Hi... there, very helpful review..You says @ 2.03 "it causes vignetting at any focal length wider than 16mm". Mean, on a DSLR full frame or on a crop sensor camera? Would it vignette on a canon m50 with an adapter? Kindly help me. Thanks!
Thank you for another excellent review. This is my second Sigma purchase. Amazon just told me it's out for delivery. Can't wait to get and start using it.
Just ordered one well looking forward to having a play and comparing it to my tokina 11-16 👍👍
Thank you for this review. This lens is not for me.
Hi how bad would the vignetting be if i used it on my canon m50 plus viltrox speed booster. Would you recommend?
year 2020 and I still use it for real estate photography on my second camera a77ii. Although are graphic corrections very needed, I love this lens
please review the XF10-24 when you have a chance :)
Hello Mr. Frost, you missed an important detail in this review. This lens can be used in full frame camera from 14-16mm. I have tested it on a film camera.
Juuust bought it and i can say it is a reaal "bad boi"
This lens is amazing. I have owned it for a long while and is simply a gem. The only thing is it will spoil you if you try to go FF. I recently went FF and there are no options near this wide angle at this kind of price (FF equivalent 12.8mm). This lens is roughly $600-800 (not sure exactly). Only Sigma lenses comparable in wideness on FF is the 12-24mm and the 14-24mm which are $1,600 and $1,300 respectively. Cannot justify it.
I bought this lens and find it has vignetting and noticeable distortion. I did get it off eBay. Yours seems better. Could it be I’m using it wrong?
That's not only a Lens, that's my Love, which i can male with it thousends of Photos, with out getting any boring
I've just given up with this lens, having returned my second example for a refund. The first one just wasn't sharp anywhere on my Canon 80D. I noticed that looking at the focus scale on the lens barrel, the lens regularly focussed well past infinity. This was exchanged for another example, which was better, but still not as sharp as my Canon 10-22 EF-S at the same focal length. More worrying was the fact that with both examples, the EXIF information recorded the "Focus Distance" as 3.53 metres for nearly every shot, whereas with any other lens the focus distance was different for virtually every time. The build quality and finish of the lens is excellent and the extra 2mm at the wide end is well worth having, but on my Canon body the performance is just not acceptable.
"this bad boi"
Has this lens changed or improved in 4 years?
Great review! I got everything i need to know about this lens! Thanks to you!
Do you think this could be used for Vlogging?
If lens isn't reviewed on this channel I'm not considering buying it. After seeing it here I've bought this lens for 170e used. Had a bit of luck. Perfect condition. For this amount of money there is no better lens for apsc in my opinion. Really sharp from edge 2 edge, no chromatic aberration and really really wide. Build quality is absurdly good. For those of us who don't need filters it's absolutely perfect for APS c. On 16mm its perfectly straight and looks acceptable for architectural photography with aps-c sensor. I would recommend shooting between 8 and 11 aperture 4 maximum quality and try not to compose with too much out of focus details. It's only thing that looks cheap on this lens. AF.... i duno... its bad like any other wide angle lens. Im using 5x to 10x price range w.angle lensses and they r not any better. For the most part I rely on manual focus anyways when shootin wide just to be sure.
sober review thanks
Is this, or the 10-20mm version better for travel photography in your opinion? Or should I opt with one that has image stabilization like the Canon EF-S 10-18mm?
What are your thoughts on the 8-16mm?  Will you be purchasing it?  Drop a comment below!
Is it only me or most of this video has focus on the background? Dude it is a lens review! How can you be out of focus, man?
Great review. I realy wonder why your channel so under rated your video skill is amazing
Finally, a vid of a guy actually using the lens. Not just sitting in his room with neon lights in the background, talking about specs and photography. I think ill keep my 10-18 but this was helpful.
Great review... BTW please oil the hinges on your front door...
Is this lens compatible with canon M50 with EF-EOS M adapter?
I've got the Sigma 10-20mm zoom on my T3i - corners are a bit sharper at full wide - Takes 77mm filters - Still wide enough for most applications listed in this video - not too expensive
Great video comparing the differences when you had another lens previously, and how much visual area you gained with the 8-16mm. Thanks
dope lens!
Is it for full frame d750
Hello. The 3:47 onward part of the video are still shoot on 8-16mm?
why dont you share this video earlier? i just purchase a 12-24mm
Got this lens and thanks. Have some pics at @bedevere007 instragram
Thank you for sharing this, Ben! This is the most thorough review of this lens on YouTube. Have you tested other ultrawides, and which are your favorites?
Thanks for the review bro! I'm definitely gonna get this lens!
wow, need to get this one thx
Great video! Can you use this on a Sony a7r iii you think (without vignetting). Thanks bro!
You a creative dude, def got an eye for photography
Is there a manual aperture ring?
What camera was this lens on to do this video?
I just purchased a "new" copy of this lens for 450.00 for my D500. Hard to believe it's still "new" for that price , but I took the plunge regardless. I'm hearing good things about this lens.
I have this lens! It’s my favorite! Subbed. Hope we can support one another.
have you sold sigma 8-16 ???
Very dark video...more light would have maked a better video
I think these days people choose full frame for low light performance, not resolution.
Might have to get this one
I am a Pentax shooter and have several outstanding Pentax lenses. This Sigma, in my opinion, if not better than Pentax lenses, is not worse than them. When ever I take landscape shots, under a blue sky, the color of sky is just amazing. Sharp lens, excellent IQ, great build quality, Unique zoom range. Absolutely satisfied. In fact I like this lens so much that I tried to find out if there is any other Sigma lens with same quality. I will buy that lens immediately.
I have a Nikon D600, and Im about to go traveling in South america. Im really looking for a supper wide angle lens to capture all its beautiful landscape ! do you think it is worth it? Great review! Ineka.
Is it a manual focus lens?
Completely agree here. This lens is great. I've had the Tokina 11-16 & Sigma 10-20. This lens blows both out of the water. Very sharp and very wide. The difference at the short end is considerable.
talking about optical performance is all well and good, but a crap photograph taken through a Schneider or Zeiss lens is still a crap photo irrespective of whether its sharp and free of optical defects. It's composition and light that make a photograph work, not the lens quality. A lot of people still forget that.
funny thing about these lens according to MTF charts, is that its sharper wide open, than stoped down.
is this one also for the nikon d5000?O ris that a stupid beginners question?thnks
Of course it's a biased review, it's my opinion! The Nikon 14-24 is fine lens, is it the sharpest? If you think so, then you are biased... Oh, I see, it's only your opinion, then. See how this works. :) - Edward
totally bias review, although i am a canon user, i have admit that the nikon 14-24 is the sharpest wide angle lens. oh by the way the tokina 11-16 takes filters
So even those this is meant for crop cameras, you could still use it on a fullframe, correct? It would just be a minimum of 12mm?
@jojjebros OK, 3 out of four of the photos... :) The Tree was shot with a Tokina 12-24mm, but it COULD have been done with 8-16mm! :) The other three shots were from the Sigma for sure. - Edward
woops! my bad :D Did you use this lens for the japanese garden tree aswell?
samyang 8mm is pretty nice too.
@jojjebros The 4 photographs that intro the video were all shot with the Sigma 8-16mm. Sorry I forgot to mention that! Thanks for pointing that out! :) - Edward
