is this a good lens if you don't have a full frame camera? I am going on safari so need a good lens but on another review they mentioned there is a lot of distortion if you have an APS camera?? Just wondering if it is worthwhile or if I should send it back and get a different one? thanks

Thanks for the review Frank! Just pulled the trigger on mine today. I got the EX series (of course with the APO DG OS HSM) that is supposed to be a pro lens, yet I have no idea what that gives you over a non-pro lens. I purchased because of the price point. I have a 2x teleconverter and hoping that will get me to the distance a 150-600mm will produce, yet the benefits of the 50mm on the low end. It's brand new from New York with warranty for $850.00. To me it's a no-brainer. I'm a hobbyist not a pro and can't see spending thousands of dollars on a lens. Really hoping I will be happy with the quality.
