How does this lens and the a9i perform in low light?
Example indoors with no lights on
Sigma 35 mm Art is sharper up to 5,6.
very helpfull, but i would like to know if the pictures you put as an example are in 16mm ? because i don't see any distortion at all, thank you
Handheld or gimbal?
Firstly Thank you.
Until Youtube can slow down videos please talk slower.
Now you need to make one movie when you explain what SONY camera choose because people are confused. Maybe divide something from photographers, videographers and both from cheap to the top. MAKE IT :)
Max i bought Athis lens thanks!!! Give me a song from this movie great I want to use it too:D
Max, though question: For a FF beginner, would you get this 16-35 G or the 24-70 G? Which one do you think is more versatile (for video). Thank you.
Again the rider's faces in the shade of their helmet hat seem crashed.
12 24 no bockeh ???
any comparison between the older Zeiss Vario-Tessar FE 16–35 mm F4 lens. this Zeiss lens is lot cheaper than the sony one.
your gimble work
What would be the cheap option that can compete with this lens???
Hi, thank you for the info and the good review! What do you think about this 16-35 as a walk-around lens? For sure it is great for landscapes, but what about some quick portrait during travels?
Hey max, do you have s video about this 16 to 35 vs 16 35 f4. I'm on the fence which one to buy. I'm worried about quality of video with either lens, not cost.
can I use this lens as a allrounder for filming or would the 24-70 be better?
Hello, I only shoot portraits and event photography. What do u think would be the best G Master lens for my A7iii as I would only be able to afford one and would prefer the best qualified for all my work.
Guessing its Between 24-70 2.8 or 16-35 2.8
The lens pop out at 16mm??? Same as the Sony 16-35 f4???
Bought the 16-35GM for 1400€ used - I think for that it’s the Perfect lense for me (landscape Photography )
The lack of character is deal breaker for me. Lol
i paid 1500 USD for mine used. love it.
Loving your lens videos. I'm thinking this paired with a sigma 85mm Sigma should do it. Either this or the 24mm G Master
Hello, Please help mine is flaring not ghosting when shooting outdoor sunset time when the sun is in the side. Is there something wrong with my copy or with the coating on it
Idk if I had a bad copy but at 30-35 it drastically lost sharpness :/ ended up just going with a prime
How do you feel about the 16-35 F4 or the 12-24 F4 G lens versus this GM lens? Sorry if this question was asked and answered.
In your opinion what is the best 35mm / 40mm AF lens for video on the Sony A7siii?
Why compare with a competitors 24-70?
Just got this lens, used but more or less new (like 9 month). Paid equivalent to 2200 canadian dollars. I am pretty happy about my purchase. Thanks for an excellent review!
What lense are you using for this video?
Great review! Except one thing...why are you comparing the 16-35mm GM to a Canon 28-70mm? Wouldn't it be better to compare the 24-70mm GM to the Canon?
I only buy my camera equipment in Hong Kong, found this lens brand new for $2220 CAD. Tax Free.
I bought today that for 1800 euro. not bad.
Excellent review, sir! As a landscape and product STILLS X-T3 shooter (no video), I have been debating on selling my Fuji kit (reluctantly), and moving into FF, specifically the Sony a7Rlll and lenses like the Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM (or the Sony/Zeiss 16-35 f/4), and the 90mm f/2.8 G Macro . Since I shoot 99% tripod-mounted, neither IBIS nor video interests me. So, my question is, for large print output (around 24"x 36" prints), how much of an improvement in terms of image sharpness, detail rendition, dynamic range, base ISO performance, etc., would I see over the already excellent X-T3 (combined with the ultra-sharp Fujinon XF80mm f/2.8 Macro lens), when using the a7Rlll and the Sony 90mm f/2.8 G Macro tripod-mounted? And how does sharpness at f/8 compare to that of the Sony/Zeiss 16-35 f/4? (If I could save money on the f/4 WITHOUT losing much in terms of image sharpness at f/8, that would be nice.) Thanks!
I’m an artist with no photography background who bought this lens with an A7RIV. Any tips on shooting landscapes from a settings perspective?
I get that the canon 28-70 is sharper then this is, but I still don't think it should affect the sharpness score of this lens as they are completely different focal ranges.
I've only just noticed my little cameo 30 seconds into the video 😂😂 I'm considering adding the 16-35mm GM to my gear so I rewatched this great video again 🤗🤗
Great review. Really appreciate.
Would you recommend this lens for over the top tasty(food channel) style videos ?
Or please suggest the best lens for A7iii for food videography over the top videos.
It doesn't use plastic. It uses polycarbonite. That is the material that was in the window of Superboy's spaceship he travels from the planet Krypton. Very rugged and chip proof.
Any other lenses you're dying to hear more about?!
