"You are missing my point, Brain; you are missing my point. I think that there is enough money. But people are not focusing on the right problem in high-entropy alloys, which is actually to scale up and to look at an application because once you look at an application, you have to satisfy more than just one property and a vast majority of high-entropy alloy papers focus on just one or two properties whereas you need a combination of properties to actually produce a component, and that actually is very challenging for research. So, it’s not something taking away from basic research, but if we focus on a bank of properties as needed for a particular component, then you do remarkably interesting research." These sentences contain sufficient power to sway my way of thinking in multicomponent alloys.
Very very good lecture. But, if all materials are called alloys...Is H2O or CO2 alloys? I know what Prof. Cantor try to express, but I may not agree with this point.

Thank you sooo much for putting this video in YouTube. It was really helpful for me. I am an undergraduate student from India and working on High Entropy alloys.
I manage a materials R&D group at a reasonably sized material company and have felt HEA's offer a rare opportunity to produce something truly new in our markets. However when trying to obtain funding for this effort I run into the top management looking at each other and asking, "have any of our customers been asking about HEA's?" and they say no, so heads shake and nothing happens. I think it's the wrong question they are asking, but I think you can see the quandary. Unfortunately it seems to me that what is needed to truly move a materials application forward in a focused manner is having an urgent issue which is intractable using currently available materials.

An interesting presentation indeed. However, the 'Scaling Up' is an important factor to be considered during the development of this class of materials.
Hello Sir, I am studying in Kakeshita Lab in Osaka, and will soon go to Kainuma Lab in Tohoku for my PHD program. I think HEA is just like SMA materials in many ways. It is of great interest to undercover the mechanics behind HEA, but lacks of urgency to actually apply HEA in real life. Simply because its too expensive, it is really hard to see any major application in our lifetime.
