Why u don't sell old lens here on YouTube or on site , users might able to try new lenes
Один из моих любимых объективов!
I love that you're using an M3. I'm 1 month into my journey to being a videographer and I don't see many Youtubers using an M3. Thank you.
We I use this in sony a6000 with an adaptor?
Buying this to adapt it to my Canon m50, but it would be sweet if it works on my olympus. That 2x crop factor would give me 800mm of reach!
support for canon 200D or not ???
plase use live shooting example ...not the poster
Does this lens work with Canon 2000d?
I owned this lens. I won it in a photography contest. I was overjoyed to get a 700 dollar lens for free. I used it perhaps 10 times in the first 3 months, it had satisfactory performance. After 3 months, the lens became stiff in the mid range of extension 150-250 mm. I just lived with it, since i got it for free. Over the next 18 months, it became more and more stiff, and I continued to live with this condition. About 3 months ago, it froze completely and became unusable. I had been told that tamron has a 6 year warranty, so i checked into it. They OK'd the return, so i boxed it up nicely, then sent it via FedEx, with insurance for 1000 dollars. A few days later, i received an email from Tamron, saying that repairs would be 400 dollars. I want to point out that this lens had absolutely no physical damage: no dents, no scratches, no broken glass, in other words, on the exterior, it appeared as brand new. I have photos to prove it. Tamron tried to tell me that the lens was physically damaged, so they would not honor the warranty, as it was my fault. They had no response when I asked, why , if I damaged it, is there absolutely no sign of ANY damage to the exterior?? No answer was forthcoming. They told me they have the finest warranty in the photography professional business, 6 years. I told them that their very fine warranty is worthless if they don't honor it. So, to make a long story short: TAMRON DOES NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY, at least in my case. I have told them that I will report this story to everyone in my photography community.
Is this lens available for e mount
Tamron has patented recent an APS-C lens with similar focal range designed for mirrorless cameras. I hope it will released soon. Tamron is very specialized with super zoom lenses.
Your reviews are always very good and detailed 👍👍. However, after using this lens for nearly 2 years now, I faced some issues which take away the fun in shooting. First, auto focus is not very good especially if you are zoomed in and need to jump between subjects, like birds or if you are tracking a moving subject. The auto focus gets lost sometimes and keeps hunting. Second, the zoom ring behaves weird, sometimes too tight and sometimes not, causing you to over or under zoom. At such high focal lengths, time is very precious to compose the shot and click. I have lost many good shots due to above two problems. Finally the moving focus ring, which I did not think would be a problem, gets under my fingers and reminds me that I need to take care of that. These niggles snatch the fun in taking the pictures. I use a Canon 80D body. Guess a all in one lens is too much to ask for. I am planning therefore for the Canon 70-300 L lens. Yes I have to carry two lenses, but still the niggles will not be there. Happy shooting 😊😊😊😊
Is the auto-focus loud enough to be picked up by an external shotgun mic while shooting video?
Impressive video on tamron 18-400. Will you please tell me which are appropriate tele converters for this lens.
Request to review Tamron 18-400 with Canon EOS M6 Mark 2
can i fit a extender to this lens fitted on a canon 80D
Is worth buying for good quality wildlife image. (18 - 400)
Excellent and concise review thank you
Question if you're reading: I got the 18-400 Tamron. When I snap a photo, the picture area through the viewfinder jumps a little bit. Is this normal?
In all Tamron 18-400 reviews, yours is the best. Actually all your videos are best. Background music is good, voice is good and showing more samples while talking. Others has long videos of themselves than showing samples while explaining.
I do want to note that this lens is also gasketed for moisture resistance throughout the barrel with 5 other O-rings (which do contribute to your damping issues, it's true), plus the back end. The mount itself is metal and well seated and the front element is fluorine coated so liquids don't stick. Because of these things, I think it would be safe to say that the weather sealing on this lens exceeds that of most other hobbyist level lenses; with the exception of the new 10-24 VC HLD, a lens that shares the same architectural aesthetic.
We're really going for a better construct, even in entry level lenses, when it comes to our new design philosophy.
One other thing to add: we have had excellent success tracking burrowing owls in launch and flight when using 200mm-400mm range. They're pretty fast :) and it's about the only action we've been able to get near since I received my samples but the lens exceeded my expectations in doing so. Of course we cheated by using a Nikon D500, which is an AF powerhouse but it was still a pleasant surprise.
Thanks for the review, Master Abbott. Always good to hear your voice raised above the madding crowd, sir. Excellent as always.
Thank you for great reviews that are easy to follow and not irritating 😊 I have the Canon EOS 6D , I was wondering if this lens is compatible, some say yes others no! I’m confused 🤷♀️
Please review Tokina 100mm f 2.8 macro
On my 800D at 400mm ISO 100 f/8 1/125 my "Moon Shots", even handheld, are excellent.
Totally agree on the sticky point

hi dustin i have a canon 80D with a 18-400 tamron lens, can you tell me if i would be able to fit a canon 1x4 converter to this set up thanks bill
I owned this lens. I won it in a photography contest. I was overjoyed to get a 700 dollar lens for free. I used it perhaps 10 times in the first 3 months, it had satisfactory performance only. For 700 dollars, you are not going to get a stellar ultra zoom lens. They had no response when I asked, why, if I damaged it, did this condition progress in a gradual fashion over the period of one year?? Clearly, the lens had an internal manufacturing defect, which progressed over time. So, to make a long story short: TAMRON DID NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY, at least in my case. I have told them that I will report this story to everyone in my photography community.
