Do additional deco units require an ethernet connection or can they be placed anywhere (as long as they're powered, obviously)?
First I connected one deco, I want the other deco (let's say in 1st floor). How do I do that
If i plan to put a modem in my room, and i want the tv in the hall which is outside and not so far, can i use just 1 deco side by side my current modem to cover the whole 700+ sq ft house which will be from my room? Also if i wanna use LAN connection for my PC, will it be from the deco to my pc or the original modem to my PC?
Hindi pala wall mountable ito?
May I ask I have 1 Deco M5 I've been using it for 5 months and Im planning to buy another M5 but instead DECO E4 ..
Can My DECO M5(router) can pair with DECO E4 ?
Will this create another SSID?
Does it support 5G connection?
Our mesh ac1300 have relatively good wifi signal but the ethernet is very slow. Is it normal?
How to Setup Public TP-Link WiFi Mesh using TP-Link Archer AX20 WiFi 6 Router and RE605X WiFi 6 Range Extender.
So can 2 or 3 pucks all be wired for better connections? Or just the main.
I have a tplink Ax20 1800 Wi-Fi 6 router so I take it they will work together and can all be wired
i am going to watch the video, just wanted to ask a question first, do i need to turn my router into modem mode before i can use this ?
Ok, that video did not answer any of my questions.
Can i place the main deco which is wired to the router as far as 3 meters away?
Very poor review
Can i connect my deco to the main router via WiFi?
Will I get to use the internet if I put the other deco in another house?
I would just like to add this comment and I hope it can help others.
For those who are asking if a wifi mesh is compatible with prepaid wifi modems, yes it is. I have two Deco M5 wifi mesh and already tried it with the R051 PLDT prepaid wifi and it works. Just like to let you know that it does not boost the speed of your internet but it creates a stable connection and eliminates dead spot zone. (You can still configure deco to maximize internet speed on the app) I placed my main deco in my office and the other deco was placed 30 meters away from it and it is still stable. Though the speed decreases since I only have two but it can still get me up to 7-10 mbps download speed which is enough for internet surfing. (If near to the main deco I get around 20 - 25 mbps) Of course speed is different if the deco is connected to a wired connection. I get around 45 mbps maximum out of my 50 mbps pldt fibr wired subscription and the least that I can get with the other deco is around 15-20 mbps. The main deco is the only one that is needed to be connected to your main internet modem/router then the other one can just be connected wirelessly to your main deco. I used a cat6 lan cable just to maximize speed.
My mesh keep blinking red
Does it have a whitelist mac address function? Meaning to prevent any device to connect to Decos apart the ones I will provide their mac addresses
Can this be used as a wired repeater if one has many ethernet wire available at different locations?
I am near to the main deco but I cant connect to the main deco but connected to the kitchen which is 20meters away with strong signal, but when i turn off the kitchen I can connect to main deco but weak signal 7meters away open area.

So just wondering so a mesh system is a secondary router so you should get the same speed as the home one
Will I need to disable the SSID on my router so it won't interfere with this?
I have ethernet ports in most of my rooms, am I able to plug each of these M5's into those ports? Or I can only connect one to the ports and the other one has to connect to it through Wifi, which may occupy some bandwidth itself?
What was your DL speed before setting these up? Thanks!
My ISP just sent me two of these TP-Link Deco M5, it's so easy to setup and very convenient. Very neat and now my whole apartment is now covered and no dead zones.
How many devices can connect to it
Would this work with Quest 2 Wireless PCVR
Hi. Can I hardwire a docking station into these? My job requires hard wire connection.
thank you for the info I got a question tho. if used as access point can you still use the anti virus feature?
Unfortunate you didn't show any internal speeds. I'd hope to think the system can do better than 185Mbps and was limited by your internet connection and the process you used to perform your speed tests.
I have a 2 story home and decided to give this one a try. Easy set up, expandable and user friendly. More importantly no dead zones/buffering now when I stream. At this price point it’s a SOLID set up. Highly recommend Deco.
Was your internet speed test from the tp-link unit? What speeds do you get to connected wireless devices?
Mesh force is a Chinese copycat company. Avoid them. They use 100% product testing reimbursement as bait to buy 5 stars review on Amazon. Buy Local buy American please, Contribute to the nation you lived in.
Would it be safe to have these in bedrooms?, I have new 250mb broadband but the kids bedrooms in the front of the house are now dead spots but I dont want to have these beside the kids sleeping if it's not safe, thanks 😊
can i connect these mesh with ethernet cable ? or it's only by wifi , i have 3 cable ethernet , and no wifi in my routeur , i want just have a '' mesh wifi '' and roaming function , can i connect the 3 module mesh with cable eathernet ? or it's just 1 node + 2 wifi module ? i don't want 3 module are connected to router by wifi , but by cable , is possible ?
Can I use POE splitter and injector for deco m5?
My 1 deco only connects to 5gz, and have very slow, and always disconnects to my main deco. How can i fix this?
How's gaming on this? Any packet loss or spikes?
Hi can you use this deco as hub too?
12 Months update please. Thanks
I just got mine today, I just want to confirm something with it. Maybe you can help? Is it a must to have 1 connected wired and the rest wireless? I actually have a different modem router combo and it only has 1 Lan port working and I use it for work. Can I just use the Mesh as a wifi extender of some sort instead?
