How do you compare this to the Samyang 18mm f2.8?
For the size, price, and weight this looks awesome. It would be perfect on the A7c
I recently purchased the lens new and then promptly returned it. On my a7rii, it was constantly adjusting focus in and out which made it extremely frustrating when trying to take a shot. And a whole lot of focus breathing (I mean a lot). I still have an old Canon EF 24mm lens that I use with an adapter that takes great shots (I guess I'll stick to that one).
One day a company (probably samyang) will give us a reasonably priced auto focusing 20mm f1.8 prime lens and they won’t charge extra for the letter “G”.
How does I compare to the Sigma 16mm 1.4 DC DN ?
for video works this lens?
which 20mm lens should i go for sigma, tamron or sony. i love to take wide angle close shots in street, macro, landscape nature, i am also interested in night and astro photography. plz advice

A nice alternative would be the samyang 18mm 2.8 which seems to be quite sharp.
Stop saying Bo-Kay, it's Bo-Ka, it's not an arrangement of flowers.
I think the Samyang 18mm f2.8 would be a better bet optically.

For $350, this is actually a pretty good lens. It all depends on what you need this lens for. For wedding photography yes. I used it at a wedding last weekend and i'm impressed.
Can a lens even have bouquet?
February 12th, 2020 Update: Adobe has released a profile for this (and other Tamron lenses), which radically helps with processing RAW files! The lens still has a lot of distortion, but having effective profile aids helps ease the sting.
I need a wide angle lens for full frame and I am between this one and Samyang 18 f2.8. Samyang is wider and has lower distortion, but Tamron has better image quality, better build quality and focuses closer. It is a hard decision.

Distortion is indeed horrible, but Lr has already updated in order to correct that, so, I'm keeping it :)
From an impartial,l independent reviewers perspective the lens distortion must be judged relative to other price comparable lenses. So with that in mind the distortion is awful and quite frankly unacceptable in a prime. As I stated in the comments section of Dustin’s tamron 24mm review post correction is not a free lunch, and will cost edge pixels, and a significant loss of fidelity. It’s a shame he and other reviewers fail to point this out.

That distortion is nasty but I love the 35mm 2.8 Tamron. I'll probably buy this one as well. You'll throw some pixels away, but the color, contrast and overall performance is really good even with corrections thrown in. 199.00 right bad at all.

I've got a few items on my wish list, but I can't afford them all. How about are Canon lenses worth adapting to my Sony A9? Especially the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 Art lens. Is the autofocus that bad for video? Is it the best cinematic non-extending zoom lens for video? Okay call me crazy, I have no intention of purchasing the Lumix GH6 (whenever they decide to release it) until everything is fixed in GH5. Hold on, one more thing while I have your attention. Can you talk me off the ledge of looking at the super wide Laowa 7.5mm f2 or the Laowa 9mm lenses. Thanks for putting in the time to be knowledgeable about all this stuff.

Although it has been out for a while, I would be interested in seeing you do a test on the Tokina Firin 20mm f/2.0 (Manual Focus) lens. There are a few unboxing videos, but not many real reviews. I have one and I really like it. I bought it primarily for astro but I find I use it for more than that. I would really like to hear your thoughts. (Always nice to get a pro's opinion.)
It would be also cool if you could yeast the lenses adapted to the nikon Z series.
