The most accurate review I’ve ever seen on YouTube! 👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you!
thanks to your test i decide to not buy with lens :)
Would you get this lens if it cost $350?
Very honest and fact filled review, thank you
Haha hahaha... I bayed today.... Perfect review, thanks 😍
I really hope they release some "proper" zeiss zooms eventually. I'd love to have a compact 24-70 for my A7C.
I’ve just bought an A7 II so I was excited by the Zeiss badge and low second hand cost of this lens. It would appear this would not be an ideal first lens for this camera
pls advise on a7Riv: this lens VS sony 24-105 G f4? which one better performance?
The Zeiss brand means absolutely nothing these days. Sony lenses are mostly horrible corrected.
meh. I agree with the review. the lens is stupid expensive for what you get. I did find a good example for 300 so for that kind of money I'm fine with the purchase.
No APS-C test?
Can anybody say smth about video shooting with this lens ?
There is probably one good reason to purchase a used copy of this lens: Infrared photography. It might make sense to use this lens for IR photography, since it does not have a so called hot spot in the middle of the frame. Unfortunately the 24-70GM and the 24-105mm are not really usable for IR photography because of an immediately visible hot spot.
For the price This lens is very pricey.Wouldn't recommend at all.I sold mine. Now I want to buy new sigma 24 70 2.8 or even tamron 28 75 mm 2.8.
So much hate for this lens. I bought it used for 500€ (actually, new) from a guy who got it in A7 kit and never used it. The Tamron was not an option for me as it's not stabilized and I have an A7 Mark I. Plus I prefer to buy native lenses (what about in camera corrections with a Tamron ?), I bought a Samyang 35mm F2.8 recently and got a little disappointed. The 24-105, good but too heavy and expensive. What's the point in having a compact FF camera if I buy a lens that is twice as heavy as the camera itself ? So I chose the Zeiss 24-70 F4, sold the 28-70 kit lens that I got with my A7 and never looked back.
This is such a step up, a night and day difference. With the kit lens, the borders were so soft (not even the borders, but I'd say 1/3 of the pictures) especially at 28mm. The Zeiss is not perfect either but hey, it's a zoom, don't expect a prime performance. At least it's MUCH better than the kit lens. From 28mm to 65mm, the Zeiss is very good even at F4, great at F8, and beats the 28-70 in every aspect. Color and contrast are great too. At 50mm F4, there's barely any difference with my Sony FE 50mm, at least you need to zoom like crazy if you want to see some. And at 35mm F4, it beats my Samyang, especially in color rendition.
Maybe I had a very bad copy of the 28-70, and a good one of the 24-70. But I think this Zeiss zoom is the best weight/performance ratio you'll get for the A7. Of course there are better alternatives, but much heavier and more expensive. New it's a bit overpriced, but if you got a good copy used, it's worth every penny, especially if you're looking for a step-up over the kit lens and for an all-around lens, to travel for example.
this lens is sh*t
....well done .....i'm missing a comparison to the Canon 24-105 mm F4.0 L IS. Do you have any comparisons available?
kind regards...
one nice thing is for video it has almost zero focus breathing
Serial numbers play a part with this lens the early copies started in 457 or 458, most issues are with those, plenty of people are happy with newer copies starting from 459 upwards. Sony have had quality control issues with the 24-105 as well being de centered. There's many pro landscape shooters who rate this lens, unfortunately when the A7 system came out these where probably whizzed out of the factory without the QC required.
Not sure why Zeiss' quality has not been convincing the last few years or is it that other manufacturers have caught up like Sigma and Rokinon/Samyang.
Take the sound volume to the top if you want to hear something in this video...
Are you the little brother of kai?
I think the f4 just won simply because of size. If I want to do low light street, I can grab my 35mm or 55mm.
lol bummbag... good way to play if off
Why would you use 3200 ISO 1/8000 shutter? I'm confused. Wouldn't 1/1000 be plenty sufficient for shots of buildings and people walking at 800 ISO for better image quality? You would use 1/8000 to freeze a flying bird or something really fast right? Someone help a noob.
Hi, Thank you for the video. It would be great to add a comparison between these two indoors.
DOF aside, the 2.8 lens looks much better in contrast and tone.
never owned a lens with so much distortion as the zeiss F4, it's clearly an adv. strategy to put Carl Zeiss's name on that piece of garbage. really good built quiality but really really poor image quality. it distorts not only on the sides of the image but really near the middle, did a whole shoot with to models and when i looked at the material they had a Quagmire face going on. real bummer
what's recommended for newborn photography f2.8/f4
4:40 cameraman is focusing on the guy wearing a suit instead of the subject lol
Hi, At 2.50 you said that it has dispersion lens to help chromatic aberration as well as colour fringing - are they not the same?
Afinal, vale o investimento na 24-70mm 2.8? ou a 24-70mm F4 satisfaz?
hello
i wanna buy a zoom lens for my a7 iii
i look for a lens for making movie
which one is better to me?
Is it possible to use the Zeiss 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS lens in conjunction with a Sony FE 2x teleconvertor or is the teleconvertor only to beused with a 70-200mm lens?
How does Sony 24-105 compare to these two lenses ?
