It seems that you completely missed the point of the work. I have to say that your review is sterile, at best. What you missed is that this book is beautiful, and it isn't about techniques; it's about truth.

I love this book and the messages behind it - I think it's so popular because it emphasizes our shared humanity and shared experiences. It breaks down the myth of perfection and validates people being who they are, we all seek acceptance and this little story shows this beautifully through comforting and powerful dialogues. The illustrations are also absolutely fantastic and could be looked at daily! Ordered this book as soon as I saw a few images that resonated with me....

I've seen this book everywhere omg
I gave this book as a Christmas gift. The recipient just loved it. I love the illustrations and for book lovers, it's just a really beautiful book-the illustrations, the font, the layout. I watched an interview with the author and think the sentiments are genuine. What's wrong with a little uplift beautifully presented when so much else in the various forms of media are cynical and vulgar. I don't see it as Paulo Coelho-type stuff, which is definitely not my thing. I think it makes lovely bedtime reading for children to instill a love of art and books and a kind and hopeful outlook on life.
I think the simplicity of the book makes it so appealing. It can touch anyones heart I feel
I think people are looking for hope and this book has comforting words that inspire and soothe. ❤️
The book is great because it simplifies big concepts. if you were able to bring the ideas and act in way the book talks is very mindful.

I don't think you are in their mass market audience, so of course you wouldn't get its popularity. I would go further than "nice" when talking about the art.

There are millions of books about relationships, sex, and love affairs. But It turns out people were starving for this book about the 'agape' kind of love: Kindness, sensitivity, and respect. The beautiful artistic style is just a bonus.
