Could it be smaller than the 18-105 because Sony factors in some digital zoom with the electronics, it not all zoom from the glass?

I received this as a kit lens with my a6600. For a kit lens, it is sharp, lightweight, and has a quality feel. It's a great travel lens. For street shooting, setting the lens to about 22mm gives sharp results if you have good light. Overall, if you are buying a Sony camera and this lens is part of a kit, get it. Otherwise, for APSC shooters, I would recommend the Sigma trio of prime lenses instead.

For the life of me, I can not get expected satisfaction out of my night the night shots (Christmas lights). Additionally, the IBIS doesn’t seem to be equal to that of daylight video stabilization. I’m speaking to the 18-135– appertaining your comment and recommendation with existing gear. Without the use of a gimbal, I’m torn with the fact that I’ll need to sell the a6600 or someone will need to prove to me otherwise that I’m the issue- or operator error. Hey everyone, I'm new to photography. Could somebody explain why would you want to buy the 18-105mm f4 vs the 18-135mm? In my eyes the 18-135 is more compact, and has variable f-stop(aperture). Anything I'm missing?

Hi Arthur, thanks for the video, I have this lens with the 6600 together with the 10-18 and the 70-350 in my APSC line up. I must say all does lenses are absolutely top also in comparison to my FF material. The 18-135 is definitely more than a replacement of the kit lens, it is a marvel and delivers a top image quality. The 6600 with al mentioned lenses represents a weight les than mij 200-600mm and covers a FF reach of 15 to 525mm not to forget the 18-135 has als a great macro quality compair to my 100-400. I find myself more and more leaving my FF suff at home.

18-135 mm len for sony a6400 is enough wide to show 2 people on the screen while i hold my stick close to me or i have to stretch a lot?

Hi: I recently bought a used copy of the 18-135mn lens based on your informative reviews. My copy does not show the focal distance setting on my a6000 evf or on the image exif data. (That information is available with my kit 16-50mm power zoom lens.) Does your copy show focal distance information? Thanks in advance (and keep up your good work).

I'm thinking of replacing my 55-210mm with this. My most concern is the reach of the 55-210 is handy here and there (for that occasional "bird on a tree" shot). But again it's so bad at 210mm when the subject is far that image could even be better with the 18-135mm cropped? what's your opinion? (I also have the Sony VCL-DH1758 1.7x extender which could help the 18-135 for reach)

1:48 The top part is moving like a jello. That is terrible. The 4k is gorgeous but the jello effect mars everything.

The jello distortion is happening because Sony 18-135mm OSS lens is more suitable to shoot photos, not videos without a stabilizer, I found out about that while filtering the video lens list on Sony website, and the Sony 18-135mm OSS was removed form the lens list when I checked "video"

Such a great video!! I was a little concerned when I purchased this lens but feel so much better now.
heres a question, lately ive been filming my own videos. im using a sony a6400 with a 18-135mm. what am i doing wrong here, i want to put an object close to my lens and focus on it and have the background blurred out. but wheverever i do this, the object in my hand gets blurred and everything behind it remains in focus. what do i need to make this work or what should i be doing to get this effect? thanks in advanced. side note: literally anything i put in front of me wont focus, it just keeps me focused. im pretty new to this
