Massive discussion on this video, more so than I thought would happen, lol. The fact is that Shimano has since made multiple changes to their shifters to give more ergo choices, even taking some design ideas from Sram. The newer triggers give tell-tale signs that Shimano noticed good features of their competition and adapted their own slightly.  In the end, it comes down to whatever YOU as the rider prefers. Who cares if others dont share your choice? I put my opinion and try to show examples here on YouTube, knowing many arent going to agree with me, and so be it.  I'm a Sram fan, have used their high-end products for over a decade and will keep twisting away! You choose what works for you.
Shimano didn’t make twist just for lower end bikes. My Mongoose Pro NX 7.1 has twist shift and it’s been flawless for 22 years now.

Question: You have one finger on your right hand brake lever? Do you ever apply the brakes with only that finger? Or are you using two or more fingers? I'd guess you are using more than one when you actually apply the brake. I don't think that you are really accomplishing much by having that one finger on the brake lever because you have to swing your other fingers around to get onto it when you brake. I would think it would be faster to have no fingers on the lever. I'm willing to bet you can get ahold of that brake lever faster by having no fingers on it, swinging your 2nd, 3rd finger first and adding your first finger last. Put that one finger on the lever then slowly apply the other fingers that you use. It's an awkward motion imo. Now try no fingers on the lever and go for the brake. You may see that you apply your second finger first followed by 3rd and 4th and your first finger actually comes in last. (Maybe it's just me.) I'm no bike expert, but I've been playing the guitar for 40 years. I've had a lot of reason to think about fingers and how they work. I'm NOT claiming that I am correct, I just wonder if there is really a benefit to keeping that finger on the lever. Anyhoo....thanks for the vid on the shifters!
I'm building a motorized bicycle so the Shimano Deore on the right side is perfect for me. Having a throttle, I'll never ride with my hand on the brake lever so that's not an issue. On a motorized bike you want to come off the throttle and stay off for a second until after the gear has changed.
Shimano shifters are absolute trash
Never owned one, but it seems with the twist shifter, there is a risk of the mechanisms wearing out faster. No?
I prefer Shimano but if you have hydraulic brakes you should get sram shifters

Hi I just bought a bike for my son with the same shift. The number on the shift is not matching with the gear. When it's at 7 the indicator is showing 5. When it's at 1 nothing is showing. The number is misaligned. How can that be fixed? Thanks

Thank you very much. I was familiar with the shifters that use the screws and was befuddled with this one. I presumed that the tab needed to be depressed and did not want to break the shifter. Once again thank you very much for your time and effort.
