How does one get those grid lines at 6.00 anyone ?
funniest camera reviewer, right behind omar and kai =)
help me decide.
sony 85mm 1.4 GM or sony 85mm f1.8 or zeiss batis 85mm 1.8
Dude you saved me a lots of money. I’m not buying that lens when the AF is moving slow as ever on video. I’m trying to find a good fast lens for making music videos Thats going to sit on a Jibone I can see it know everytime that Jibone move my video will be all Jack the helll up.
I agree with the cheaper options, but I was able to pick up a used copy for $1,000,And I have to say that I normally shoot it between 1.4 and 2.0 and have come to admire the perfectly spherical out of focus lights this generates. I felt like the baddest and the other options with their cat eye we're a little distracting but I could just be me.
Hahah man the last part of the video made me laugh literally lol
i heard everything you said, and i had this,,,if you don't have a dog ant with a CAT.....i have the 85mm1.4 GM and i am very happy with...thank you very much,i learn over the years when you get good stuff ,that will last you,,,in 1983 from fisheye all the way to beercan 70 210mm,including 85mm minolta,28mm,50mm,135mm,500mm,guess what with adapter i can use all with my A7Rll,,,the only native lenses i have its the 24 70 and the 85...GMs........,i learn when you get cheap you keep changing stuff ,,,if i can not afford i do not get anything ,i will wait until i can afford it ,but that its me,please do not get dejunk,i saw the 85 mm1.8 i got it in my hand its a feather ....i would nt trade it for my minolta 85 and mine its almost 40 years old...the only thing The 85 gm should have OSS.i will be upset if Sony comes out with it,,,but again the camera as that soo.ON TOP EVERYTHING I SAID I DO NOT MAKE MONEY WITH THEM,,in few Months i will be going to CUBA for TWO WEEKS i will be taking lots and lots of beautiful pics.am i crazy Maybe,i like to be lol
Compare to this lol,you have the money, get it, if you don't ........get the other ones,,,its like,,,you can not protect yourself with a dog,,,protect yourself with a Mouse lol...Sony 85MM 1.4 G M the best......
4:48 the Sony GM doesn't have F/1.8
I wonder if the ronin sc can handle it? Or even the weeble s...
Samyang AF 85 1.4 and Zeiss Batis 85 1.8 are disqualified.
If the reasons those lenses can't be used are not obvious to you then all I can advise is that you start by being mad.
Just bought this lens and it sounds like a coffee grinder when focusing. Anyone experience this? Seems like a common issue in 2016 so maybe I got an older batch.
I’m buying a used Sony 85mm 1.4 GM. What are some things to look for to make sure I’m not getting ripped off? What are some quick tests I can do?
5:30 Broooooo! You are now my desktop background! those field shots were sick!
I have it and I gave up on it. Too slow to focus, not as sharp and snappy as my sigma 105 f1.4 which is very heavy but it delivers. The chromatic aberration happens with most lenses at that shallow depth of field but on the 85mm happens more than the sigma 105.
I love the way you do yours videos
So interested and funny a the same way.
dude! that self portrait in the field is one my favorite i've seen in 2019.. sick!
Just subscribed man. You have great videos and reviews. And good jokes :) (that joke with no friends really got me). Keep up the great work
Did you review the batis 85
Thanks. You saved me money :-)
Great review. As usually. What camera and lenses do you use to make this movie?
What would you say the best Sony lens is for bokeh?
Should i get 85mm f1.4 gm or Sigma 85mm dg dn art ? Can someone help please!
Have you reviewed the Laowa 105mm F2 STF or the Sony 105mm f2.8 STF? I'd love to see a direct comparison between those two.
17-70mm Tamron for Sony APS-C review please!
Hello, love your reviews
Can you suggest me a best macro lense and camera for diamond photography. That can give me a natural color It will help me alot. I am thinking to get Canon eosm50 + laowa 65mm.
Fantastic job CF. I shoot my portrait with the 90mm macro but wanted to switch to this faster 85mm. Hey Chris, I've just viewed an old Cannon lens review that I found most engaging. I was woundering if you could do some old Sony/Minolta lens review. I consider you "the authority" on all things lenses so it would be cool to have your take on some oldies.
