Would a Medium be a good size let's say for for someone 5'10" 182lbs.
Hi nice work, i sell that cycle for $600 us, call me.
Hi James. Great info on this video. I've had my DS2 for 9 months and I love it EXCEPT that I've had 4 spoke breaks in that time. Is there any issue with this bike for heavy riders (~280lbs)? It's very frustrating. I never had any spoke breaks on my Trek 720 (over 27 years of riding).
700 is the same as 29" ?
Thanks for the description. Can wait to get mine on Tuesday. Any suggestion where to buy accessories?
What is not obvious, until you buy it, if you go got a small frame size it has a large kink in the top tube which makes fitting a D lock or water bottle completely and utterly impossible! Shame on Trek!
Just bought it one month ago. I just love it!!! I want to use it every day. The seat is a bit hard for me... but thats the only thing. The whole bike is fantastic.
What kind of bike stand did u use?
Dang
Very informative!
This is a great review and I bought the same bike foe my wife. Unfortunately the bike fell off the bike rack and the handle bars and both wheels were ruined. Do you know where or what site can I buy accessories like wheels ? Also what size wheels are they 28 or 29
Hey James, would you consider making a video about how to service the bottom bracket on these DS2? Mine is creaking and squeaking after only 4 months. I’m sure the noise comes from the bottom bracket. Thanks.
I know this is probably a stupid question: Can you change the tyres to tubeless?

Thanks for the review! I just picked up a brand new 2021 Trek Dual sport 2 XL frame and put only about 5 miles on it. I'm no bike pro (The model and price range kind of speak for this), but there are a few things that I'm concerned about. First, the front suspension fork twist turn "lockout" knob is really cheesy thin cheap plastic and it feels and looks like something you would find on a $50 kids toy bike, but hey, maybe it will last for years, it just feels super fragile. Second, when shifting the front chainrings, it feels more "clanky" and "rackety" than it should be, as if the chainrings are made of very thin gauge or poor quality metal. I'm comparing this to my previous bikes like the Quick5, Diamondback, and older Trek 930. I'm bringing it in for an adjustment today, so maybe that will change this situation for the better - I'll see and update. Third, this is my first experience with hydraulic disc brakes, or any disc system, and find that the dual sport 2 disc brake system is not as "responsive" as the conventional "v brake" system on my Quick 5. Sure, the dual sport 2 disc system will stop the bike nicely, but you have to add more pressure to the grips compared to the "v brake" on previous bikes that I have owned. I want to run this through some rainy weather and see the difference also - looks cloudy out, so maybe I'll find out today. : ) Ha, maybe I should just shelled out another $200 and got the Dual Sport 3 with upgraded shifting components and brake components? Hmmm. On the good side, the frame is built solid and looks great. The stock seat is not bad and the rear Acera derailleur shifts nicely. I removed the front wheel so I could stuff the bike into my Kia Soul, and it was relatively easy to put back on the bike frame later on. The advertised weight is around 29 pounds, and not sure if this weight represents the larger XL frame that I have now, however, this is about average for this class of bike with a front suspension fork. My previous bike was a 2015 Cannondale Quick 5 that I bought used in Brooklyn - lots of dings and nicks but built really great for this category. I'm also a fan of Cannondale, but when you look at the fact most of the frames and components come from Taiwan and China with rare exception, the quality is pretty similar for the most part, although, that also can be contingent on frame design before put into production. Ok so that's my insight - hoping to put several thousand adventurous miles on the Dual Sport 2 over the next few years.
Very helpful videos. Many thanks!
What size is this bike in the video?
Any difference between the 2021 and the upcoming 2022? Where is this model made?
If I weight 290 lbs is it still good to still have this bike. I’m 6’3
Fatigue (repetitive vibration and minor flexing) is the only issue. All cromolly needs to be post heat treated after welding. The haz (heat affected zone) next to the weld weakens the tubing. There is post weld annealing and post weld forging (higher temp, more brittle} Almost all brands have convex tig welds. You want stronger concave welds but the welders are too lazy. Many brands have undercut welds too, the dropouts will have material missing that melted away at the base of the weld. If your forks are mixed steels, either hi tensile, cromo or plain steel they are very prone to fatigue failure
I don’t ride often but I build a completely new bike every year. I sell my old parts for about 20% of what I originally paid and always let people know the history. Great video for up and coming riders 👍
They should start lowering axle to crown height again
Thanks man, I'm 49 and still riding a mid school bike, everything has changed so much in 20 years that these videos are giving me the knowledge to build a new bike the right way.
I have mission battalion fork and doesn't have welding on the bottom of steerer tube it is clean like 1pc cnc fork
give me one fork plisss😭😭
Great video dude! I actually learned something, more than one thing actually. I'm in agreement with your opinion on how the fork has a life, every time you use it is a cycle. I'm far from a professional BMXer, but I am a serious rider, and I didn't make it this far by making mistakes. My good bike right now is a 22 inch Encore, and yes, I'm in the market for new " forks". Thanks again dude. Wes Sept
18:15 I went from a CS2 Odyssey dirt fork to Fiend process fork i changed my bars to Fiend Reynolds in 9.25" rise from 9" rise Standard strip bars and installed the Fiend process fork the fork steer length on the Odyssey CS2 forks is 190mm on the Fiend process forks the fork steerer is 162mm long my bars feel low now do you think i need higher rise bars ?
What i find with forks is some are steeper on offset then others and the fork steer tube is longer on some forks then others as well i've always tried to pick a fork that suits my riding style
Just getting into BMX so really appreciate these vids, would love to see one on Hubs.

AFTER HOW MANY YEARS!! ATLAST WE HAVE A VIDEO OF FORK COMPARISON!! THANKYOUUUU
I never thought about running used parts like that before. I'm glad you put it into perspective how much risk you are actually exposing yourself to by buying random parts from people.
As silly as it may sound to you, can a native speaker explain to me what's with the use of "forks" vs. just "fork"? Why the plural?
Allow me to correct you - 11:40 - offset is a measure of length, not an angle, so it can't be degrees; it's usually millimetres. If you draw a line through the centre of the steerer tube, then another line (parallel to the first) through the front axle, the offset is the distance between the two.
Bashforks last 12+ sometimes
Gotta look for paint chips
I’ve been running my Odyssey forks for way too long. I’ve been thinking about getting some new ones and those Odin forks seem awesome. Thanks for these videos. They’re very helpful.
Can we use a race fork for street.
Odsy director fork was the best.