The new Canon 90D has 32.5 Megapixel resolution! Can this Lens support the high resolution?
Great review. Thank you!
I have the Nikon 28-300 and it tends to pump a lot of dust on my sensor
I'm looking at this in June, 2020. Maybe, they improved the lens a bit.
I would no longer recommend this lens, up to a week ago this was my favorite lens, but a week ago the lens barrel began getting much stiffer, and at 3/4 zoom or beyond it stopped focusing. Now, a week later and you have to force the lens to even half way zoom and it will now only focus up to half way zoom, the lens is basically dying as I try to use it and this is a brand new lens. I had been using it daily to do photography in Acadia National Park.
Max zoom factor is about 3x or so to ensure optical quality in a good lens. Nikon 24-70, 70-200, 17-55 are good examples. 22x zoomfactor in the Tamron is just crazy. And when are you going to use anything above 200mm? Think about it. People tend to want this long focal lenghts in a lens but 99% of the time they shoot somewhere between 18 and 50mm.
Good video, Dustin. Just some input from a person who has had one for over a year now. I love most things about this lens, but the auto focus! I find this lens almost worthless for wildlife photography unless my subject is perfectly still. It will NOT track, going totally out of focus. I've talked to a couple friends who have the same problem with theirs. When trying to shoot a flying bird, for example, I rarely get one in focus. This is completely frustrating, leaving me with a ton of missed opportunities. Seems I'm not the only one, so at least I know it's not me! LOL
When i need something small, minimal but reliable, i still grab my D90 + Tamron 18-270mm. This setup just won't stop working..
People complaining about this model doing everything but nothing particularly well is in a way true, but not: it does the everything part pretty good!
I appreciate your in depth reviews with examples, It helps me make wiser choices in camera products. I'm looking for a quality all in one zoom lens, with a fairly long aspect ratio for mostly video recording, compatible with the Canon EOS C200 EF mount. I don't want to brake the bank, with a budget of no more than $2000.
On another note, as a long time video editor, I notice a split second of black screen right at 9:18 on the timeline. However, I didn't notice any jump cuts or change in the positioning of your hands, arms, head and body; no change in the background either. Was there a black video on the upper layer of the original footage that you forgot to remove during post production edit?
Hello, thanks for your reviews! I like how you don't evade the technical stuff and stick to the point :) I have a question to what you said in the beginning:
I get it, if a lens is design for FF body the reference point is obviously 35mm film. Put that lens on a APS-C body and "functional" focal length (what you can see on the image) is different. Around 1,5x for Nikon and 1,6x for Canon bodies, right? BUT when a lens is specifically designed for APS-C cameras, isn't then 18mm (or whatever) just 18mm? When you still what to compare it to, or put it on a FF body then the "functional" focal length DEcreases, to the point where you "see" inside the lens (almost like a negative focal length) and thats what we call vignetting, right? One can achieve this also e.g. with extension tubes. How am i wrong here? Help me out..
Can i attach it with my cannon eos 3000d.
it doesn't look really good at 400mm
Is it good for portrait ?
hi. will this compatible with fujifilms xa7?
Great review and pics. I just ordered my Nikon D5600 with a Tamron 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 DI-II VC HLD, and can’t wait for them arrive!
I have a Nikon D5100 and was looking at this lens. Is it compatible with my camera body? Thank you.
Are this sample images are processed..?
Does this lens work with canon T7i or not?
Will it fit Nikon D5500?
After purchasing this lens from you UPS politely lost it for me. Amazon was great at the refund end and I am trying one more time! With luck, I'll actually get it this time.
Hi @Digital Goja..
is this compatible with Nikon D5600? If we take a full zoom and take a picture will it be of more clarity, since it's 22x zoom.... Please help
I’m thinking of buying this lens for my Nikon camera. It has great reviews. Since it’s over a year old, is there any newer lens you would recommend with about the same price/features?
I guess all is relative. I can shoot wide to super telephoto with ever having to expose the sensor to dust. I put this on a lumix G7 with an adapter and now get 36-800mm reach. Why I love Nikon lenses, Sigma and Canon lenses - this is a fantastic lens. Very good quality of construction.
Great review. I just ordered mine Monday l can’t wait to put it ion my Canon 77D. The all in one glass.
Same as Derek, I too has a d7200 and am planning on getting one as well.
Is it worth to buy 18-400mm all in one lens for Nikon d5300
How is it in low light? I shoot indoors for ice hockey and cant always get close.
its not nearly as sharp as the canon 100-400mm, not expecting it to be, but that range is a great option for shooting video on a dslr, the focusing is snappy and quiet, I had my hands on at my local camera shop, I really want the canon 100-400mm shooting ducks during duck season, but at this price point being only an ametuer I would like to get it so I can at least practice at that focal length on wildlife, because longer shooting takes practice not just equioment, and even if I had the best most expensive lens I'd still need tons of practice, also this will replace my other kit lenses for general shooting and video, I'll still keep my sigma 10-20mm for landscapes but this is a great intermediate lens to get started with even if image quality is a bit soft, IMO.. for general shooting thats just going on the web and video for my business this is going to be great
Is it compatible with Canon 800D?
Thanks for the review !. Is this lens compatible with Nikon D3400?.
Does it work well on sony aps-c like a6000, a6300?
Thanks for sharing the details. Treated myself to one of these and liking it very much on Nikon D7200. What a range. And so compact.
