Let’s say I have the budget. On my hands, I have a zeiss 16-35f4 and a 28-70. Should I buy this or should I get a 85? I also travel a lot and I really hate my 28-70 so I never use it but I love my 1635. I feel like I need a lens in the 24-70 range or even a portrait lens. Or will you even recommend the 24-105G?
Would you recommend this over the Sigma?
I'm torn between this and the Sigma 24-70. I'm leaning more toward Sigma because it only cost like half of Sony here in Philippines + it can focus much closer.
Damn kensei... So i bought the sigma 24-70 dg dn and tamron 28-75 and compared them for weeks I concluded that the sigma was better, sharper and more consistent than the tamron, so i returned the tamron But then over the past weeks i noticed that on my sigma lens, was a huge dust spec INSIDE the front lens... was so bummed about that So now after seeing this review, i think ima return the sigma and get the sony gm lol And your right, even with the black pro mist on the sigma, it was still sharp and didnt look good.. something is off, i dont know if its the color or what, how you liking the sony gm color/image quality?

Just compared the Canon 5dsr with 24-70 lens and A7rIV with the 24-70..and I prefer the canon lens. Will probably have to get another 24-70 than the Sony in a while.

I just sold my 24-70GM to get the Sigma 24-70and used the extra cash to buy an Aperture light and new CFExpressA card. I wish the Sigma was out back when I purchased the GM!

hello, I discussed with sony's users and they explained me that higher price for Sony 24-70 could be explained by three factors : sony uses titanium, more expensive but more robust to shocks than aluminium used by sigma, sony is better tropicalized and because sigma with newer technology is perhaps better than sony for photos but dual motorization of sony makes its 24-70 better for video 4K and its autofocus. what do you think, mainly for video because I have no idea what we need for video on a camera.
nice review ! I am thinking to migrate from d750+nikon 24-70 2.8 to a7III with a 24-70 2.8 as a first "daily use" lens. I looked the sigma "cons" in missnumerique tests (vignetting, distorsion, bad bokeh, not homogenous) and was ready to buy a sony GM. Everything complaint this video mentions about the RII has been addressed in the 7RIII and 7RIV bodies.
Pray your Sony lens never goes wrong. My 24-70 G Master stopped talking to the body a few weeks ago so sent in via Sony PRO support and it took them over a week to tell me £600 for repair. Paid it, then was told I'd need to pay another £1840 as they found something else wrong with it. So, a £1700 lens here in the UK was going to cost me £2440 to repair. They then claimed the reason it was so expensive was because the 24-70mm G Master is discontinued. Shambles. As someone who makes his living from his cameras this experience has not filled me with confidence and my only other Pro support experience was with Nikon and it was nothing like this. Sony are smashing it with their technology but their customer service is a disgrace.
I'm really annoyed at how much this is a review of Sonys camera system and not the lens. A lot of the camera stuff isn't true about the newer bodies so this review has lost a lot of it's relevance.

Hi !!3 months ago I bought my A9 with the 24-70 f2.8 GM and here comes the problem: It continually leaves me abandoned in the middle of work because it stops focusing and on the screen it appears: F - -. I got tired of taking it out and putting it back on but I not only lose important moments of registering but I run the risk of it falling to the ground. I also use the Sony 70-200 2.8 GM and the Sony Zeiss 16-35 f / 4 and no problem with them. I hope you help me please. God save you!

I've used this lens professionally and it's great. It does do a fair bit of purple fringing though, and if you shoot with an a6000 or original a7 that do not have ibs you'll be running with absolutely no stabilisation. Those are my only complaints. Besides that it's amazing

I agree, the bokeh on it is generally not that great, especially with trees (like a sharp/harsh looking bokeh). That's why I'm considering getting the 24GM for creamy wide shots
