I have the 55-250mm Canon lens . OBLITERATES this Tamron and even the Vi III too. This lens severely and completely sucks all the way around the globe and I'm so glad I watched your video on this lens before trading my mac for it. Thank you for this.

the lack of ease in manual focusing seems like a drawback
As a photo novice, I am finding your reviews helpful and informative. I just wish that I had read this particular review before purchasing! This lens does seem 'soft' which I find quite frustrating. It seems to perform best in terms of sharpness with an aperture of F8 or F10 - even then not as good as my Fuji bridge camera. Until reading your review, I thought that maybe I had a faulty copy. I am now trying to decide if I should sell it and upgrade - or maybe it's still worth using it for shots where sharpness isn't so crtical. Any advice? Although not directly comparable, a friend lent me his cheap Tamron 70-300mm (macro) to try, which seems sharper at the same focal lengths than the 18-200. So I am wondering if it's the zoom factor of 11x for the 18-200mm that poses a limitation for overall sharpness? (the 70-300mm having a smaller zoom factor of just 4x ). Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I bought the lens after watching lots of YT vids on it for my Canon 600D (yes, I am cheap!) and it is giving me the best pictures I have had from my camera. I got it on offer for £130 which is cheap in the UK, our lenses seem to be quite expensive comparatively to the rest of the world. Thanks for the upload and the pictures at the end - they were the push I needed to get the lens! Real all rounder, even if it is heavy when on the body of the camera.
