I pieced together a small kit from loose Mendini drums I picked up for $10. It was for my 10 yr old grandson. The tom, kick and floor tom all sounded amazingly good with decent heads.
Is this a good sound for a kid drum set?

I don’t see a realistic reason for having any kind of drum kit even if it’s smaller and expensive if you only get a kick drum, a snare, and one Tom. You need at least to add a hihat and a second Tom and maybe one other symbol feel lucky.

Just ordered the 5pc set. My 4 and 6 year old want to learn, so I'm thinking about ordering another crash and a cheaper 18" ride. If they're gonna play in THIS house, they will learn with AC/DC which requires the ride lol.

The foot pedal adjustment is the screw nut. It allows the drummer to set their own tension/pressure. Awesome video. I'm extremely handy, but I know nothing about the drums. so this was perfect.

My son's drum foot pedal isn't working. It stays against the drum and does not fall back when the pedal is lifted
