With that teleconverter installed, there's no way the aperture was f6.3!!! The 2 stops of light loss would have brought your f6.3 down to f13!!!
Does autofocus work? How it is possible? As I saw pictures of this teleconverter, it has no contacts. Or has it contacts?
Merry christmas thanks so much for all the info
Hi there. great video. i have the tamron 150-600 for canon. can you recommend a teleconverter or something similar to extend the focal length? it doesn't have to be infinitely expensive either 😋
The Painted Bunting pictures are awesome.
I want to find out what other teleconveters would fit on the G1 Tameron 150-600mm. I have the same lens (In Nikon F Mount) and i am trying to use it for Astrophotography. 600mm is not enough of a reach. Your video is the only one that demonstrates the G1 150-600mm with a teleconverter. Was wondering if you know another other brands that fit.
I have the nikon 2X teleconverter and it doesn't fit.
Very nice....straight forward.....thanks !
Is that the G1 or G2 Tamron lens?
At 600mm still F2.8🤔
vivita was made by samyang
whats your experience after using 2x teleconvertor ? is it affect much in quality??
1920mm ?.... So you're adding lens plus 2x converter plus crop factor ???
Straight forward....like it....blows away the crybabies who have crabbed about this lens....who blamed it for their mistakes !!!
Does autofocus work with photos? How fast is autofocus?
Terrible image quality.
You mean 1200mm?
E' una porcheria.... perdi un sacco di sto di luce.. la messa a fuoco automatica... con quella manuale si fatica molto... perde molto in nitidezza.Soldi buttati.
Nice review. Ty
Thanks very much for a great Real World review.
Hello friend! I'm Julian , I'm looking for the best lens for my Canon 6dmk2 what I like to do is the birding , but here in Colombia the birds always are so far from me , and I need to catch them far , but I don't know how far can I catch the bird with this lens ? 20 mts ,30,40? Please help me !
Thanks for making a video on this..
Another bad point for TC is the price at least for pro-grade ...
Why do you talk só fast
is there any issue with putting a teleconverter on a prime lens? lets say at 50mm or 35mm???
Am I the only one thinking he shouldn't be that close to the river 'cause there might be a hungry gator behind him? Or am I watching too much movies and TV. =P
Can you use this converter with any other lens or is it just specific for this and won’t work at all. Want to know if it will at least be able to read the lens on the body if you use the adapter on something other than the two lenses
I photographed a 8 foot gater from about 5 feet away.
Thank you 🏆
Brazil’s Bend State Park about one hour southwest of Houston, Texas. I know it well! Crovid-19 shut it down yesterday. Best ‘gator park ever!!
Get 20 teleconverter and put a kit lens on it. No need for telephoto lens
Awesome video viewed a few people's posts that said just crop the picture but like you mentioned It's not so good. I own a sigma 70-200 2.8 and after viewing your review I intend to purchase the Sigma 2x converter. To me, it's a no brainer for a used excellent condition 2x converter on the web at $150. Thanks for the help oh and like others have said I don't think id be that close to the water with my back, lol.
Want more focal length for your lens? Take it off your 5D Mark III and put it on a 7D Mark II for a crop factor of 1.6X instead of using a teleconverter.
Run dammit lol croc.
5:04 I wouldn't turn my back on that lake knowing there are massive carnivore reptiles in there :|
3:42 Nice drone shot. Love it :)
I using 800 mm lens + crop sensors cam but not enough
I have to use extenders to reach
i hope he realizes that an alligator is a surprise hunter.. it will come flying out of the water from under water. i first thought he brought the younge child for gator bait.... ONLY KIDDING!!
What if you put a Teleconverter behind a Macro Lens?
Such a great review! This is exactly what I needed! Thanks! 😀👍💯
Useful video. Thanks. [similar to my experience comparing fuji 1.4x and 2.0x TC...in the end I found I could crop from the 1.4 to get a similar sized image as the 2.0 TC gave, but with superior IQ]
Hello, do the teleconverters make the lens only useable in center focusing points?
Thanks, your video helped me make up my mind on which teleconverter to get. I can live with the softness and I got the 2x converter.
