Hi Dan, I enjoyed the review. I like the restricted zoom and constant f2.8 on this. But a question, the shutter, another reviewer said, in passing, this has a leaf shutter so we can sync the flash at high speeds, but when I asked him to confirm this he doesn't answer questions. You do, am I right about the shutter, can this sync at high speeds? Cheers Tony.

You have to think of the RX10 really as a camcorder replacement. It has headphone and mic jacks, a built-in neutral density filter, and a constant f2.8 aperture.
I think the RX10 has the better package It’s Almost perfect as a video camera (it needs a fully articulated touch screen) and its very very good for just taking pictures

Does the 1 inch sensor of sony rx 10 ii provide quality footage comparing to micro four thirds of panasonic g7?

The Sony RX10ii is surely a superior choice over the Sony RX100iv. Okay the sensor, and software are similar, but ergonomically, and practically, the RX10ii is a better camera to use particularly with the 24-200mm f2.8 lens on board.
Getting the camera because of the video and photo capabilities at such a low price. I also prefer the bigger body because it feels more like a real camera. The 120 @ 1080p on the RX10 is nice and that zoom makes a huge difference.
Just purchased this 2 years / versions after release.  I need a capable, portable 4k-capable video camera that I can get good stills with as well, with a full range of lenses inside.  Some reasons why I went for this one -  * ND filter - invaluable, I live in Dubai.  No longer featured on the newer models. * Constant 2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range. * Mic input. * Amazing slo-mo. * Slog - a must. * Really good image stabilisation. * Really good autofocus / face tracking. If I'm out doing shoots where I don't want or can't take a lens kit (sometimes on a shoot I need to be inconspicuous, or able to move fast), this is a great buy in my opinion.  A 24mm - 200mm lens at f2.8?  Silent aperture ring?  4k?  IS? Slog?  Mic input and headphone port? Amazing slo mo?  Great AF?  ND filter? And shoots very useable 20mpx stills?  I'm surprised the reviewer didn't think of video shooters that need occasional stills as a potential customer for this one.
I own both the RX10 and RX100M2, and the RX10 is by far my number one choice. I use it 90% of the time. I only pick the RX100M2 when I don't want to carry the bulkier RX10.
Am I the only one who likes the sony dslr/rx10 aesthetic? that's the only thing I like about Sony though.
So, what about the RX10 III? Can it replace a DSLR with a bag of lenses?

How long can does the RX10 ii or iii let you shoot 4k video for? I've seen that the RX100 (even the most recent model RX100 V) will only let you shoot for 4k Video for approximately 10 minutes before dying a slow hot death. The battery life (so I've heard) is also pretty meh.

why would anyone buy this when you can get the Canon G3x for half the price , similar 1 inch sensor but higher zoom(30x/ 600mm)
That is the camera I would pick if I could get any camera for free. Which DSLR gives 960fps slow mo, 4K videos, 360 degree hi res panoramas, etc, etc?
What it's better option for cinematic style vídeo: A6000 + Zeiss 16-70 f4 or Sony RX10 ii? My priority it's Image vídeo Quality, and low light is not very important to me

Sony should split the difference between the RX10 II and RX10 IV and make a 24-300mm f2.8 constant lens with a built-in ND filter. That extra 100mm of reach would make a big difference, and staying constant at f2.8 would keep things bright all through the zoom range. Plus, it would make videographers like Jordan happy because the exposure won't change through the zoom range. Sure, it would have to be a little bigger than the RX10 II, but I think that's a worthwhile tradeoff.

just picked up the rx10ii and it has the micro jitter just like the panasonic 12-35 before the firmware update. really disappointed is there a fix or do i need software to fix this issue. great review by the way as always.
Am I the only one noticing that it seems slightly out of focus all the time? At best it's a very very soft image.

the test refers to an A2M xlr adapter ? but I can only seem to find a K2M adapter and it's over half the cost of the camera? and of that's what was used in this video it's off terrible sound quality?
