Not using grade 60 rebar for the steel?
Sir can I have the copy of the Design sheet?
Is an 8x8x16 block good enough for a storm shelter above ground
Please make video on sloping ground or hilly areas ?
Thank you for sharing. Do you have notes on unreinforced masonry design?
I followed your link to download the design summary sheets and I provided my email but I never received them. Would you mind sending them to me directly. Thanks!
Why do we assume j is 0.9?
“They usually fill these up with grout.” They ALWAYS fill cells containing reinforcement steel. Without grout, the tensile forces will not transfer to the steel.
I say this because I once talked with an inspector in Georgia. went out to a homeowner complaint, his brick wall was noisy in heavy wind. He contacted the builder, who said, “That’s just the steel banging around when the wall moves.”
Inspector: “Shouldn’t do that. The grout prevents it.”
Builder: “Grout?”

When you have vertical bars, you’ll have horizontal bars. and you often end up with a fully grouted wall, design controlled by seismic.
can you please do another video with wood
Thank you, buddy. Greetings from a College in Mexico!
Hello Mat thanks for the video. Just want to confirm, isn't allowable stress in tension for grade 60 bar 24ksi and not 32ksi?
WOW
Can you do a tutorial on designing ICF walls?
That book is sold out!
Hey mattGreat stuff. Please can you make a video for the greatest Structural analysis textbooks and help us with a link to download PDFs
Hey Mat, thanks for sharing. In practical world, are we allowed to use full capacity of fm value without special inspection? Correct me if I am wrong, there is a masonry/building code stating that if special inspection required then we are allowed to use the full capacity of fm value. If special inspection is not required then we are only allowed to use 50% of the capacity of fm value in our design.
This is well explain sheet
So basically just part of my Statics and the Materials classes
I would like to buy a printed book for this one but all of them have been sold out. Could you help me how can I purchase a printed book? thank you
Thank for sharing, your video is very useful
Hello Brendan! Pls i want to ask, can a mechanical engineer dabble into steel structure design? Thanks
Hi Berndan, if any of your fans are really deeply rooted in FEA, I really suggest book from Klaus-Jurgen Bathe: The Mechanis of Solids and Structures
Hi Sir,
I really love your videos and can you plz send me the link to the structural engineer magazine?
I have found one and I don't know whether it is the same as you mentioned.
Hi Brendan, Are there any books for timber structures that u would recommend for use in Australia?
Hey thanks for the tips, was wondering if you recommended any books for timber design?
can u suggest good books based on indian standard ?
I am forth year of civil engineering , and confussed about my graduation project book
Thanks dear, i didn't the links of the books, how can i get them
Very Informative! Thank you Brendan! Love all the Videos!
Really shed some light on Structural Engineering!
In typical Structural Eng. design office, there will be one or two engineers and a bunch of structural drafters I believe there is more work done by drafters than a design Engineer who makes sure they use correct structural design members and rebars. Some offices engineers can also do drafting!
Please speak more clearly and enunciate in videos.
I've got a book "Australian Guidebook for Structural Engineers" by Lonnie Pack, which I've started reading recently. I believe it's similar to Structural Engineer's Pocket Book by Fiona Cobb.
I wonder if there are the more complex books where civil engineering rules are explained in a mathematical way, more like from the very scratch to the applications. Thank you!
Hello, greetings from Colombia.
Does anyone have the books presented in the video in pdf version? , the economic situation in my country is very difficult, therefore, I cannot afford printed books
Which top college you can suggest to do masters in structural engineering
Hi Mr.Brendan, absolutely amazing work, love all your videos. Cannot thank you enough for such valuable information. May I please know the book mentioned at 07:06 , couldn't quite catch that. Thanks a lot again for such great absolutely amazing content. It has me excited and I cant wait for your upcoming videos. Best wishes.
Being graduate structural engineer in Australia, I find this video really informative. Thank you Brendan!
Hi Brendan, thanks for this awesome video. Extremely useful. I'd also recommend:
Reinforced concrete - The designers handbook - by AS Beletich, ID Hymas
Foundation Analysis and Design by Bowles
Design of Portal frame Buildings - Woolcock
Let's not forget the basics - Mechanics of Materials by Hibbeler
Cheers
Nice vid Brendan. A few additions I would make:
Australian Guidebook for Structural Engineers - Pack
A relatively new book, provides a good outline of the basics of structural engineering design in AU including loading, steel, concrete and geotech design.
FIB Bulletin 58 - Design of Anchorages in Concrete
Really great and in-depth reference for interfacing steel with concrete which I feel is poorly covered elsewhere. The procedures in this book are those used in EN 1992 as well as AS 5216 (and I think ACI 318 is similar).
Design of Portal Frame Buildings - Woolcock et al
Great outline of the calculations involved in designing a building and has a really great section on cranes and monorails which I refer to frequently.

1) Engineering Mechanics by S S Bhavikatti.
2) SOM by Ramamrutham.
3) RCC by Ashok Kumar Jain.
4) For Practical Knowledge "Sandeep Mantri"
5) Steel Structure by S K Duggal
7) Estimation By B N Dutt
Hit like if it helps you
. SK Duggal, that's not standard book for steel design even the worse book for practical steel design, Ajmani is better or go for Gaylord.
3 another books I'm not study
and ramarutham is best book
ss bhavikati is best book
sk dugal is best
