I'm running the Canyon G5 stem and bar and I don't like the stem because of how it goes together. You have to take the whole top of the stem off to remove the bars. It looks super strong but i would rather just take the front ring off rather than whole top half.
It would be good to hear from people running into problems with stack heights on the shorter stems being forced to add spacers to clear chubby carbon frames
A big learning experience with regards to bike components that left an impression on me was way back in the day when the whole CNC machined components thing took off in the early 1990s. It was an advertisement by Shimano in defense of their top of the line XTR rear derailleur vs the numerous boutique CNC machined pieces coming out. They made the point that they too CNC'd their derailleurs BUT went a step further by forging them into their final shape because forging creates a much stronger piece with more consistent grain structure and less opportunity for stress risers. Just look at Thomson components. They machine their parts and from very high quality alloys. They WILL eventually crack. You no longer will ever see purely machined cranks for the same reason. Those CNC stems may look beautiful but you could probably get a far cheaper 3D forged stem thats as strong and weighs less and costs less. Lol, I am guilty of this myself owning the Renthal but had a cheap $20 Uno that was lighter and forged and probably just as reliable.

Well I WAS jones'n for the Copperhead. Love Deity and thought it'd go good w/my Blacklabel bars. BUT.. I really would prefer around a 5mil rise or close. I checked out those Renthal Apex and am very impressed. Saw those Apex in 50 & 60 mil reach w/a 6 deg rise and so far you're selling me on those. Nothing said here about the copperhead or ANVL stems? There are so many though, maybe another vid on the OTHER top 5 or 10 that weren't mentioned.. stay tuned..? ~JSV

Sounds like a lot of folks in the comments section didn't check their bike size geometries before they bought. More to it than grabbing the large or medium size. Now they're sprawled way out over the fork tube trying to fit their bike.
Seems like a short stem works pretty good with very straight bars but if the bars have any sweep back angle then a short stem can become twitchy at slow speeds. I'm trying out a 70mm stem now for that reason with Salsa Rustler bars because 50mm just felt too twitchy. I like bit of sweep back for comfort and that seems to reduce the "effective" stem length geometrically and from a steering feel as well. Anyone else experience the same effect? Going to ride with the 70mm tomorrow to see how it behaves on the trail.
I'm using 680mm bar with 45mm stem on my XC, it's super comfortable but the front wheel can't stay on the ground when climbing 🤣

What is better ? To go size down in trail bike with longer stem or larger bike (1 size up) with shortest stem as possible ? I am on the edge of XL (186-194) and I have RB Bandit 475 - I am 188.5cm tall and have 50mm stem, but I am considering switching for 30mm. What is your opinion ? size L with 50-60mm stem would be better than XL with 30mm ? Size L is 2cm shorter (reach) than XL. I took measurements of my other body parts [not that one] and Size calculator in the website of manufacturer said I should take XL.
6 foot tall, medium cube reaction with a 35mm stem and 780mm bars. I feel like the bike does whatever I want it to instantly. I just look a bit silly.

Just ordered a 60mm stem. Current one is 115mm and very flat. Great for the road or going up long climbs but dead scary coming down. I will switch over when I get to the top to come down on the 60mm. 😂 Any thoughts about the rise angle? I had to decide between 7˚, 17˚, and 35˚ so I went for the middle one.

I've seen a few people with stems that are actually too short for them. They followed the trend instead of making the rider happy.  Sometimes a longer stem is better because....that's what fits you best.

yeah... the adjustable stem is not advisable for mountain bike. it gets loose all the time from the rough riding off road. Good clip buddy!
