I have a 5D Mark IV moving back to Canon after being Panasonic and Sony... So I need to rebuild some few lenses... I already have a 25-105 F4L IS USM - A 70-200 f2.8 G2 from Tamron a fantastic lens, and a converter x2 from Sigma that works quite good on the TAMRON. I project to buy or a 100-400 from Sigma or Tamron or Canon.... It would be nice if you make a comparison review about these popular lenses..... Thank You. Daniel

These reviews are just extremely informative! I have a Canon 28-105 f3.5-4.5 USM II for my APS-C which is a good all-around travel focal range in my opinion. However I rarely go over 70, and for that I have a tele also... Which means that a 28-70 or something like a 24-70 or 28-75 is a good one-lens setup for me. That f2.8 is really tempting, and I really miss a so detailed review from you about said Canon 28-105, for comparison purposes. I took some of my best shots with that so far (unfortunately I don't have much more to compare it to (yet)).
I’ve had this lens for over 10 years and it’s still my favorite all around and on a crop. Shot a few weddings with this and was very happy with results.

I didn't want to buy anything that wasn't top notch for my camera, but I guess this lens will have to do for the money I have right now. It's actually much better than what I anticipated for the price.

I used this lens for 1300d, 550d and 600d. I always struggled with focusing at f 2.8. it also isnt that sharp. Made me improve my manual focusing so mucb tho.
Can you use it on mirrorless camera
Love this lens, I use it almost everyday with my Sony a900 or a850, it's fast and focuses fast because the Sony uses a screwdriver mechanism and I find it very sharp even wide open. I want to mention that when this lens is used with a Sony Alpha body you get IBIS as a bonus making it an even better lens. Chris, I watch all your videos because of the knowledge gained from your good work makes buying decisions easier, thanks!
Got mine for 90€! Pretty happy with it, also the autofocus is quite usable on my Sony A7III with the Sigma MC11 Adapter
Hi Christopher, I received my copy of this lens 2 days ago, i slapped it onto my new Sony A7R3 amd started shooting in hand-held mode. For some reason my images are not coming out to be sharp. The lens was little hard to mount. It had to apply a lot of force to hear that click sound of the lens snapping into position. I wonder if that's a bad sign? Then I tried shooting in AF-S and AF-C mode. The S mode seems to give badly focused images even though thr camera locked focus correctly. If I zoom in all the way on a person's face, it isn't as sharp as I was expecting. Some shots very easily blurred. Shutter speed was 1/25 to 1/80, tried to see if it is the effect of hand shake, but even after keeping syper steady amd high shutterspeed, i am not getting the pixel level sharpness when I zoom in right on the eye of the person. Eyebrowes, eye lashes and cornia aren't as sharp as they should be as par numerous examples on YouTube of this lens review. What should I do to verify for sure if my copy of the lens is bad or my copy of the camera body is bad. I checked all AF settings = Area = Flexible spot M, AF-S/AF-C, steady shot ON, shooting RAW, can't figure out what's wrong here.

I found this lens in a local pawn shop for quite a descent price but noticed it's not extending outwards when zooming in/out. Is there a model that does it internally ? Also, it's not a stabilised lens, how is that affecting it's use ?

The only issue I have is the lens hood tends to slip off fairly easy.