This is my first and only lense... have been trying to research other lense to see if there is anything else worth buying but since I really only enjoy landscape photography hard to find any that would be worth buying after this
Such an incredible in depth review on this lens. I have been going back and forth for the last 2 months trying to decide wether I should purchase this, you’re review gave me the information and confidence I needed to purchase. Thank you 🙏
I got this lens recently, but I'm wondering if I need 20mm 1.8 for Astro photography and for low light shooting.
Super let down by this lens, especially for Astro :( the sigma 14-24 was way better. I think the focal length is amazing but for its price tag I just expected more
I would if it didn't cost an arm and a leg!
I’m quite the opposite of you. My most used lens is Tamron 35-150mm F2.8-4. The only time I grab my Sigma 14mm F1.8 is for Milky Way and indoor shots. I don’t know why I don’t like the wide look landscape shot.
I just saw your sick photo of the Kimo Theather here in Albuquerque. Would love to connect if you are ever in the area again!
Totally thinking about adding this lens to my bag. You got me sold.
Love stumbling upon other smaller channels putting out sick content.
Thank you for this 🤙🏽
Nate, Thanks so much for the educational piece! It was super helpful!
Well explained, love it.
i rented if for a weekend, was a loot of fun and it helped me to get some of the shots i wanted, i do photograpy just for passion with a classic A7 mk1, still was fun and results were way above my expectations.
i recomand everyone to rent first before they buy, for example i rented the 55mm and i ended up seeing almost no gain over my classic 80' pancolar for street photography, i am actually more confident with the manual focus than with the autofocus from this 7 years old camera :))
Thanks for the info and advice! Much appreciated
No stabilization though.
Nice vid. Owned the f4 G version for 2 years ever since I switched into Sony. Made some great pics with that Sony/Zeiss w/a zoom, but I'm starting to hanker after the GM and I'm wondering in real world terms just how much better the GM is in terms of IQ? Also if +1 stop vs the f4 is really useful in practice for a w/a when it's so easy to push ISO one stop or, if needed, just use a faster prime? I'm lucky in that I can afford one, just unsure if it's really worth the significant extra wedge, bulk and mass? Albeit mass at 680g is only + 160g vs. my f4, which doesn't sound that much more in practice. Generally I appreciate great engineering/design. I'm a sucker for quality and prepared to pay more if/when it's justified - but equally hate wasting money. I already suffer from GAS so don't just want to pay a premium for the sake of snobbery or just a modest benefit.
I would appreciate perspectives from anyone who might have owned/used both, to help inform my decision. Any views? Shared real user experiences, opinions and insights, rather than an academic or theoretical comparison of differences could really help. Also what does Tamron bring to the w/a party, in practice, with an extra stop, albeit also with a truncated range 17-28mm? I hear good things about Tammie but suspect quality and sheer satisfaction in owning/using isn't up to GM levels? Apart from cost, when I bought my G I thought IQ would be pretty good (which it is) and that in all probability f4 would be OK or that I could easily push ISO + 1 stop if needed. F4 isn't really fast enough for astro, so I previously bought a 24mm f1.4 GM prime, but a fast wider capability would be neat. Also considering a Sony 20mm f1.8. prime and whether that might make a better choice to accompany my f4 16-35 when I need faster wide? Or whether it's better to just go GM, sell my G?
this is so helpful! Thank you!
Just ordered this last week!
Wow, this video makes more inclined to buy & start exploring my creativity !
I think the Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM Lens is even better.
well this just sold me on that lens im using the a7r3 also
is it only good for landscaping?
Was this shot handheld or used a joby/extension? Seems stable🤙 lovely video
Of all the reviews, you’re the only one that says it’s light weight
Do you recommend a good ND Filter for video to use with this lens?
Did you use an nd filter to block the sunlight? Or was it completely the lens...
Just bought a ronin s. Gonna pick up a g master and see how it performs on that gimbal
hi Chris! What lens do you use for your sitdown vlog vids? 24mm 1.4? Thanks so much!
Hey I shoot with a sonya7riii and sony 24-70 2.8 gm. What advantage do you think this 16-35 has over the one I use? Thanks in advance.
Just ordered this lens for vlogging on my fiance's food & travel youtube channel. Can't wait to get get it now!
Good video, where to find the sound track?keep up the good work.
great video, thanks for the info. I've been thinking about that lens for a while.
where is that location? looks like Oregon or Cali.
What sunglasses brand??
This or the new Tamron? I really can't decide!
Wow! What beach is this?
what are your thoughts on nd filters, recommendatons, do you ever use them?
Great video-thanks! I feel so dumb! I have just about every single Sony FE lens but only just a few days ago got the 16-35 G Master. I shot an event yesterday and looked at the shots last night and was totally blown away at how great the images look! Super sharp! I usually use the the 24-70 G Master but realized shooting 90% of the time at 24mm wishing I could go wider! Now I can! Get this lens!
What’s the song you used in this clip?
for traveling, would you suggest 16-35gm or 24GM? looking to take landscapes and portraits
which filter holder system do you recomend me to be compatible for that lens (for to avoid the vignetting), nisi v5 pro, including its cpl are a good one ?. thank you Chris!