Does anyone know which is better for video!? I have the Zeiss currently. But thinking of switching to GM for video performance.
Not looking to use this for portraits... Just for all around shooting. I have a 24-70mm f/4 Vario-Sonnar and I have just purchased a Sony A7iii.
I hope to use the Vario-Sonnar (at least for a while) on my new camera. In your opinion will I be terribly disappointed with the image quality?
Do we know what camera/ video camera was this video shot on? Looks pretty solid
Shoots Sony with a Fuji shirt
I was curious about the G master, that's why I was watching this video. But I've been shooting for the last 3 years with one lens and one lens only - the Zeiss 24-70 on my a7rii. Love it. The weight and image stabilization is a game changer, especially when zoomed to 50-70mm. All photos on my website are shot with this lens if anyone is curious. www.connorseanphotography.com. Only thing I would like is the 2.8 aperture for lower light.
I have the Sony a7rii what lens do y’all recommend for super sharp, crisp image quality with the same focal length around 24-70?
Idk. Did not find a lens as versitile as this one for cheaper or +- the same. Im thinking hard to get this one, but it might be the move. Could pick it up for 500.- while the tamron goes for 700 or more
If I can get this $500 (new), worth it?
I got this lens for 350AUD which is around 250USD used which is a crime.
Definitely suits your outro, yes you're good at making mistakes. This lens is a steal on its current price at 2020. 400-500$
What do you think of a used copy in the $300-$400 range?
Exactly what performs better thats cheaper?
I bought this lens a couple a months ago brand new from Sony. I paid 498 dollars! You can't go wrong at that price. I use it on my 7RII and it performs surprisingly well at anything from 30 to 60mm. If you take into account that this lens can replace the Zeiss 35 f2.8 (by using the OSS) it's a bargain! It's not particularly sharp in the corners at 24 and kind of soft at 70, but as I know its weaknesses I make sure I use it between those ranges and get excellent results!
I actually like this Sony lens a lot. Reason why I gotten it back in 2016 was because it was the best 24-70 mm lens for Sony at that time before Tamron and Sigma started making dedicated mirrorless lenses. And im still using it today. Its light weight, versatile, has OSS, and great build quality. Would definitely rate it a 4/5 stars. Yes, not having the f/2.8 is huge as that can help gather more light in low light shots. But for sure I do love the OSS as that helps me a lot with video recording. Combine the OSS with Sony's IBIS and a gimbal, the shakey movements are almost non-existent.
The other reason why i got the lens is because of the fast auto focus that tamron can't keep up with especially for videos. With run-n-fun situations, i do need fast auto focus and this lens never fails to impress me on its fast auto focus. For $800 U.S. dollar, it is the most affordable 24-70 mm zoom lens right now. Tamron is 28-70 is at $900 u.s. dollars while Sigma is at $1,100 u.s. dollars. I do own the sigma DN art zoom lens too and i prefer that one for photos for sure. overall, Sony 24-70 mm zoom is still worth picking up today for $800 or less.
Dear does this lens goes together with sony apsc? Like a6400? Thanks
Great video.
Thank you for your film. It is very helpful for me to know about the lens. May I ask you a question? 5:17 there is oranges and strawberries. Did you do color grade? Did you use picture profile ?
if you did, would you let me know what setting you used? Because I am film how to cook at home and it is very difficult to show the original color of food on my videos.
your video says 2020, but was recorded in 2019. ????
Hi there my FE 24-70mm Lens Cap got broken so I ordered a 55mm sony lens cap. Is it the right mm size for this lens? I'm worried I ordered wrong coz I saw from this video that the size is 67mm. 😑
Agreed! This is a beast of a lens and definitely the best bang for your buck for a 24-70/28-75 focal range for song!
the "click" in lightroom to fix lens distortion is a nice info! Thank you a lot
whats the cheapest and better in 24-70?
You people must have a bad Copies, because mine its wonderful, mine Carl Zeis on the front of the lens i can read .What did you get Garbage?
Bhphoto: "Dust- and moisture-sealed design better permits working in inclement conditions and rubberized control rings benefit handling in colder temperatures."
Do a favor and do not buy this lens. Get the 24-105 or the Sigma 24-70 f2.8
It is a little slow to focus in close up isn't it? however very sharp when it does!
Thank You!
I got one for $400 U.S. Dollars from eBay. It's quite decent on my Sony A7iii. I do like the weight and size...
Hello thank you for your video. How about moving sence with gimbal such as ronnin s?
Forgetting about the price difference, 24-70mm is better than 24-105mm? I speak from the point of view of lens quality.
Good video, Thanks.

And is it good for a7iii?

Have a EY Focus in less?
I bought it, and i'm never using it. I use the 55 1.8 most, and 85 1.8.. and 35 2.8 . Its just OK, nothing special
So is this worthwhile to buy?
How do i know wat Filter/Polarizer Size is good for my lens
Not a sharp lens at all.. meh on FF, pretty bad on APSC
It's 67mm filter size NOT 62mm for anyone concerned
Such ugly photos, damn you suck as a photographer.
Good all around lens
about 30% of your photos are not sharp, come on
