tak payah pakai router asal tm ke camne?

Not sure if it's me or my ISP is giving me a lot of issues. I seem to get disconnected a lot and it would take a few minutes to reconnect. It seems like it was doing fine for months then I started having some issues. I was wondering if there was a firmware update. I found one and updated it but now it seems like I have more dropped connections. Is anyone else having the same issue?
Can this be used in conjunction with a traditional router c5400x
Do I need a modem with this system? I have the M5 and it's working fine without a modem. Would it be faster if I had a dedicated modem?
Hello, please tell me what usb is for on the router unit?
If Im already using a wireless access point should I install one of the M9s next to it or does that defeat the purpose.
    Sorry for the brakeup bud
Now that the X20 is out time for a new comparison
At 3:08 - that's not true. You can log in from your computer through you LAN IP.
I have a 2 yr old Arris Surfboard modem/router. Does one of the units have to plug into the Surfboard or can all three be connected via the surfboard wifi? If its needed to connect one unit to the Surfboard, do I disable the Surfboard wifi? Any help is appreciated..Thanks
We literally get 10mbps download and about 1 upload in my house. Haha
Hi, do your mind to do a mix mesh setup and compare the speed ? E.g. Main set as M9 Plus and other mesh with M5 .. Really hope to see the result and this is change my thought whether to upgrade my M5 to M9 plus. Thanks again.
    I
You forgot to mention that IP reservation can only be done for 8 devices. I have deco M9+ and the network kept dropping. I thought it will be problem with modem, and so I changed my modem 2 times already with no luck. Connected to provider, modem company and deco support. Provider and modem said everything looks good and issue with with Deco. After contacting Deco they were not able to help with anything. Return period is over, co cannot return it.
I have a dumb question. With this mesh system, dose it still require the traditional router as main base? Thanks
Wasted us a lot of time talking about useless thing, the video useful part only about 2 mins.
hey, quick question!? what would be the speed of the gigabit ethernet ports if the hub only picks up wireless signal? Would they not be the max wireless speed? tia
How many feet away was the device in the bedroom from the router?
