I have been using Sennheiser HD6 Mix headphones for video/audio editing for years. They are great, but a little tight fit and uncomfortable at times. However, the sound quality is worth it.

Do you need a DAC to use them with a smartphone? I didn't need a DAC to use the ATH-M50s with a smartphone. Also, how's the build quality on those things?
I really like your reviews but honestly, I cannot agree with this one. These headphones are great, I know that, but you say they are great for studio use because they sound really accurate, but they really don't. They have quite a significant baseboost. I own a pair of V-Moda M-100s and Philips Fidelio X2s. The V-Moda is more of a fun headphone like yours, and the Philips are more accurate like you may want (although they are intended for home use). If you want something accurate that you can also use outside, something like the Audio-Technica ATH M70X might be more for you. But I am happy that you enjoy them though, I would too.

This review lack one very important aspect of headphones: How does it sound? Every headphone sounds differently, and for me, how they sound is vital.
GHMusic Services use these now 4 over a year for studio productions. It is very very comfortable specially when session are long and it gives really natural and neutral sound over all frequencies, so ideal for mixing and mastering...and it's relatively nicely priced
I give these a very positive rating for mixing rap music. The sound is flat as stated in video which is a good thing. Flat mixes push you to actually achieve what you want in your mix instead of being tricked by the exaggeration of consumer grade headphones as they make things slap and boom no matter what to get average Joe to buy.
Listening to pink floyd dark side of the moon in these cans is a remarkable experience that allows you to truly get a grasp of the level of production and work that went into that album.

I would have liked a bit more emphasis on how well they do or don't sound._.  Like 'are the frequencys as well balanced as they can be?' or 'how do these compair to higher end flat frequency responce headphones?'   i dont care much about the psyical features of the headphones

I have the HD6 Mix, and they sound absolutely mind-blowing, but are the HD7 and the HD8 better in terms of sound quality? Did you test one of those?

I agree with you 100%. These are fantastic, especially for the price. But regardless, they do sound very good, I too just wish the earpads were thicker and the compression on your head wasn't as high.

Hi, I use these headphones to mix and I am trying to create as close to a flat frequency response as I can. You cut off the frequency’s under 40hz in your frequency response screenshot, would you mind messaging me the full graph? Idk how to recreate it and my other options are expensive. Wouldn’t mind compensating you for the full graph or teaching me how to find the frequency response myself. Thank you.
