Hi, I dont know how similar/dissimilar the 503 and 504 are, but, I have purchased a 503 and can't find any information about it anywhere. If you know the differences or just any information about the 503 I would greatly appreciate it.
I've had this tripod for two years and you just taught me how to make it pan. Thanks to you, I will not be buying a new tripod!
This is an excellent tripod and VERY well made , also its very smooth in its tracking movements. I would not hesitate to recommend this. I bought mine second hand for a very good price and this will last you YEARS.
Um, do you realise you mounted the camera the wrong way - pointing sideways - and that's why you can't tilt?  You know that pan arm - lifting it up is for tilting the camera down.  Not for rotating the camera into portrait mode.
The head part is attached to the center pole. You can take the whole thing off and flip it upside down as shown around minute six on the video but as far as I know it doesn't come apart any further.
Is the head on this tripod removable?

I would say is about the same as when I got it. I've never given any maintenance to it and for the most part I use it inside. The paint is chipped away a little in some parts but it has been a very good investment for me.
