Hello, I got from a friend an Sigma DC 18-250 1:3.5-6.3 Macro HSM, this one is not running with my Nikon D5600. The autofocus function is not running. We take also another Nikon to test the camera. The camera doesn´t recognize the lens.

Hello, Thanks for the review. I have a question: My dad gave me a Canon 600D along with an EF-S 18-55mm IS II kit lens. It's my first DSLR camera, and I aim to shoot everything from close-ups to scenes to portraits to running animals etc. Besides, I plan to shoot the Moon, especially when it begins to rise up. I have knowledge of aperture, shutter speed etc. Instead of buying a couple of lenses for different purposes, I plan to sell the kit lens and get a Sigma 18-250mm. Nevertheless, I often hear that zoom lenses have less sharpness compared to prime lenses. In short, what are the advantages and disadvantages of replacing the kit lens with a Sigma 18-250mm? Would I get less sharp photos at the same focal lengths? Thanks in advance.

Both my wife and I have this lens for our cameras. Its great that you only need one lens when you go out for the day or when you are on holiday. We tend to have them set to an aperture of F8 as we find this generally the sharpest for most images.

I have this lens as my walk around lens as the 18mm to 250mm range is great. I have found that it is at its sharpest at F8 through to F11. I have found that at f3.5 to F5.6 is soft and at F16 onwards diffraction kicks in.

Nice and detail review. I just got this lens in 2020 after long waiting of savings from 5 years ago. I paired it with my Canon EOS M5. I think it's still worth it to have as travel lens also for learning macro photo. Also this Sigma's quality is better than EF-M kit 15-45mm that i had. I'm glad that so many people happy with this lens too

I have a slightly older model with a 72mm thread. Unfortunately, I lost the lens hood just over a week ago. Being of a larger filter size, it weighs 160gms more. It's also fitted with the lock to stop lens creep as well as the OS and AF_M/M switch. It's just a big pity that the lens hood retention isn't up to scratch.

I have been using this lens on my Canon T3i(600D) for seven years now. Agreed it’s a fine overall lens. The autofocus is fast and accurate. Stabilization works well for stills as well as video. I shoot everything from air shows, auto shows, nature, and travel to macro. It’s never let me down. It’s sharp enough that a well exposed picture can be cropped in Apple Photos quite successfully. I would recommend this lens for anyone wanting just one lens. It’s the only lens I use. Your review of this lens was outstanding with nothing left out. The video profile of your pictures gave me some ideas for my own. Well done.

Awesome review, but at 6:19 you broke my heart I was ready to get it, your test footage looks eye pleasing, but to use it with a speedbooster on my m50 it has to be a full frame lens.

As far as video, how much motor focus noise is there? I plan to also do videos but love the idea of 18-250mm photos too. Is it that much noticeable? I plan to film Friday night football marching band videos among other live events. Thanks