Hi Christopher, great review as every time, if you have to choose between Sony GM 85 F1.4 and Sigma 85 F1.4 DG DN which one you prefer
Compared to the RF 85mm f/1.2, this lens seems to be a bargin
I think 85mm lenses always have flares.
I have seen a ton of excellent portraits that use flare creatively. Seems to be a feature to me.
Like your Honest reviews!
Having reviewed your reviews Christopher, I can confidently say that you come highly recommended!
hmm the cats eyes as a negative? this lens has just about the best overall bokeh shape of any 85 i’ve seen.. meaning rounder and less cat eyed than the competition. rendering and bokeh on this lens are top tier. sharpness wide open is a little soft. i enjoy watching these reviews but i can say from experience on this lens that this review is inaccurate on the above mentioned points
Hideously expensive sums up the review for me.
Aside from pros, and the uber wealthy, realistically, who can afford this lens?
Equally, how many shooters can extract the full image quality of this and other similarly expensive lens?
Very few to my mind.
Nice video Christopher! IMO...Lens is maybe worth 1k at most!
I sense a video for “Sharpest 85mm lenses ever made” (please)
Prefer on 135gm than This,
135 GM is the most perfect lens i've ever seen
Koinonia - Decent fellowship with the camera body; thank you for the review.
Nice, I like reviewers who can justify my eye watering purchase
Correction Christopher, 82 mm filter thread not 77mm.
What do you think GM *really* stands for? 🤔
G M ....good material.POINT
Great job, bro
you got a little dirt above your lip! youll want to get some baby wipes to clean that up bro!
The close focus is 2.6'... as in FEET, not inches... 80 cm is almost THREE FEET!!
Per Sony - "Minimum Focus Distance 2.62' / 80 cm"
Now there is Sigma - smaller, cheaper and better.
USF!!! Go Bulls
Very good review very helpful I’m buying it I’m sold...
🤣🤣🤣 @ your response to the moustache comment
wow. THIS IS THE type of video just like a... best friend trying to tell me everything he knows! Thank you Mr. Zhou!
is this lens appropriate for Sport photography? thank you
6:54 is my favorite part
Bro u r rocking broo I like that I became ur subscriber ❤️❤️❤️❤️
T Y for the advise,i learn something over the years, you buy once and you buy for life,do not believe in djunk, its like getting a mercedes or a Hugo.....i have the 85 gm1.4 for close to a year now or maybe more,,,took about 500 pics ,lets not talk about the noise,,,but works like a charm ,very very satisfied with ,also the A7Rll was little priceeeee at the time 2018 but its going to stay with me until dies hope going to last as long as MINOLTA 9000 that i steal have for close to 40 years, with all the beauty lenses AF from Minolta that was the reason i bought SONY A7Rll,My friends .....you use it Professionally or not get the BEST always ,,,,DAVID i subscribed to your chanel,i feel like i am in church lol,in the good sense of humor, keep it up good advise always,Thank You .
Hey David. If you want a very good Sony Lense to get closer, test out the Sony FE 135mm 1.8 GM.It is so amazing and get close to 70 cm.Its my new favorite lens. And the autofocus is much faster then the 85mm GM.
So what are the other two lenses you always bring with you?
i have the 24mm gm this is my next pickup for sure great video
Excellent review David! Great quality vcontent also!
without you reading the first comment I wouldn't have noticed
as you prepare the rocket and suddenly it shoots to the sky
don't get discouraged and you will see the magic happens
Just found you
But the 85mm Sony GM is a bit Old
& Much slower compared to my 135mm with dual linear XD servos
And my NEWER 24mm GM f/1.4
Keep up the good work
2:13 hey in this part of the video ! what kind of lens you recorded this part ? looks awesome! that smooth around the camera ! or this is a effect video edition ? please I would like to know :(
Nice video. To the point and good samples. Nice job. Now all I’ve got to do is find the money for the lens.
It was time (how come?) for You go to borrow that lens at your favorite (?) shop just for those "among us" who whant to become Sony fanboys and fangirls??? Pffffffffff
So we are such idiots to you.
Hi there, I have recently switched to a Sony A7RIII from my beloved Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, I still have my Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 L II and I'm hesitant whether getting the 85 G master instead of adapting my Canon lens will give me better images, what was your experience having tried both? Thanks in advance
