I bought this used for 130 euro. It is a sharp lens, but the range and aperture is limited. 28 mm is not wide enough and this makes me not to use much this lens. I wish Sony release a new zoom 24-85 mm f4 or f3.5-4.5 for full frame cameras.

It's a shame Sony didn't make a 24-85 3.5-4.5 kit lens like a fair number of DSLRs used to have. Especially since they had a great A mount 24-85. I guess the OSS is a solid advantage, but it's the compromises in other places that put me off.
If one seeks out the greatest images in photographic history, most every old-school optic was inferior to either of these Sony computerized ED & Aspherical Element zoom lenses (the 16-50 or the 28-70); in other words, critical pixel peeping (or gear) doesn't make one a better photographer...
This lens worth the price if you get a bundle with the camera.

I did buy the Sony 28-70 F3.5-5.6 OSS kit zoom lens used only once. It was for $175 Canadian January 2020 and loving it with my Sony A7 especially because it has OSS stabilization and the only other lenses I have are four 40 year old vintage SLR lenses with no stabilization. I end up just leaving the Sony kit zoom on my camera and took about 12,000 photos with it Jan 2020 to July 2020 and like it a lot I ACTUALLY LOVE MY SONY KIT LENS. I wish my Sony A7 had IBIS as it would steady my photos as I take my photos from after sunset until 5 am so lots of long exposures, however I got the Sony A7 so cheap $540 Canadian with full warranty and it got me into full-frame from the digital compact superzooms I've used from 2006 to 2019. Previously I bought my first film SLR a cheap one Zenith in 1975 new for $75 then in 1981 I bought a super SLR new the CONTAX 139 Quartz for $400 Canadian with a Zeiss 50 mm 1.7 and a TTL flash it was all leading edge, that is until the digital cameras came in and then no more expensive film developing. I am now considering buying a Sony 24-105 F4 G Lens OSS for $1,350 Canadian used when they are now going for $1850 Canadian plus tax used. So my Sony kit lens for $175 used and works very well without any problems except I now want perfection in my pictures, since I am on the edge of maybe earning an income from my pictures as all my friends and family love my pictures from my Sony A7 and 28-70 F3.5-5.6 kit lens as say I should sell my photographs.

Hello! Loved the video. Great work. But I have a question. I'm a photographer who has been shooting with Nikon D3400 for the last 3 years which was my first DSLR and now I'm thinking of upgrading to a full frame system so that i can start doing more paid assignments. The thing is I'm pretty stuck on getting the Sony A7III! I simply love the camera. But, I'm really confused as to which lens i should get with it. Because I'm kind of tight on budget. And moreover, I still haven't made up my mind as to whether I just want to shoot potraits for a living or try out different kinds of photography initially and then figure it out along the way! So I was thinking if i should get the Sony A7III body with the Sony 50mm f/1.8 lens cause it's pretty versatile. But I'm not quite sure about getting the kit lens because it definitely stretches my budget a bit.
I do know about the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens as my friends suggested me to get that lens instead of the kit lens but that's also pretty expensive here in India. I just wanted to know what do you suggest I do! Should I get the kit lens or not, or is it enough if i get either one out of the 50mm and the Tamron lens for the time being and get the other one eventually down the line. What do you say?

I have a chance to buy this Sony kit lens that includes stabilization for $150 Canadian so it is a no-brainer for me to buy this lens. Thanks a lot. Can you please make a video with couple shoot on A7iii on 28-70 (mostly at 28 to 35 mm) with single off camera flash(like Godox TT685s) with ND filter so that we can get beautiful sky without using HSS. I Have shortlisted this kit (A7iii+28-70,1xX1T-s with TT685s, ND4, ND6, ND8 filters) as my Mirrorless Full frame starter kit. I already have Nikon D3300 (its shutter life is coming to end). Doesn't have HSS, doesn't focuses well with ND filter.

just bought A7 with this kit lens but it's strange when turning to the 28mm the lens is not fully folded? around the 50mm it is fully folded in. is this normal with this lens?
You're so right. I'm looking at upgrades on a budget but I'm not sure it's worth it. I did buy the Sony/Zeiss 24-70 and even though its color saturation was better, nothing else stood out compared to this kit lens. I determined that the slight improvement was not worth the money so I sold it. Trying to decide by watching all these 24 to 75 zooms and primes videos. Just not sure it would be worth it to upgrade - for photography. Sharpness is most important to me.
I like this lens, it was my first lens and I still find myself using it a fair bit. My work involves a lot of streaming and it is my goto for that. I also like to use it when I am at something (my kids birthday, going to the park etc) that I may want to take some photos but don’t want to be there as a ‘photographer.’ The lens is configured robust enough for just taking a nice photo as point and click but gives me enough to play with if I want to in these situations. My other goto lens for this sort of thing is my Sigma 50mm f1.4 but this Sony lens is a lot lighter than that.

Have to agree it's no slouch, i don't use it often enough due to having the Zeiss 55 1.8 on my A7. Stabilization is solid like you say and it's sharp in the sweet spot. Shame it's not 24 on the wide. The 24-70 F4 Zeiss is no sharper than this but 3 times the cost.
Not a Sony guy but still enjoyed the watch! If I was rich I'd probably have both Canon & Sony lines hahaa!
Looks like a great piece of glass. The only slight downside is that variable f stop. Could cause some problems if you're using it deep with low light options

I own this lens and was getting discouraged, after seeing this video now I understand it’s not the lens it’s me! This video just gave me the push to not give up and keep practicing! Thank you! ❤️ I usually have my ISO in automatic I think I need to play w it more manually.😅

YEs don't be fooled by Sony's "kit" lenses, ALL of their kit lenses shoot past the typical kit like results. VERY pro quality! Little slow but after that, great separation, awesome colors, EXTREMELY detailed even with the A6000. If you hear someone say "kit lens" for Sony... snag it. She just proved to millions of people that kit lenses of these brands are more than worthy of getting the job done and some. That lens will make you money... get off Full auto and embrace these bad boys, I'm picking one up tomorrow, maybe I can show some photos when I'm done with my shoot.
Hi Julia, im tempted to purchase your lightroom presets packs (or whatever they're called) because I love the way your images are edited, and it fits in with my "style". I'm not a 100% sure how it works though, so for example if I shot in raw, then used your preset would it also apply the same sharpness parameters etc?