Great test! Thank you very much. Cheers from Denmark. 🇩🇰📷
Lovely video, but I have a question, with the Tamron 150-600mm at 6.3 and if I get the 1.4x tele what will be the minimum F stop I will try using the 1.4?
GREAT video! I really appreciate the 1.4 cropped vs 2.0. Sold me.
Excellent video , thank you
How many stops of light are lost with using either TC?
Thank you so very much for that awesome and clear explanation of the difference is between 1.4x and 2x teleconverters. Definitely the explanation cannot be clearer. Thank you so much Mike..!!!
Yup... I too feel this is incomplete. After the 1.4x vs 2.0x you should have shown 1x (no teleconverter) vs 1.4x
I have just bought a Tamron 150-600 mm lens and Tamron 2 x converter but cant get the converter to fit the lens. The lens works fine with my Canon EOS700D DSLR and the converter fits my camera but I cant get the converter to go on the lens.
The question I would have is would the 1.4 teleconverter be better than just cropping the image with no teleconverter to the same size? Often it seems cropping is better than a teleconverter from what I hear. I just purchased the older model 1.4 screw drive Tamron teleconverter for Nikon and will be testing it soon with my Primes, 180 mm 2.8 and 300 mm F4. Thanks for some good information! Best of luck to you in 2020.
If the 1.4x+crop is better than the 2x, is no teleconverter+crop maybe even sharper?
Very helpful video. I have the Sigma 150-600mm and the Sigma 2X teleconverter doesn't offer autofocus.
Congratulations! Was the best video that i already saw about teleconverters (and i saw about 30 videos). I'm brazilian, a friend of my will go to USA tomorrow and will stay there about a month, because her daugther is married with a north american guy, and she already has 2 grandchildren :-)
Here, in Brazil, unfurtanely we don't have teleconverters to buy, so, imagine to rent, we need to see a lot of videos, talk to people about the equipment that we intend to buy, search, search and more search. The EOS SL2 arrived here about November of 2018... I bought my first camera and i am very very happy :-)
With R$ 3220,00 (about $ 830,00 dollars) i bought a Canon Rebel EOS SL2 Premium Kit (SL2, EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens), a original canon bag (fit my camera, both lenses, charger, batery and i used just 60% of its capacity), polarized filter (a very good one) and a tripod (a very very good one).
I'm Environmental Engeneer, here we have no jobs, so, i working on my own busines in my farm, trying to start my Youtube channel, and i love birdwatching, i can say i know the brazilian (specially amazonian) animals, mainly birds and fishs (i love birdwatching, but i'm crazy about fishing). So, i need zoom, as much as I can (with quality, of course). I had lucky about SL2 + lenses + accessories, but this is it, now i need to improve my fotography equipment, and here, in Brazil, an EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM it's the same value as a civic honda, and with the civic honda money here, we can buy a Tesla (here, we, brazilian people, suffer a lot because of the taxes, is unbelivable high).
But your video helped me to make a good choice to improve my zoom :-)
Sorry about grammar mistakes (i'm sure i did a lot of them)
Great your videos, I would like to ask you if for my nikon d7200 + tamron 150 600 g2 it is useful to buy the 1.4x tamron to gain a greater distance or it would lose a lot of image quality or it would be unnecessary. Greetings from Spain
How does the 1.4x sharpness compare to the cropped image with NO teleconverter?
Will this work with a Nikon D3400?
Great explanation!!!!! Thanks a lot!
Well done. Very informative. Saved me soooooo much reading.
Hello Dustin, I have a question and would appreciate your opinion! I own a tamron 100-400 aswell as the canon 100-400 II.... both great and equal to me...but...I am looking for that extra reach.... as I understood (maybe i am wrong) the tamron 1.4 extender would be the best choice for both of them.... or would you advice to forget the extender and go for the tamron 150-600 G2..... I own a 5DIII and 90D... thanks for the great vid!👌
Hi Dusting. Thanks for your review.
I like airplane spotting. Do you think a canon 77D autofocus would work well with the tamron 70-200 1.8 + tamron 2x extender for that kind of photography?
