Is the Sony A7R II Worth Buying in 2019?
Are we going to have a Jeff Daniels on America being great again? Maybe it's the best for you or for a certain type of photography, but definitely not the best at everything.
Thanks for your comments and inputs. Very useful.
You talked alot
What camera was used to make this dark video??
He says that you need the 42 mpx because you might not be experienced and need to crop. If you're not experienced you should be working on your skills not spending 10k dollars on a body and lens and a half.
A7rii is honestly the best camera avaliable in my opnion! Thanks for the super helpful video. :)
There's a new canon r5
slowest camera in the world.
Just got this camera off of Ebay for $990 with 4700 shutter count. OMG. Canon Nikon Sony they all take great pics. But imo the A7 line is the easiest to use and the autofocus system is the best. $990 lmao.
:-)
Great passion for the utility of a good tool! Maybe Jason you can also talk about and compare it with the A7R iv???
Thanks Jason for tour rewiew. Please tell me if the sigma mc11 adapter is the best for canon lens es or which one do you recomend?
Great Video Jason! I used to work for Sony and have been shooting with the A7RM2 since 2016. Still amazing today, thanks for sharing! Feel free to check out my work on my page
What is the lense that you use ?
I waited for 4 years to finally be able to purchase this amazing camera!
I am a owner of an SLT-A77 camera and want to upgrade it by getting a full frame. But all these cameras doesn't have GPS anymore! Is this a joke or what? I found a new A7R II (1400 EUR), but the no-GPS capability and the low FPS (5/sec) demoralized me.
Hope is still that good now because that is what im going for!💖
your kinky photos are turnoff
hi jason few years back i bought the A7Rll it works like day 1,,thanks to you ,,,i bought it with 24 70 ZEISS f4 ,,, and few Months ago bought the 85mm 1.4 GM .....very happy with the gear,,,,like to ask a question, you think the A7Rll its a Camera to last as long as my MINOLTA 9000 AF i steal have it with all the gear~~~~~~Lenses,,,,do you remember when you shot theMinolta lens 70 210mm beercan and the 50 mm attached to Sony A7Rll that did it for me,,,,,,sintese then i am an happy person TY..
I hate it because I don't have it.
Great review, thank you! Would you still consider this camera relevant five years later, and would you still recommend it? The current price point is very (very) interesting and in paper it seems it holds it's ground quiet well! Thanks again.
LOL...
Bought mine used for 670 ebay👍🏽
Joshua you are here😎
Is this worth in 2020?
Einfach heftig wie viel Videos du drehst. Ich glaube da geht ne Menge Zeit drauf. Ist aber sehr spannend zuzusehen und man kann wirklich von überall deine Videos schauen.
MY biggest problem is lens. I really want this camera, though it requires a sharp lens to take advantage of it. I use this rule of thumb, the lens should cost around the same as the camera....
I’m sorry to be critical but this video has too much small talk and not enough real information
The Sony alpha a9 ll the best
I got a used one for 1k and it has like 7k shutters. It came with extra batteries and a grip lololol
4 years later. Finally I can afford one. A used one ofc
the current UsED price of that lens is about $600. surprised he never mentioned that part.
I've A7Riii and very happy with her.
When he said 'It's just a disappointment', I was literally about to close video and cancel my order of A7 rii.
Is the mark 3 better is the Pentax K-1 better

doesn't this camera have like a cell phone camera sensor??
Good
Many of the pre-owned ones on Ebay are actually selling for more than the brand new price, sad but true
For some apparent reason my a7r II IS NOT SHOWING the 4k option in the menu! It's not even there and greyed out, it's simply NOT THERE! I have tried EVERYTHING, can you help me out?
It's so stupid when people say a camera is "not professional" unless it has 2 SD slots. I have yet to see an SD fail in a camera. Also, how would you classify all the pro cameras before dual-slots were even available?...not professional? I also hate when people say "APS-C is not professional"...freaking idiots. What pisses me off the most is when people label themselves as "professional photographer" a true professional doesn't need to gloat.
Dude, if the camera is tailored for still photography, why do you even bother comparing it to a dedicated video camera? I would say that you putting yourself out there, reviewing cameras, should have some respect for the audience and try to help them, rather than trying to look so professional and showing off how great gear you are using...
Sony APS-C crop is 1.5 Canon APS-C crop is 1.6
42 megapixels, no Anti-Alias filter!! This is still a winner for photo especially landscape/product And only USD 1800 now! Battery life not great but easy to power externally. Almost bought the brand new Canon R5 but: it has the AA filter = less detail despite being 45mp. Also to power the R5 externally, you need to use a dummy battery, which is lame. Of course A7r II video is very outdated now but for a stills shooter, it's not a biggie.
you can use USB charging to compensate for the smaller battery the image quality is very good. you will not notice the difference unless you pixel peep when compared to a7riii the only major features that are better/matter in a7riii/a7iii are 1. the 10fps shooting speed which most people don't need unless they are shooting sports stuff 2. little bit better low light performance 3. the quick access button to crop (whereas in a7rii you can't assign a shortcut) A7RII is really a very good camera. If you are not a professional level photographer who needs the best of everything, A7RII suits all your needs
I’m Sold!
Why does nobody talks and complains about the annoying proximity sensor of the A7RII? It makes shooting with the monitor in bright daylight impossible (it switches to EVF constantly). There are recommended fixes (glue black tape over half of theoroximity sensor) but they don’t work very well.
It was an excellent camera when new and is still an excellent camera today. Does not have all the bells and whistles but it still rocks the house. Just be sure you have at least 4 or more batteries to cycle through. I have had all the R series cameras and currently have the rIII and rIV. Look for a good deal but if you can fork over enough for the A7rIII it would be a better bet for you.
Sorry, for me the most important thing in a camera is..... taking pictures....I just heard about display, battery and video. That video was not helpful for me. I still don't know, if it is worth for buying this cam for taking a picture
Does it have eye auto focus?
It helps if you get your fingers off the end of the lens
I am a owner of an SLT-A77 camera and want to upgrade it by getting a full frame. But all these cameras doesn't have GPS anymore! Is this a joke or what? I found a new A7R II (1400 EUR), but the no-GPS capability and the low FPS (5/sec) demoralized me.
What camera did you use to shoot this video?
The 720 120p is actualy quite good. For a few seconds in between clips, it's really good. I've seen comparisons with the a6300 which I own, and the 1080 isnt much better than 720.
Ikea is the law.
it is worth buying even in 2025.
In 2020?
Just picked up a used A7Rii from a camera store $400 and they sell on eBay for $699-$900+ now.
