I've got the Laowa 9mm f/2.8 lens for my EOS M3, and I'm selling my EF-M 11-22mm lens and I think I'll sell my EF-M 18-150mm lens as well, and get this. Do you think that this, paired with the Laowa 9mm would be a great combination?

Hello Dustin! This review is very helpful! Im planning to get a 2nd hand here in the Philippines. I just want to ask about the firmware update of this lens. Do I have to update this lens, each time Canon update its firmware for M50? Because I read some comments about Tamron here in the Philippines that the update is charged.

I'm on Canon M50 mirrorless and I have a converter but I'm thinking about buying a lens to shoot my son's football matches. Want to make sure it can focus fast and do the servo well and has a decent reach since the action can often be quite far. Thanks.
I have this lens in an EF-S mount for my Canon T3. My results have been pretty good. True there are sharper lenses out there but for $200 in 2017 when I bought it, it does the job to my satisfaction. I have the 18-55mm kits lens and the Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS II. The Tamron results are very close to my eye to the Canon zoom. But I don't pixel peep. So while I won't claim the sharpness is fully equal, I can confidently say most people could be happy with the results. I have no regrets buying the lens. Now I am looking for something around the 400mm range for lunar shots.

And as per your both reviews its clear that image quality is far better in Di iii version. Is it true? And is it worth to buy this because i can still use Di ii version in my m50 with adapter.

the lack of ease in manual focusing seems like a drawback
As a photo novice, I am finding your reviews helpful and informative. I just wish that I had read this particular review before purchasing! This lens does seem 'soft' which I find quite frustrating. It seems to perform best in terms of sharpness with an aperture of F8 or F10 - even then not as good as my Fuji bridge camera. Until reading your review, I thought that maybe I had a faulty copy. I am now trying to decide if I should sell it and upgrade - or maybe it's still worth using it for shots where sharpness isn't so crtical. Any advice? Although not directly comparable, a friend lent me his cheap Tamron 70-300mm (macro) to try, which seems sharper at the same focal lengths than the 18-200. So I am wondering if it's the zoom factor of 11x for the 18-200mm that poses a limitation for overall sharpness? (the 70-300mm having a smaller zoom factor of just 4x ). Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

nice test - same as I experienced - Tamron was a bit faster - new Sony the black one is no faster then the old silver one - but I think the build quality on the old silver is better and has a much smoother zoom ring feeling - Tamron has no lens creep but is smooth but a bit firmer -

The new sony 18-200 should be faster
tamron way faster at the second test. and video s got nice quality too. maybe i should consider selling my pen and buying one o those NEX cameras.
