QUESTION IS WHY WOULD U WANT TO DO THAT WHEN U CAN SIMPLY PUSH THE CLIP INTO THE GROOVE WITH SOME SCREWDRIVER ONCE ITS COMPRESSED IN THAT BARREL.THAT WILL SAVE U A NICE PAIR OF CIRCLIP PLIERS.

Good choice in tools. Knipex brand is high quality. I have their combination pliers. Great tool. The modification you have made is very good. Nice to have them hold the ring better. Since the only time I need snap ring pliers is to take my ratchet apart for greasing, I never bought a set of snap ring pliers. I just use a small round jaw pair of pliers. Works great for small internal snap rings. I do think that your idea of filing them might make them work even better. Thanks for the tip.

Stopped at 2:57: Really, you don't like having one tool in you box that replaces a set of them just be replacing the tips? Is it really that difficult to get out the hex wrench to change the tips? You seem to be pretty lazy. I quickly previewed the last 8 mins and saw that you never actually used it. One of the most useless reviews I ever saw.

As with most of your videos, you are completely clueless and have no skill with using tools. These are terrific for the occasional retaining ring use. I just used these the other day on a hydraulic jack for 8 retaining rings of two sizes and it was flawless.Its not intended to replace a set if you use them all day long.

I have the same set of channellocks and i don't know that it has ever removed a snap ring. I don't really need them often. Just tinkering with motors but i will buy the knipex set if i ever start needing them
I'd agree that if I needed to use them everyday I would not buy these. I only need them a few times a year so these are great for me given the replaceable tips and dual functionality. For an interchangeable tip it's not a bad design. I've used worse. I accept it's a little bulky and sort of goofy changing between internal/external modes - but for $20 (Channellock on Amazon) it's a decent tool.
I actually love this style as Ive used the bluepoint rebranded version. Channellock being the oem, and yes it does say USA on the metal

I have the Lang version and Channellock rebrand. The Lang had an issue of locking up & not reversing smoothly. I sent in and they sent me new one. Both pairs now work great. I like them. CripeDistributing.com sells them for $12. Agreed they are not fast. They save space. I like the idea of replacing a tip over a tool and have 2 plus three sets of tips since the warrantied one didnt require the tips to be sent in so Im pretty content without the blow molded case full of fixed pliers.As Im sure you know, Lang makes the Snap-On & Craftsman master rethreading kit as well, plus that brake tool everybody loves (279 caliper press).

It's funny that in the same frame you say "that's not convincing me, I want it on the metal", I can see USA stamped in the metal. Then trying to dig your finger in the pouch like that's what you would actually do if you were realistically using them, you would obviously dump the pouch in a magnet tray or on the table. It's like you're trying to find the worst case.Like you said, It's made by Lang in the USA and rebranded for craftsman and channellock, the Snap-On symbol is probably there because Bluepoint used to sell these as well.I have a couple of the pair in the video and also the Craftsman branded 3pc set that's no longer offered (still offered by Lang themselves. The tip thing isn't a big deal because you rarely change the tips especially if you have the larger and smaller pliers so you can keep the most often used tips in each. These are some of the most rigid snap ring pliers around and they don't twist out like the fully stamped steel types. As far as them not being for professional use, I'm an industrial mechanic and use them all the time with no intentions of replacing them. Auto mechanics tend to like to buy giant toolboxes with all sorts of tools on credit so in that case sure, it might be quicker to devote an entire drawer to snap ring pliers that you'll probably only use 2 or 3 of on a car whereas these cover every size internal/external and tip angle within a 3 piece set.

I don't know why yours didn't say this, but I bought mine as of august 2017. If you look at the handle on the side where the lever is on the metal and on the right side it says "USA pat." These pliars are made in the USA, but I know what you mean by companies little tricks. My favorite is Stanley's tools. It says made In USA! And right under in small letters, "with global components" aka made in China, put together in the USA. I am convinced that these pliars are re-branded channel lock snap ring pliars. Trusting the craftsman name, I purchased these instead of the channel locks, but I hope that wasn't a mistake! I am a bit ashamed that craftsman moved half their manufacturing to china and quality definitely suffered because of it. It seems that all wrenches and ratchets of any kind made by them are manufactured in China now and only their screwdrivers, pins/punches and few other items are still produced in the USA.

I've seen the Channellock and Gearwrench versions of this tool. Lang is probably the most underrated company still making tools in the US. They have all sorts of awesome odds and ends specialty tools.
Those are just re-branded channel lock brand. They are useful as portable snap ring pliers but they should have figured out a way to put the tips in the handle instead of putting them in a separate pouch. THey should have also made the tips double sided.

I have an older set (2001-2002) of the same 'style' of craftsman snap ring pliers. They are different in that they don't have that chinsy looking switch/lever. I'd rather have a set of snap ring pliers that you don't have to mess with all the time. They are handy for a weekend warrior but you'd get flat kicked in the wallet if you are a flat rate mechanic. I've also lost a set screw which I replaced real cheap at ace hardware. I do still occasionally use them as well as a really cheap set from hft. Good vid and I'd bet they were made in china and 'assembled' or 'handled' in the USA. I do like some of lang tools like their ratcheting dual/quad brake caliper depressor.
