how can we see thats its sharper in a compressed 1080p youtube video?
Hi, on the DXO test the 18-35mm has very poor sharpness and the 28mm very very good sharpness, what gives Julia. I dont understand?
Hi, I love your clips and they are very helpful. Although you did say clearly at 03:31 the Sony A7S2 and NOT the S1 you mention earlier at the beginning of the clip..I like to be surely clear.. So you did use the A73 and 2 S versions to complete the whole video, right ? I am contemplating to buy either the A73 versus the S version, that's why I ask.. Sure the 28mm f2 will be the first lens to go with the camera. Cheers

Thanks Chris - I'm not a Sony shooter and Im going to buy a A7C so wanted a compact versatile lens for it. This seems to fit the bill. Although I will be using it for video - Im hoping the distortion isn't noticable

@6:27 I don't think one or the other (with or without polarizer) is better. There are certain elements I like the rendering of in each shot (filtered/unfiltered). I think it would be a good idea to blend the preferred elements of each image into a final composition - and get the best of both worlds, so to speak.

Would you recommend over the samyang 24mm 2.8?
Trying to decide to get this lens. Currently have sigma 35 1.4 for travel but so heavy. Want something smaller but worried about not getting enough bokeh from it. How quick is the AF when paired up with the A7II? This set up would be replacing my Contact G2 + 28mm. Would the AF be as fast?

The Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 for portraits and the Sony FE 28 f/2 for travel photography are the best value for money Sony FE lenses. Very sharp, bright and not expensive full frame lenses.

So I just came across you video in a search of the 28mm f2 lens. Great review. I appreciate it .... My situation is this ... I have a Sony A7II and a Zeiss 55mm f1.8. As money doesn't fall off trees for me, I"m thinking of selling the 55mm and buying the 28mm, Thoughts? I mostly shoot video, I have a DJI Ronin S for gimbal work, but dable in photography. I know that Zeiss 55mm is a solid lens, but I don't have disposable income to just buy the 28. I"d like to get started in real estate videos, Do you think I should just keep the 55mm and buy the 28 whenever the money appears .... or sell the 55 and move onto the 28th.
What are your settings for auto focus for this lens during video?

Loved it. I have this lens on my A7III and this is such a nice lens. I love it! In fact, I'm about to leave home for some shots and I am taking only this one with me. The Tamron 28-75 is quite nice lens with some decent macro capability and gives you the same 28mm but f2.8. However, after a while you start feeling it's a bit on the heavy side compare to this lovely 28mm f2. Great video! Keep up the excellent job. One more subscriber here!

Right now I have a 50 mm f1.8 and the 28-70 kit lens. I’m looking to broaden my creative choices beyond/ in addition to what those two lenses have to offer. Would this 28mm lens and the 85mm 1.8 be a good investment to get together at the same time? I’m interested in both video and portrait photography. Thanks again and appreciate your input!

Great review. I'm actually looking at getting my first "serious" camera (instead of using my Pixel 3 phone...lol). What do you think about the Sony A6600 and the Sony 28mm F2? I will be doing a lot of fitness and exercise videos - setting it up on a tripod and recording myself indoors. I will also be using it as a vlogging camera and as a webcam for Zoom workouts. Sony FE 28MM F2 or Sigma 16MM F1.4? I have an a6500 and a7ii. With the 2 bodies I own, I want to have a prime wide and a prime tele(portrait) lens as a double body setup. On a shoot where I carry both and don't intend to switch lenses much. So I could have: [1] a6500 with SIGMA 16mm F1.4, & A7ii with Sony 55/85 1.8. [2] A6500 with Sony 55/85mm 1.8. & A7ii with Sony 28MM F2 Thinking what would be the best combination. Any thoughts?

Great review. I wish one day Sony will produce an FE full frame e-mount pancake lens. It has produced two e-mount APS-C pancake lenses. The Sony FE 35mm f/2.8 is really small but is not a pancake lens.