Can you turn off the bluetooth?
Can you reset your deco even its plug in in the wifi and the light is green just asking if its okay because im scared to do it
Does the first deco always have to be connected to the router with the Ethernet cable or can you move the first deco about ? Brilliant review btw!
Great video and gave me all the steps to add another node to my setup. Thank you SO MUCH!
Can I have it in a different room than the modem if I only have 1?
Hello great video. Is there a difference in the IP addresses between DecoM5Test and DecoM5Test_Guest? Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks! Great video!
Can you setup VLAN on all the deco's? or just the M5? I can't see the option under "advanced" for the model Deco i'm looking at which isn't the M5
First, thanks for the great review.
Second, I already have a 3 piece Deco set up and want to get a 4 additional extender for our basment. What do I buy? Lol, thanks in advance.
this vid helps me, thank you!
Did the same steps for sike 5 times, still shows "no internet connection" any idea why?
Hello.I'm glad that there is someone here with the lights on. I bought an M5 and followed instructions. M5 connected to a port on my TP Link router. Your instructions are perfect and its running.
Download speed test to my Android phone on wifi was 150mbps.....to my wife's Gateway laptop in another room with an M5 pod nearby was 100mbps download. We have Xfinity 1Gb internet. Wired computers get 900mbps download and 40mbps Upload. I'll take a W A G that if the M5 was connected to a MODEM that the real hi speed happens. I need a router for the setups of static addresses and ports I need opened to connect to servers over the interwebs...and ports opened for Xbox happiness...thanks
Can you just connect the two M5s with an ethernet cable to each other as well?
Great video!...how far can I install the main and the slave deco each other. I have a large yard and thinking to install one near the end(indoor of course).
So would i have to connect it to my modem with the ethernet or can i just connect it to my router. Also i am on spectrum would this still work?
Definitely the best review of this unit I've seen. I can see you're a serious PC user too from the great custom build in the background. Top notch mate! Thank you.
Worked great. I can even fly my drone outside.
Do these work of you have a static IP?
An can you separate traffic between 2 and 5 GHz?
These do work with a wired backhaul. I've seen other videos demonstrating this working. Maybe it wasn't working properly in the firmware at the time you reviewed it? It'd be great if you had a screen capture for your phone screen so we can clearly see what you're showing. Anyhow, a nice summary of these units. I'm still torn between the Deco M5, Eero and Asus Lyra Trio.
Buddy, you have a good video but you talk way too fast and do not pronounce words. The entire point is communication. Take a breath, slow down a nano-second between words and it would be more helpful. Great practical information, but I miss a lot of what you are trying to say.
Can they be concealed in a cupboard
I really don't understand why people "like the fact that is has USB-C power" on some devices. Would you like your fridge or doorbell to be USC-C powered? That usbC port+cable is very-very-very f**kin' FRAGILE!! and it helps with NOTHING if it only powers the device. I hope Apple doesn't change the iphone lightning port to usb-Crap, and remove the usbC charging from laptops, and many other examples. Sorry for my rage on an unrelated video, but I see this very often and it makes me crazy, why everybody wants this typeC all over their devices. I am using an expensive dongle on my Macbook Pro M1 (work laptop, didn't choose it, would never buy it), to connect my external monitor and other mice, keyboards (which of course they have USB-A dongles in 2021), and every time I f***ing move the laptop, the usb-Crap port is not perfect and my monitor disconnects.
can i use my 2nd deco wirelessly
Do you have to turn your router's wifi off so it won't interfere with the deco's signal?
I love my TP Link S4, ac1900 is Internet 5. I’m too scared of going internet 6. M5 and S4 awesome
I just replaced my Archer C7 and AC1750 range extender with a set of 3 of these M5 and so far they work much better. Getting about 60% faster speeds than before in my garage office. Now we wait and see if the "freezing" still happens. The C7 would often go to the "connected but no internet" state and I would have to reboot or disable/enable the client or reboot the router. This used to happen several times a week and is the main reason I just replaced it.
Great review, you got a sub.
How close to I keep the "pucks" to each other? I want to expand it all the way to my garage.
Is this system worth it overall?
can we use this mesh for two modems for 2 different ISPs?
DO NOT BUY. You wil not be able to configure DNS.
not and excellent explanation for a dutch man like me because you talk too fast and can't make any understanding out of it. Maybe slow down next time and film it better.
Do you have to discard the ISP's modem and start fresh with these or can this just be hooked up to their modem? I thought these systems just fed off of the modem you have?
Late to the party here, but which port on your modem do you use? Most have one WAN port, and multiple LAN ports. Does the Deco want to be in the WAN or LAN port?
Google nest is best. 4 piece.
Do not waste money on this. I lost it in 7 days. Returned .
Just purchased this on Amazon and it looks like a nice setup and you can't beat the price but I didn't know there were PRIVACY concerns. From my understanding, the Deco mesh network is always connected to the company's cloud which collects all of your personal information and browsing data - they also have the right to sell this to other parties. This is just creepy. I am returning it unless someone can clarify this. If anyone knows of a mesh setup that doesn't require connectivity to the company or at least opt out - let me know. Keeping home network private is a MUST for me. Sad - I was hoping this would have worked out.
