Other reviews said AF became very good with firmware updates. Based on this review, I'm going to use it at f4 most of the time.

At my budget for a 50mm prime, I can chose between the cheap-o Sony F1.8 and the Samyang F1.8. I think I'd prefer the Samyang optics, but its not weather sealed. I think the Sony is, but I'm not sure and I did not hear you mention it one way or the other.

Shot with sony a6400 and 50mm lens 'Gooooood Eeevning' nearly gave me heart attack.
After watching Christopher’s RF 50 f1.8, this FE 50 f1.8 really SUCKS vs what the $200 RF delivers optically at all apertures(f1.8 to f11), from center to corner. At the corners, the FE must stop down to f4 to match the RF’s f1.8 @ corner. RF 50 f1.8 review: got mine today. Stay clear, the auto focus is awful. You also have to be in F2.8 in practice, since 1.8 is really bad
I feel like it’s the same thing as canons 50mm f1.8. It focus hunts and makes noise while focusing.

Loved the video mate. But please change your studio lighting. Your left side is way too dark and addition to that, your cap is also adding dark shadow on most of the area of your face. This is disrupting the eye contact with you, which is breaking the rhythm and concentration while listening to your great review :) +1

I got this for free like 8 years ago. Lol. Had a little fun with this lens on my old NEX 5 with an adapter. Now I sometimes use it on the Fuji XT3. Lens is cool but not sharp.
