So I can’t decide between Canon EF 70-300 IS USM II and Tamron 70-300 Di VC USD. What did you recommend? I have a Canon m50 + viltrox speedbooster adaptor. Also, the Canon lens is around 480 euro and Tamron around 330 euro.
Should I adapt this to the a7r ii?

I bought the lens from Tamron but I'm a little bit sad because Tamron is notorius about AF Autofocus motor fail, they give you 5 year warranty but once it failed it gonna fail again ! I stick to the Canon brand had no issue at all !

i got this lens couple years ago to shoot sports event, the AF is fast and silent. im currently using Canon 70-200mm F4L NON-IS lens but this one is still my favorite

Thanks for the excellent video. I am coming from a different perspective. I'm using these lenses adapted to a Sony A7rii body with an MC-11 adapter. I find the old Canon L lens so much easier to focus and better image quality. I had purchased the Tamron and immediately returned it because the focus was spotty being very slow to focus. I'm sure this isn't true on a Canon body so I know my view is a bit different. I just wanted to add my opinion for anyone who might be wanting to adapt these lenses to a non-native body. Just bought the canon lens
Tamron is shit. Got it (3x of them, one after another one was returned). The autofocus is slower than anything existing in nature. You won't be able to snap shit with it in nature. If you see a bird that is almost to take off, you won't be able to focus on it. What a waste of money and time. Yet, every single reviewer is failing to report this.
I have one, and it is a nice lens, but I find it very soft to the point of blurriness with motorsport photography. I am not sure what Tamron's QC is like - I wonder if I have a bad copy.
Very different and useful review Jamie. Not many reviews show the effect of IS. Tamron looks good can tell me how it would perform in lower light conditions like indoor sport and music gigs please ?
