Can you use the center column as a monopod itself?

NIce preview, sir,. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that the center column does NOT retract/move (aside from removing it). If so, then I'm confused as to why a manufacturer would design a tripod with a fixed (non-adjustable) center column It's well-known that any tripod is the Least stable when the center column is extended. That's why most professionall tripods have either no center column, or as an option that is completely adjustable. For example, I use several tripods (Leofoto, Promaster, Oben) that all have removable/adjustable center columns. If I do use the center column, I only extend it 1 or 2 inches, and on most higher-quality models, such as the Leofoto LN-254 CT, the small amount of extension does not negatively impact rigidity or image sharpness at all. Again, I highliy recommend a tripod with a removable AND adjustable center column.

Nice video and samples. I have the crbonfiber one and it's awesome. Although is carbonfiber it doesn't feel that light. The ball head is really good; love it for macro photography

I've had my Sirui tripod for about 7 years. I too broke one of those plastic bits. These help the half turn locking. I was a bit too heavy handed when twist-locking. However, my leg would jam with the broken bit. I was gutted, so I bought another Sirui tripod but in red. I then found these replacement parts were sold by an online shop. I now have 2 Sirui tripods and am doubly happy. Awesome tripods. Awesome video.
Sirui will send you those broken parts new, just send them an e-mail, most times they even send them for free, no biggie

You didn't show how the ball head can be removed and mounted directly on the the tripod to get close to the ground

A tripod with a center column that cannot be lowered is a poorly thought out design.
Maybe it's time to save up and buy one of these tripods.
