I'm 65, I have never heard of this disaster before!
I lived in the area and rode those chat piles as a kid but I had limited exposure . I could see even back years ago the difference in the kids from Picher who were exposed 24/7 . Its a sad thing . But we gotta make money and we gotta pay survival wages to miners who make the owners rich for generations while the workers and their children suffer health damage cause we have to make money right? We cant consider the rape of the land and the effects on the next generations cause we have to be profitable and make those 2 or 3 guys that own the mine more money than they can spend in their lifetime ? I will Quote a Warren Zevon song which is not directly applicable but certainly relevant . " Yeah our shits fucked up " ... The greatest and most wealthy country in the world that points its hypocritical finger at the rest of the world for human rights abuses sells out their own for money and greed . I got no use for USA and I live here .
