I do alot of bird photographing using this lens on an aps-c camera. Do you think the resulting pictures would get better on a full frame camera? Since I really need all the zoom I can get
l have one for my APS-C Nikons for wildlife. On a full frame body image quality is better. But you have to crop more when 600 is not enough.

I had this lens for my Canon 7D and can say it worked wonderfully.I can also say that the claim of the teleconverter not working is very true. The photos would always look grainy with it attached.
Plenty of Nat Geo photographers who make crisp sharp photos with the Tamron 150-600 many Canon fanboys who think Canon L is the only good type of lens. The sharpness of the G2 is nearly as sharp as an L lens

So given your statement about the Tamron being soft at 600mm, would you recommend that I not get that for astrophotography or distance wildlife shooting? I guess with my 1.6x crop sensor, the canon 400 f5.6, and a 2x teleconverter (effectively 1280mm at f/11) would be a better option.although more expensive

I have this lens and I use a Nikon D810 camera. My question is what can I expect from this lens at 600MM and a long distance roughly 200'. I had some Kestrels in one of my nesting boxes this year and every morning the come to a field behind my house to hunt. They sit at the very top of a row of pines and watch the field. The photos I am getting are out of focus so badly they are not usable. I am shooting on a tripod aperture or manual mode, ISO 200 to 500 with a cable release. Thank you in advance for and help you can provide.

I follow you all the time from London, England and I consider you the best. However, like so many other reviewers, you mentioned the Tamron was used on APS-C cameras as well as your 5D, but we never get to see the real world results of a lens on crop bodies. I would suggest that there are far more people using APS-C than full frame and I feel we get short-changed when lenses get reviewed. FYI, I bought your e-book when you were offering if for a small donation at full price, but I don't know how to check for updates.

EDIT: 1. I messed up with the shutter speed numbers, longest I’ve ever shot handheld at was one second not two. 2. The lens material is actually aluminum and an unknown plastic material. But note that the barrel is all aluminum. I hope I did not mislead anyone!

I must disagree, this lens is horrible on an EOS R system and focus hunts for days.

Finally, a great photographer taking great shots with this lens. So many reviews out there are taking photos with his lens and making the lens look terrible. Technique is key here and you have a lot of super sharp images. Great job. I think you just sold me. Thanks :) & subbed
Birders in my country mostly use this lens. Like 70% of them do, both canon and nikon shooters. So can agree to some points. This lens is super sharp when you acquire focus. It is slower than many of the competitions (more expensive native lenses) in terms of focusing speed. It gets Fungus almost in every case after a year or more. Weather sealing on this is not great.

This is an alright video, N Media. I liked it, apart from the part where you say you get a 900mm lens when you crop You don't get more reach, when you use crop-mode. The area the camera records is just cropped, like you would in Photoshop (for example). The image isn't magically magnified by this cropping :) So it's the field of view that 900mm would have been, but at a lower resolution, because the image sensor can now only see the remaining centralmost part. I hope this makes sense :)