Nikkor 200-500 or tamron 150-600 g2 which is better for wildlife (specially autofocus speed) ??????
Hmm. You did not show in action.
Nice 70’s porn music in the beginning.
Will the canon 1.4x TC work with the Tamron 70-200 G2? How's the performance? Thanks
Very well explained video, love it.
I use an entry level Nikon body D3400 with Tamron 100-400mm to do BIF photos without any problem getting many photos in focus. I recently purchased this TC-X14 and all my 300 shots Black Kites in flight photos were not in focus, from your experience, is the TC-14 not ideal for fast moving subjects?
Curious if you have tried these on an r6 or r5. I have the 150-600 g2 and I have an eos R6 coming on Monday. I was considering a 1.4 because I’m coming from a crop sensor.. sounds like I need to save more chickens and to maybe spring for the 800 f11
What about using 1,4 Tamron teleconverter on Tamron 100 400?
hi dustin whats your thoughts of how these extenders on the 150-600 would they work on a 90d and eos R that can auto focus at f11 while I am asking which do you feel is better sigma sport or the tamron. I have reviewed the sigma c and s find them very good I even reviewed the tamron g1 lens. In my opinion the g1 was a bit soft I am considering the tamron g2 lens I own the canon 100-400 II also like you do. I am wondering if it is sharp at 6.3 I do get the feeling that both sigma lenses feel not tack sharp at f6.3 which seems backed up by other youtubers. It would be interesting to find out. Although I sold the sigma lenses I still have the photos. One concern I have is a lady on youtube bought the tamron g2 lens and had it replaced by tamron due to focus issues that did concern me. One last point the OS on sigma lenses does disappoint me it feels half effective as it is with a canon lenses. here is her video of her tamron lens what are your thoughts is this normal of tamron ? here is her video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QPbIWrR-Gc&t=36s thanks again for taking your time to reply keep up the good work.
focus breathing and maximum magnification of tamron f/2.8 70-200 compared to the 70-200 L 2.8
The canon extender does not fit the Tamron 150-600. So do not buy a canon extender if you own a Tamron.
Hi Dustin, can I ask a question late in the day. I do have a Tamron 150-600mm and Nikon D850. If I want that extra reach for some situations and am happy not to have autofocus, and also realize that I will need to bump up ISO (and happy with that) to compensate for the light loss, I should be able to enjoy the greater reach and get nice sharp images where my subject is pretty static, or have I missed other factors which you and others are thinking of when you don't so much recommend the teleconverters on the 150-600mm? Thank you, and also for all of your informative and balanced reviews I have read .
Thanx for the info. I'm just getting the tamron 70-200 2.8 for indoor sports, weddings etc. and felt the 1.4 will work well for my outdoor animal captures. It'll work well with my canon 80D don't you think?
hey Dustin what about if i use it on my 55-250 STM, should i get the 2x???
Again a really productive and professional review. What I like is you go straight to the point.
May I ask a question.
What's about the minimum difference? The Tamron 70-200 has around 85 cm. Does it mean it will be 170 with the 2X Extender?
Another fantastic review, it is thanks to you that I bought the Tamron 100-400. Now I have heard that the Canon teleconverters won’t be fully compatible with Tamron Lenses, but I was wondering if the Tamron 1.4x Teleconverter is compatible with say the Canon 70-200 F2.8 II. Would you know at all ?. Many thanks
Hi Dustin, I have the Tamron 70-200 G2. I am torn between whether to get the TC (either of the Tamron ones) or whether I would get better results all round by going for the Canon 100-400 ii. Have you got a view on which gets the better results, and whether the extra cost of buying the Canon standalone is really worthwhile? Great videos as always, thanks a lot 👍
Just got the 150-600 G2 and it’s surpassed my expectations so far. Very sharp up to 500 and I’ll monitor the 600 performance as not sure yet if it needs adjusting via the tap-in console or it’s just my poor technique that needs to improve. However, I’m so glad I didn’t opt for the converter as well having watched this video. Thanks for your very useful reviews.
